they'll play clark, and McKernan and Hooker can ruck, so to expect aliir and reid to compete is asking for trouble. He may not be ready but if he can play 60% game time, Knoll or MclEan must come in.

Agree, we need to find out whether these guys are worth persisting with. What’s the point in having them on the list if we’re not gonna play them when our three preferred rucks are all injured? Time to unwrap the cotton wool and see what these big fellas can do while they’ve got the chance.

McLean & Aliir > Knoll & Aliir > Aliir & Reid

Always have an actual ruck without pulling either Aliir or Reid from the defence or attack. Can rest one of them down forward if need be as well

I agree with that, but why can't we have an actual ruck and McCartin? The way I see it, either way we're gonna be slightly compromised either down back or up forward regardless of who we go with, so why would we make things even worse by removing another tall?

My understanding (I didn’t watch the 2’s last weekend) is that McLean hasn’t been rucking so wouldn’t it make sense to have the ‘no.1’ ruck? Longmire also has not ruled out Knoll, no mention of McLean.

McLean hasn't been rucking but he did share the load with Cameron in the NEAFL in matches earlier this year, and from all that I saw in his (admittedly brief) appearances, I was more impressed with his efforts in the ruck than Knoll. That's not me knocking Knoll by the way, I think he's got a hard run on here off a very small sample so I'm no way ready to write him off yet. I just prefer McLean at this stage because I think he can make more of a contest both in the ruck and around the ground with the added benefit of being able to play forward while McCartin is down back.

But you're right he hasn't been mentioned at all, which leads me to believe Horse doesn't see him as a ruck candidate at this point.

No clue what we are going to do about the ruck situation. Sinclair is going to miss, no doubt there and Cameron, who is a ****e option himself, is also injured, meaning we are missing our top 3 ruckmen, leaving us with Knoll, McLean and Amartey, none of whom are even remotely ready and would more likely be liabilities if we played them next week.

Mate

We have Zac ****ing clarke

Any of those listed above cover him in spades

To answer your question I’ll probably be watching the game on delay anyway as it’s my wife’s birthday anyway, family comes first.

happy birthday to the missus

McVeigh for McCartin
Knoll for Sinkers
IMO

Thats what will happen.

Geebers, you're probably right. McCartin was ok and adapted to being sent down back. I want him back on the fwd line. AA must play back and do no more than pinch hit in the ruck.

McVeigh needs to prove his match fitness in the 2s..

I'm sick of us losing players in the first half. We are already carrying a crocked JPK who can only run in slow dripped treacle.

Either Grassy or McLean in for Sinkers should be the auto change.

If Jose is worried about Saad or McKenna, Ronke needs a run with role. If not, replace him with Foxy.

Personally I would be careful picking Knoll. Whilst his tap out stats in the neafl on the weekend were ok, there was clearly a problem. It was obvious that in the third quarter the suns midfield felt they had full control. Watching the swans mids, predominantly Jack and Fox they were adopting a complete man on man shut down set up. eg standing behind their opponent and tackling hard. This doesn't just happen, especially with Jack directing the mids. From my coaching days you adopt this structure when your opposition ruckman has taken complete control and is tapping at will. To be fair to Knoll he is new to the game and is still learning. I feel that if he has some parts of his game he is still learning, in particular how to nullify a dominant opposition ruckman. If he was selected no doubt Essendon will do their homework and identify these areas of exposure and exploit them.
I was at the last swans essendon game and reid actually went well as a tap ruckman.
