Expectations for 2025

The thing is the club was realistically lucky to get the 5 wins we did this year.

I think the real metric for success is the development of younger players and %. Percentage of 80 or above no matter the win/loss column I would call significant improvement.
The North win was lucky but the others were ok.

You could say the Ess lost covered the NM win

we didn't lose many other close ones

Fair to say Schofield’s expectations for the Eagles in 2025 are low

Listening to him, it’s hard to argue that his views aren’t valid but it still comes across as him being overly negative for the sake of it.

Not sure why that is, and as I say he’s not really wrong. Maybe it’s his refusal to acknowledge any positives that might justify some hope for improvement

The competition is very even. The right attitude and fitness is more important. After we won the 2018 GF, WCE has gone into the comfort zone.
Hopefully, we can regain the winning spirit with McQualter emphasising the definition of the word "BELONG".
We have Robert Walls tipping us to win the spoon in 2018. Now Schofield is taking his role as the negative motivator.
At the end of the day, the 2025 depends very much on the effort of players. If we can keep the winning spirit we displayed in the first derby and Melbourne game last year, we will be playing final in 2025.

I dont know if you listen to schoey alot but his opinions of his ex team generally slant towards the critical/negative side.

Hmmm, I like the positivity, but seems slightly ambitious at this early stage?
6-8 wins would be credible. Just trying to keep my lid on...
Expectations are always open to change as we progress.
Methinks Schoey is all about Schoey and less about WCE.

For all the optimism that came from winning against melbourne & freo early in the year, i think they were partly undone by performances at home against the hawks, norf, saints & carlton. That away game against adelaide was poo also.

I expect a more consistent effort in 2025. Better selection integrity, more enthusiastic youngsters pushing for games threatening the senior players and adding 3 mature players who work hard and are in their prime can only improve the consistency.
We have only lost Barrass, plus a bit off the older players who age, while gaining significantly from young players who will be better at holding their own. Reid, Hough, Maric, Ginbey, etc will all be better, particularly Ginbey who should have far more impact in his half back role.

I dont see how we dont improve our wins. We proved that we are capable of beating middle ladder teams in 2024.

I dont think its that unlikely that we are right in the middle ladder pack, joining those 11 win teams from 2024.

If I had to put a line on us id have it at 7.5 wins, the difference between 7 and 11 wins really isnt that much in such an even comp.

I think a lot of our supporters have been broken by the last few years!
F**k that!! We are on the up!!
I think we have the talent to go a long way. Bedding down new systems will be the holdup not the cattle.
3.5 poor years. Dont know how norf and saints fans deal with systemic shiteness.

It's just that we don't know anything yet, about much at all?
It's all speculation of course until it's not - which should all start to take shape
from friday 10th onwards >>> when speculation will slowly transition into some kind of new reality? (sounds like a scifi flick?) The floodgates of hope and faith will open, the Facebook 'blind worship' crew will carry on, The Worst Orstralian will w*nk and waffle on, Schoey will look after the Schoey brand,
and BF'ers will analyse-criticise-fictionalise-categorise-bastardise-glamorise-cannibalise-romanticise-idealise-catastrophise-fantasise-conceptualise-hypocrise-intellectualise-legitimise-officialise-lobotomise-mathematicise-victimise-optimise-pessimise-scandalise-ostracise-philosophise-sensationalise-plagiarise-vulgarise-politicise-satirise-rationalise-polarise-subjectivise-systematise-improvise-sympathise-traumatise and finally....realise...where the Eagles are really at?
Can't wait!

A rather bullish appraisal from the Mongrel Punt, especially their assessment of our trade period which runs against the grain of most views

Very positive on the acquisitions of Baker, Graham and Owies

I’m not a member so only got the first 5 questions and not the remaining 10 or so.

Our losses at home in Round 12 and 13 against the Saints (14 points) and Roos (9 points) were both games that we were in 90% of the time except for a few brain fades/free kicks and 50m penalties which swung the momentum significantly (i.e Yeo/Simpkin holding the ball free kick)

We also played pretty well against Brisbane at home in Round 18 (13 point loss).

We have 12 games at Optus in 2025, and we should be aiming to win as many of those as possible.
Suns, Bombers, Demons, Saints, Cats, Blues, Giants, Tigers, Crows, Swans and Dockers x2.

Conservatively let's say we can win 6 home games.

The game in Bunbury against the Roos and away games against Carlton (Gather round at Adelaide Oval), Tigers (MCG) are also games we may have a red hot crack at.

It'll come down to injuries which of our younger players takes the next step but I believe we are on the right track.

I just want the Eagles to be bunch of unique individuals!

Who are gonnaguh [sic] engage with their minds and their hearts. Who are gonna exchange ideas, thoughts and even their energy. And to speak from their hearts they need to have courage.

They need to be honest and authentic. They're not always gonna get it right and sometimes, wenotgonnagree [sic] with them.

But that’s okay, because just like us they care! Just like me, they're passionate about the game.
