I lived there in 80s for a while..must admit lygon street (apart from twins) was a bit on the expensive side for me whereas la porchettas you could get a pizza ~$5..never looked anything special but always tasty...was very popularNo La Porchetta in the 80's but Totos has been there forever.
Give anything for a time machine just to go back to the 80’s there for one more nightJust another big night out hey Gardiner?

there was a great Lebanese place.... Kings Palace, or something like that in Faraday st. "Special" back room dining room for small grouos, carpet on the walls, water pipes, great food, mystery ingredients. Got banned. Not for playing up in the restaurant, but I went out with one of the daughters and her older brothers were going to do me harm. All fanatical baggers supporters. Got tricky at the footy for a while there.Lygon st....ah they were the days, Universal Pizza, Notturno, Dolce Vita, L’albas, university cafe, Papa Gino’s, Johnny’s green room, The Albion and the Downtowner motel
