Definitely think Phillipou is the one we have competition from Port for (if he looks to move) - not so much NWM, given Port don't have their own 2025 1st now
That won't matter though if he wants back to SA and says Port - they will then have to take what port have. It would be nice to see them fail to replace Butters properly if he leaves as he is one of the big 3 they have and lose one and everything gets much much harder

Butters & f2* for NWM & Philipou, who says no?

Saints say a definitive no IMO. Why give up possibly their 2 most likely elite young players for a player they can get for FREE trade wise if they pay big $$$ (which they have and apparently chasing others hard with massive coin once they are FA like Weitering reported 12m over 8 years - once he is a FA and not before). For Butters, if they wait one more year (end of 2026), then they have all 3, rather than just one player.

Going over same ground as previous so won’t repeat again after this post but as I have pointed out to other posters there has been NO MAJOR pre-agents deals done in recent years as it’s not in the players OR acquiring clubs interest. It’s only in Powers interest to do the trade in 2025. The fact no major pre-agent deals are getting done should tell you everything need to know about who wants to do the trade in general a year early (selling club) and who wants to do it at the right FA time (player and acquiring club). Power is not in the strongest position here. Butters is.

IMO Saints would be absolutely crazy to contemplate that under the circumstances you outlined.

Well I very politely asked about this trade on Saints board, and their more rational, non-abusive responses that I can quote include the following. Fair to say they would say universally categorically say #### off with this proposal. Possibly not the most objective source (passionate BF fans) but it is a shocking deal for Saints IMHO

Absolutely not. Nas is already very good/elite and I have a feeling Pou will very quickly become the same judging by his finish to the year. Both with attributes that are hard to come by.

Butters is good, but he’s not that good.

A skinny headless busted up chook for 2 prospective gun stallions?

I think not

Of course we wouldnt do that.

Butter isnt worth 3-4 first round picks., which is essentially what the combined haul would be if both players independently asked for trades.

Butters Rozee and 2 first rounders still wouldn't get it done

No way

Phillipou looks like he's projecting to be even better than Butters within the next 2 years. I'd find it hard to entertain a straight swap between them, let alone adding in Nas who looks like he'll be the best half back in the comp soon

We also have Garcia who is training the house down (genuinely...not just from a biased nuff's perspective) and would play a similar role to what Butters would in our midfield so its not like we are overly desperate to get him to the point we'd be giving up crucial cogs of our future

I think we'll target him for either RFA or for something like 2x FRDP + more, but certainly not for Pou or Nas

I’ve made the mistake of visiting their board once.
Never again.
Bottom of the barrel over there.
Simply asked how Philipou was traveling and was basically told to **** off.

Well, most of those responses are pretty clueless.

Phillipou was a rabid Port fan by all accounts, so he would go back to the Pear one would think.
Not so sure about that given the work we put into him and his family lin the weeks leading up to the draft according to TMS who was a regular source of inside info from within the 4 walls of the club until a certain Fried Chicken purveyor burnt him off.

Our loss.

Simply untrue.

“Some of my mates are passionate Power supporters but I am happy to go to any club. I have been much more interested in following the NBA than the AFL”.

Dyson Sharp will enter next season as many people's favourite to go pick 1 in the 2025 draft. He's a tough and brave contested inside mid with enough versatility to his game to play and thrive in other roles. His stoppage work is a standout, his reading of the tap and movement always seems to put him in the right place at the right time and he plays with a physical edge to absorb contact or apply pressure of his own. He's already shown that he can impact in a major way at senior SANFL level as a 17 year old, more than physically ready, the only slight question mark at this stage being his decision making at times where he has more time and space than he realises and rushes into a disposal, something that we can probably expect to improve with more experience at the level.

Excuse Tigers supporter.
Even though Sharp is seen as the number 1 pick right now, I do not believe that will be the case. Louis Emmett is being trialled by the Tigers and he is I think currently their top choice. With the Tigers likely to have 2 picks inside 5, it’s unlikely you’ll have any chance of Sharp because I don’t see you ending that low. The crows have been rebuilding for a few years, forget sharp and go for vast improvement in 2025.

With respect we don't really care what Richmond do.

I was just enforcing my opinion that the crows list is better than being in the bottom bracket and I think you’ll not end in a position that would enable the crows to be an early pick.

We pretty much all think the same as you, but we can dream can't we? Also being able to trade picks from two years into the future means we might be able to trade up far enough if he falls away from the top 3 or so picks.

Crows 2025 1st + (which player) for Richmond's 2025 1st?

Assuming we finish 7th or 8th for argument's sake

I hadn’t really thought about it and speculative scenarios about the value of our first pick, based on Richmond winning the spoon again is likely to cause you and others to call me some not so pleasant names. Followed by a Get F’d and F’off statement. All I’ll say is Richmond would listen to offers from the crows and other clubs. Could be your first and 2026 first. I have no clue. What player would you offer up for pick 1.

We've got too many tall defenders so one would be on the block I imagine at the end of 2025. Whether that's enough to entice a club to downgrade their 1st might depend on where we finish

I don't think we'd part with a young Vic like Soligo or Rachele but never say never I guess

The only way we'd do that is if they wanted to go.

A contract such as the ones they both have isn't something you dish out just to trade them shortly after. Not in our clubs MO

True but if we're going to land a Dyson Sharp it won't be by continuing standard business

Finishing low on the ladder sadly seems to be continuing business.

It'll be interesting to see how we attack the draft next year, should be make a decent step up the ladder.

Finish where we did this year and we are all well in the game anyway

This is why it’s difficult to trade up for a very early pick, especially #1. Richmond would want a top line player and the crows rightfully would be very reluctant to let a Soligo or Rachelle go. Is sharp really worth that cost? I doubt it. He’s not Harley Reid. Is he that much better than the next two or three top selections?
