So in one breath he’s promoting Hirds return to coaching and then in the next he attacks Shaw reminding him that Hird has mental issues and tried to take his life.
Well all my sympathy and empathy to Hird but bugger me if my son was a professional footballer I don’t think I’d want someone coaching,advising,teaching,mentoring and leading him that has issues that serious that he tried to take his own life. What’s more if he’s that bloody fragile how the hell will he handle the heat the media puts on him ?

Well I did say I “used” to respect Essendon, I’m talking 80’s even 90’s Essendon not this century Essendon. Playing 19’s against them at windy Hill back in the day was (not ashamed to admit) very intimidating.......hard to explain but if I compare it to Collingwood Victoria Park was uninviting ,lots of rough as guts supporters but the team on the field didn’t intimidate, I was more aware of copping a sly one against the Bommbers.
