Honestly todays news and discussion across various platforms has been more entertaining than the whole 2023 F1 season. the off track chat and silly season is going to be wild! Top that with the potential of not RB winning the title or atleast up to 3 other teams winning a race...can't wait

I will say, I'm far more invested in this season again than I was prior to this occurring.

How would Sainz be feeling.
Like walking in the office and someone else is sitting in your chair but they haven't even sacked you yet.

Hopefully they had the courtesy to let him know this was dropping.

He's got plenty of time in which to find a new drive, he's highly regarded, and there are plenty of other drivers coming out of contract. I doubt he'll have too many problems finding a seat for 2025.

If Checo doesn't impress this year, I could see him taking that 2nd RB seat.

I agree he'll be fine. Still, landing a Ferrari seat is still the pinnacle of F1 motorsport to most drivers (other than probably Verstappen).

He'd be anxious his career doesn't take a step back from this.

Still. Any of Red Bull, Merc, McLaren and possibly Audi would be a good home for him.

His press release implied he might already have something lined up and he's been rumoured to have been linked with Audi for a while.

I'm more curious about Charles Leclerc. Sainz's contract put on hold while Leclerc signs an extension, making him Ferrari's clear #1 driver. Now they go and sign Lewis Hamilton.

McLaren seats appear to be filled, with Piastri & Norris both contracted well beyond 2024.

The other options are definitely open. My money would be on a straight swap, with Sainz going to Mercedes and Hamilton to Ferrari. But that's just a guess.

I would expect that Norris' contract would have out-clauses for if an attractive seat opened up from the big 3 he could take it.

Or that's what journos are going to start reporting in silly season anyway (true or not).

Convenient for FOM that the HAM news dropped within 24 hours of the Andretti rejection so it's pushed it out of the headlines.... hahaha

Wouldn't say probably - if Verstappen wins eight with Red Bull I wouldn't be surprised if he jumps to Ferrari.

Regardless of the jokes about the strategists and incompetence, it's Ferrari. You'd be joining a pantheon of multiple world champions who drove for the prancing horse - Fangio, Ascari, Prost, Lauda, Mansell, Raikkonen, Schumacher, Vettel, Alonso etc etc. Now a seven timer will join that list.

Early gut feel domino effect

Albon > Mercedes
Bottas > Williams
Sainz > Sauber/Audi

Sainz is from the Red Bull stable and Perez is obviously a year-by-year proposition so that's probably the most likely move in my view.

Surprised if Sainz takes the significant downgrade to Sauber.

It might be all he is offered.

This crap is even appearing on The Project, I see.

Hamilton to Ferrari is a cliche move. When Schumacher moved in 96, it was a statement of seriousness from Ferrari. When ALosn joined, it was convenient for both. Similar to Vettel, except that he had an attachment to Schumacher being there.

What does this even mean?

That Hamilton has less of a legitimate reason to move to Ferrari than Schumacher, Vettel and Alonso?

Apparently HAM's Ferrari contract will see him earning about $100 million US a year.

If true, that places him an equal 3rd on the list for on field earnings by any athlete in the world:
