Dodo is not even the worst problem Essendon have right now

Seen several red flags raised on Ben Rutten already. He has a massive Scott Watters at St Kilda aura all over him :)

Coaching Succession Plans so far have not been very successful, and Truck Rutten looks like being the worst of the lot :)

Some Bombers fans are saying this feels worse than 2016.
I don't know it it's fair to Rutten to grade him on this year. Not only was he not head coach, but there was shit going on in their football department behind the scenes. When politics interferes with football, you're stuffed.

So, what's the salary cap again?

The more they do sh*t like this, the more the clubs are able to shape contracts only ensuring a certain amount of money as 'guaranteed'. All of a sudden, a club is paying 95% of the cap - according to their definitions - but in actuality is paying 115% of the cap with okay of head office.

At least, until the media gets wind of it.

My interpretation is that only guaranteed contract money (i.e base contract) is considered when determining Free Agency Compensation but if a player hits the triggers for bonuses then the additional money is definitely still counted within the Salary Cap.

Have a feeling Bummers may target Tom McDonald, now that JD wants out
Nah, we are giving them Charlie and pick 7 for Saad, they will be okay

I'm quite happy to offer the Dopers some free advice on where it all went wrong:
- letting Sheedy linger on as coach a couple of years past his use by date;
- selecting Matty Knights ahead of Damian Hardwick to replace Sheedy;
- bringing Hird & Thompson back to the club;
- choosing Worsfold to cobble the club back together after the doping debacle;
- playing silly games with the Worsfold/Rutten succession plan;
- still having Dodoro in charge of recruiting despite him putting together inferior playing lists.

You're welcome Dopers.

- Injecting players with unknown substances, not keeping records, lying about the entire process and not taking responsibility for the mistakes when found out.
- allowing the captain to keep the Brownlow medal he cheated to win, let him play the victim and not forcing him to apologise and hand it back publicly
- recruiting an unlikeable playing list of dubious characters to represent the club

:rolleyes:
All this spin is exactly what’s wrong with them... hails from loopy sheedy

It’s what got them in this shit in the first place. It started when James said “hey everyone, I think it would be a great idea to take PEDS” and everyone said “OK then”
And now Tim’s spruiking the same mantra.
It’s comedy gold I tells ya, and it’s going to supply us with countless hours of entertainment
I’m going to get fat as **** eating all this popcorn.

It's the typical victim blaming they & maggots like them roll out whenever someone doesn't put up with their s**t and leaves that god awful place. The best part is they're going to need to rebuild to a point..... and they think that giving a good/well respected bloke a whack on the way out is gonna help them attract free agents/RFA's etc.... Good luck Timmy boy. I hope to god that s***stain of a club never changes. I really really do.

They are in turmoil...

  • They've brought Sheedy back
  • Their president was already part of their board during the drugs scandal
  • Sheedy has shown full support for Dodo and given Dodo's other connections at a higher level, he's going nowhere (which is a great thing :D )
  • Players exodus..
  • Too stubborn to bite the bullet and commit to a proper rebuild and going to be extremely difficult for them to do so now after having given up early draft picks over the past few years to bring in players... what motivation levels will Smith, Stringer and Shiel have now?? Stringer never looked motivated there anyway...
  • Their forward line is a shambles...
    • KPF stocks - with Daniher going, McKernan getting sacked ... Stewart is their best... (real elite huh Basil ??)
    • Smalls - likely Fantasia leaving, AMT looking really out of shape, Mosquito ACL.. their stocks not looking good either
  • Their midfield is shot... Dodo has not recruited one decent inside mid, in fact in the last 20 years Jobe was their best and he was a F/S selection...
  • McKenna and Saad have walked out... there goes their run off half back..
  • Hurley and Hooker haven't got long left, after that who are their KPDs??
  • TBC retired, their best ruckman has played 8 games with no inside mids good luck winning the ball out of stoppages...
Just look at how they've been spinning yarn to their members:

Just a point of fact to an otherwise brilliant post, Watson wasnt recruited as an inside mid, he was recruited as a KPF. He was moved to the midfield when it was revealed he couldnt kick over a jam tin.

Pure happenstance that he was serviceable as an inside mid.
