Way Way Off. Should probably hang them up at the end of the year because another preseason and season next year could be a bridge to far and he could go out looking very ordinary if he falls off the cliff but he has done nothing to disgrace himself this year, has been consistent when he has played and is still 1000 % the most composed player ball in hand under pressure in the back half and easily the best distributor. Barring probably Franklin he is probably Still the best in the side anywhere on the ground. Time waits for nobody but apart from his soft tissues he has not digressed as much people would like to pretend.
Dawson's, delivery is better

After how many games ? When he has maintained it for 318 games Like McVeigh has I will tip my hat. Dawson's disposal looks sharp no doubt and I am glad when he has the ball in hand but it is not just your foot that disposes of the Ball. Composure & Decision Making are imperative To A Football hitting A Target. McVeigh Has been doing it since Dawson was playing Auskick. People are romanced by a left footer. Nick Newman was called an Elite Kick on here by more than one person and to be honest that was complete piffle. This is not to knock Dawson. His kicking is a pleasure to watch.

Yes well said WW.
Exactly my thoughts.
On a slightly varying topic, I'm very glad we signed the young fellow but it's sad how we now fear losing such players at some point before their prime whereas when Macca started, it wasn't really a concern with a core group of players. Times have changed & club loyalty has dropped off significantly.
That's life I guess but can't say I like it.

Haha how many times have I seen a dinky kick from Macca go straight to the opposition. Same Lloydy. Macca is not perfect. He's good sure but his kicks are generally dinky ones and if they stuff up you are in deep shite.

I have lived watching Macca over the years. His decision making is generally good, his delivery GENERALLY good, his ability to dodge and weave were special. Dawson kicks long. Macca rarely did, although his long kicks were quite good. I believe Dawson will do this for a long time as what he does breaks the play completely and kills opposition teams. A 50-60 metre pass to a player standing inbetween three opponents is bliss to watch and impossible to stop.

I agree he hasn't been doing it at the top level for long but hey everyone starts somewhere

It's always been like this. Do you remember Anthony Rocca, Rhyce-Jones, G Williams, Grant and the list goes on

Anyway I thought this was about the Bombers. If you can control and shut down two areas they are virtually done. Shut down the mids and those fast half backs and tgey will get little or no delivery forward. Saad and McKenna cut sides up and Merritt, Heppell, Zaharakis and Shiel are dangerous if they have enough feeding.

Take those away and the struggle

Yeah spot on. I should have stated that I meant from the Roos era, but they were the REALLY bad old days which I absolutely hated & it is the very reason my hate for the Vic clubs often rears it's ugly head in many of my posts on here. It's happening allover again too.

I remember when Mopsy Rantall went to Norf under the 10 year rule. I am still cranky

Bedford still remembers coming home from work to hear Pratt has been hit by the mail truck

Agreed.

Even if it means a loss or two, giving Dawson more games and not McVeigh is the way forward. If we drop Rowbottom for McVeigh I'll be beyond annoyed.

Gifting games to players who are not in the best 22 is not the way forward. That's the Carlton Way. FWIW, I think Rowbottom RIGHT NOW is best 22, so is McVeigh and so is Dawson.

It’s not gifting games when he had 20+ last week. Watch McVeigh break down again leaving us 1 short again. How about we give these young kids a chance to play back to back games. They have played well the last month.

Why is everyone talking about McVeigh? Longmire and Gardiner effectively put a line through his name this week.

Thankfully then.

Give him a run in the NEAFL first and see if he can last a game first. These injuries are starting to be recurring

Ronke would be the likely candidate BUT it is immaterial this game as McVeigh is not fit

mcveigh has to play ressies first imo, cant risk being one down early

Just don't like Reid and especially Aliir rucking a whole game and also mucking up our structures. I'd rather an actual ruck

If Sinkers is only out for 2-3 I can see the point of the gamble in AA and Reid.
Not as if Clarke/Hooker are some ruck superstars
