Let's hope Burgo can work some magic on his shape. The talent is there.
Imagine getting him as a rookie after his U16 year had him touted as a possible top 10 player this year. Then if he 'miraculously' trims up and is much fitter by end of preseason and dominates the SANFL as a forward next year and even gets a game or 3 in the seniors, questions will be asked of us by the VFL media..'did you deliberately keep him out of shape to tank his draft value ra ra ra'

Many things could have influenced this year. Growth spurt, hitting the weights slowing him down, attitude. His dad rocked up fat to pre season training too one year. So maybe the diet in the Welsh household isnt the best.

Love to see him turn up at playing weight when the draft happens

You do realise Adelaide employ a full time dietician and no doubt Tyler would have been given both a diet plan and a fitness plan by Burgo leading into the pre-season training knowing he was about to become an AFL listed player. The big problem is it's up to the individual to put in the unsupervised training etc. Hopefully Tex takes him under his wing especially prior to preseason training.

I think all that's true, though there's still limits with the level of contact we can have with a non-listed player.

He might not have had great initiative as to what he needed to also do this year, but that should change in 2025.

If Burgo knows what he's doing he would have put Tyler on the Christian Bale program

I was talking prior to the combine. but he will be fine. Of course once he is mentored and officially in inside our system he will improve. As I said, plenty of reasons as to why he didnt star.

Hope he keeps growing which looking at that pic he certainly appears to be, looks taller than the last time I saw him play last year for the Gippy Power.

Played HBF/Back Pocket and did a lot of the Power's kicking in which was a lot of responsibility for a 16 year old. Shows quite a bit so fingers crossed.

For Gippy Power fans, they'd be salivating at the prospect of Duursma potentially kicking to Malady to Malady kicking it to Stevens for a goal if Neocleus isn't around.

Is he likely to get some game time up forward this year?
I think he could be a handy third tall forward.

Crows aren't really in need of half back flankers and medium defenders.

It looks like we are just now entering a period where we will have quite a few FS (and at least 1 good NGA) options available to us and I'm just spit balling out next few years drafting around this. I think the op draft years are out by a year but even so we should have

2025 draft mitch Stevens
2026 draft NGA Jermaine miller

There's a second Welsh who'll be 2026 and a second Stevens who'll be 2027.

Others from the OP (who I have no idea how good they might be) 2025:Caleb Tregenza, Edward Goodwin, 2026: Jack Rutten, Nick Ricciuto, then there's a bit of a lull before a few again in '28,'29,'30.

Anyway given we only need to bring in one or two per year now, we should def be looking at giving up this year's and next two year's firsts for Dyson Sharp, since a homegrown product like him would really round off our squad nicely. Some of the FS and NGAs look like they could be the relatively cheap B grade to poss A grade players that we need to drip in and I'm sure we can get a ruckman or two cheaply somewhere somehow.

Harry Thompson

The trouble with going all in for Sharp is it likely requires a top 10 pick to pair with a 2026 first rounder in order to get him.
So on that basis, I hope it doesn't happen.

Watching him actually play I'd think there's more chance he might get a shot in the Gippy Power midfield depending on their final list makeup.
