Ok mods, by all means, delete the thread and merge posts once we get a real preview, but while some of our magnificent amateur journalists get their shit together I'd like to start a discussion about next week's game.

OK I have not been able to get to much footy at all this year, so having the VFL televised was very helpful.
For two weeks running our senior mids have dominated. Winning stoppages and contested ball which had us in ascendency throughout the game. On top of that our defensive structures were better than the opposition and our run and carry plus daring hand ball is exhilarating.

There is so much to like, however, after seeing the twos today we have to make three changes. Laverde is a gun, plain and simple. Begley's burst through the middle in the last quarter was the straw the breaks the camel's back. He can't be left out. Langford is a mid, a big bodied, loping inside/outside mid.

Bird did well, but sorry mate you're cut. Green similar. Colyer has been a little patchy so I'd let him go back to the reserves too. Watson should have a longer break. Not opposed to him playing limited minutes in VFL.

I believe this strengthens our team this week. I also believe that it strengthens our list for the rest of the year and long term.

In: Laverde, Begley, Langford
Out: Bird, Green, Colyer.

Well North just got smashed, and have a one day shorter break, plus they played interstate. It's time to see if the players actually learnt anything from the Brisbane game. To see if they actually want to play finals. Should and need to win this game by 10 goals minimum.

I see North brought back Thomas **** that guy hope we smash him.

All good fishardansin

Don't think we'd make many changes after such a big win. I don't think that Begley will get a chance. What I'd like to see:

In: Langford, Watson and Laverde (if match selection committee is confident that he is ready)
Out: Bird, Green, Colyer

Colyer, Bird and Green stiff, but I think that Laverde and Langford can add more to our side. I think this will improve our side the most heading towards the end of the year.

Laverde and Langford in the midfield/forward makes our side very dynamic. Our forwardline would be very hard to stop.

This is such a crucial game for us. Win this and we are really building momentum. Lose this and we'll make it really hard for ourselves.

Hopefully we've learned from the Brisbane game. North have still been very competitive this year. Probably a 11-14 side had they not have lost so many close games.

There is zero chance or three changes to the team. Not after a dominant win like last night.

I didn't think of Walla. Resting this week will mean a 16 day break. That is enough time for a couple of days off and a mini-mini-preseason. A fresh and revitalised Walla in the back end of the season would make a huge difference to our season.

Not only do we want to develop these kids we want to give them experience this year so they are more prepared if called upon due to injury later in the year. Having said that, I believe the changes I suggest will strengthen the team right now.

We need to win the next three and get some form up that could potentially beat Adelaide at docklands. It is feasible we can win every home and away game from here. Hopefully, lessons were learnt from the Sydney game and arrogance against Brisbane. I believe that rotating the team a little improves performance. It puts everyone on notice, has many ready to play senior footy and keeps everyone fresh.

I want to see:
In: Watson, Laverde
Out: Bird, Green

I see no reason why Laverde can't straight up take Green's spot. I'm sure he can kick goals from the goal line just as well as Green did. Its not like we won't have any crumbing presence, we will still have Fantasia and Tippa. Plus Laverde is quicker than Green and miles better overhead.

I understand people are pretty reluctant to change a forward line that is working so well but we aren't perfect yet. Plus Laverde gives us another midfield rotation option which is certainly nice.

I've been disappointed with Colyer at times but his last 2 games have been good and no way does he get dropped. The main reason I don't have Langford coming in is because there is no one he is clearly ahead of in the midfield and unless we play him forward then he's better off continuing to develop his midfield craft in the VFL until we have a spot available.

It'll definitely be interesting to see how many changes we actually make after a win like that. I'd say the only certain change is Bird making way for Watson.

Other than that, I'd say Laverde, Langford and Begley are hard to ignore.

For mine:
OUT: Bird & Green
IN: Watson & Laverde

Love the way we set up at the moment, perfect balance to our line up. Each change made needs to be like for like.

People think we are just run and gun but we are not. We are very calculated from the back half, if the inboard play isnt on we go from side to side dragging the opponents zone across, eventually there will be a weak link in their web and then we pounce and carve through the opening creating overlap along the way.

It's methodical and great to watch from level 3

Colyer will play.

I think we will go with Watson and Laverde for Bird and Green. Watson must come back in to the side and Bird will go back to the VFL and continue to put his hand up as a handy depth option. Green relatively average form over the past month or so means he is the one who is pushed out for Laverde after couple blistering performances. Langford and Begley should be considered if they do indeed miss but it's impossible to drop more than two and three after a win like the one last night.

Dragging the oppositions zone left to right make it's tiring for the oppo.

Remember 2 weeks ago? Brisbane ring a bell anyone? I pray that we learn from that disgrace of a game and blow the pants of these blokes. If we lose, it's just about season over. No matter the opposition, every game is effectively a final for us now and a must win. Show some fight Essendon and send these campaigners down the bottom where they belong.

This is the type of game Essendon lose. This is the type of game we need to start winning.
Brown and Thomas to rip us a new one.
Norf by 27.
Iggy to blow a gasket.

Not according to Hooker.

But he isn’t taking anything for granted, saying the Bombers can only focus on the task ahead against North Melbourne on Saturday.

“We know they have lost a lot of games by under 20 points, and we saw against Brisbane, if we are not in the game, we will lose,” he said. “So we won’t be taking them lightly.”

Bird did a good job as the inside mid/run with player on Steven.
feels wrong to drop him.

Omitting both Green & Colyer messes with our balance a bit too.

Thinking no changes to a line up who put on a performance at the same ground and have a good break.
harsh as it is
