That would be the ideal scenario for the dogs assuming they could fit both trelor and Dunkley in there salary cap
We can't even fit both into our midfield.

I don't want to take a guy who will be 28 at the start of next year on a 5 x $900k deal, especially a burst mid.

That's fair enough too. If we manage to pry Carlton's future first and a second from somewhere I still think that's the best way to get this done

I
We don’t need to trade Dunkley to get Treloar. Pretty sure the deals won’t be linked.
i don’t think Essendon can get it done unless trelor is involved some how in the trade the dogs don’t want picks this season so without trelor they would want two future firsts Essendon would have to trade one in they might have to cave in on the sadd trade and take Carlton’s future first rather then pick 8 . Can they trade picks from 2022 not sure on the rules exactly with future picks?

Under that might be F1 (Port).

I.e. Fantasia and future 2nd for Pors future 1st?

On SM-G960F using BigFooty.com mobile app
i like that deal
Question is whether Port do
it's a deep draft by all reports so maybe slipping back a bit isn't so bad.
Plus you don't lose a selection, only downgrade one. Could always swap 28 for Allir or a future 2nd selection on draft night if there is no one you like.

When reports came out we'd asked for a 1st for Fantasia, my assumption was that included us added a future 2nd

Just spitballing here, but here's 1 way Ess could get it all done.

Trade 1 (Carl/GWS/Ess)
Carlton receive Saad (Ess) and Pick 52 (GWS) for Pick 8
GWS receive Pick 8 (Carl) for Caldwell, Pick 44 and Pick 52
Essendon receive Caldwell (GWS) and Pick 44 (GWS) for Saad

Trade 2 (PtA/WB/Ess)
Pt Adelaide receive Fantasia for Pick 29
Bulldogs receive Pick 6 (Ess) and Pick 29 (WB) for Dunkley
Essendon receive Dunkley for Pick 6 and Fantasia

Essendon come out with Caldwell and Dunkley and go to the draft with Picks 7, 44 and 48

Dogs don't do the second deal, and neither do we I reckon. First one isn't bad though

I reckon only 2 first rounders does it. First round 2020 and future 1st 2021, or even 2 2021 1sts. We have absolutely no reason to let Dunks go. If we dont get what we need for him we get to keep him.

If Saad is worth a pick 8 Dunks is worth a lot more. Younger, inside mid v HBF, premiership experience, Free agent (?) v contracted, and proven can play ruck ;). Worst case for us is Dunks spends 2 years playing VFL and then gets traded, although I cant see that happening, it would devalue him too much and hes a through professional who'll give his best wherever he is.

Essendon need to pay or they wont get him.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can someone explain to me why Jordan Ridley is a restricted free agent? I don't get these rules sometimes....

he's not. he's been in the system 3 years.

Carlton capitulating in the Saad trade gives a pretty clear path for for dodo getting all these done I would have thought.
Trade Fantasia to port for 29.
Trade 29, 8 and 2021 2nd for collingwood’s 16, 2021 1st and 2nd or 3rd. Or swap both 2nds and 3rds next year.
Move 16 for Caldwell
Get Dunkley with yours and collingwood’s first next year for the dogs 2021 2nd. Still leaves you with 6 and 7 in this draft plus gets you all of your targets.
I’ve probably missed something or one team will be unhappy

Thought not, was just going off the OP table
The data is off footywire, and has a habit of being wrong sometimes, especially at this time of year when everything is being updated.

But it's not wrong about Ridley. The table says that he's contracted to 2024 and when he is next out of contract he'll be a restricted free agent.

Band 1 compo for Daniher ✅

Pick 8 for Saad ✅

Land Caldwell

Land Wright ✅

Sweet deal for Fantasia

Land Dunkley

Not sure what Essendon's restrictions are on pick trading (as in how many 1sts they can trade before they have to keep 1/2 to use in the draft), but would imagine this is reasonably easy.
Daniher done.
Saad done.
Fantasia for 29.
8 and 29 for Dunkley.
Trade 7 and future 2nd to Geelong for 13 and 20.
13 to GWS for Caldwell.
Go to the draft with 6, 20, 67, 73
Bring in Dunkley and Caldwell, keep a high 1st this year and keep next year's 1st.
Do they need points this year for any NGA or F/S? Or is that next year?
If it's this year, trade next year's 3rd rounder to gain more points this year.

I would be very disappointed if we walked away with 6 and 20 from 6, 7 and 8. Neither us nor Geelong are doing that deal.

Western Bulldogs have no reason to take 2020 picks

Sticking point here is dogs want future picks for Dunkley, Essendon won’t get him for 8 and 29. Not sure Geelong would trade for 7 depends how negotiations are going with gws. Everything else looks ok.
