May I suggest relevence is in the eye, so to speak.
One may well consider they are doing something of worth, when factually they maybe doing nothing of the kind.

You really don't want any of your user accounts to remain unscathed do you?

Coz I don't. Its pretty sad that an honest opinion with no intention of trolling/pissing off moderators in a thread like this is seen to be an attack.

But then again it certainly wouldn't be the first time you mis-interpretted one of my posts. ;)

Read the OP. Basically we're not interested in your opinions on this. Not interested in your observations. Not interested in your witticisms or complaints. Not interested in your expressions of dislike for the Festival or the moderators.

The Festival is the Festival. Any discussion you attempt to have about it will probably end in you getting a card. Any attempt to reason that the Festival is unjust or unfair will probably end up with more cards for you. Complaining that certain people have or have not gotten a card will probably end in you getting more cards.

Do what the OP says - talk footy like a normal human being who has some sort of respect for other site users - and you won't get a red card.

It really isn't complicated, but a few people have a hard time seeing the writing on the wall, and a few others just want to try to bait an "unfair" red card to prove that the mods are evil. Happy to oblige with the cards. :thumbsu:

Please don't tell me he got carded for that?
He didn't. The thing about cards is that you can see when someone has a red or yellow one, but you can not see which post gives it to them. Not sure why you would choose the most innocent looking post.

Hypothetically it could be for any post site wide.

This thread is currently at 19 pages. Sorry to bother you with my lame suggestions, but I'd suggest if you don't want any feedback, lock the thread. I'm not having a crack at you or any mod in particular, just thought I'd offer an opinion as to how the site could be improved.

I do, and I haven't.

Not everyone who offers an opinion on the mods that you might not like is moron/troublemaker/drunk on home brew :thumbsu:

Where did we ask for feedback?.....

Festival was declared.....celebrations began

A red card would normally prevent you from posting on BF for a week. The new short term cards are only effective for 24 hours.

It takes quite a bit to get booted from BF completely.

tell me about it

chief, throw me a red card for good old times sake. Here's to hoping I can make the 20 infraction mark :thumbsu:

yeah - why is that ??

Yeah, why???  You make it really obvious that it's going to happen no matter what, and people still argue the toss. Strange.

A lot of people want an exact template for posts that are not acceptable.

Such a thing does not exist. Context counts.

Luck also counts. You might be unlucky and have a few of your 'bad' posts spotted while other people are lucky and have nothing spotted or reported.

If you don't get it, don't post until you do get it. Too many people don't get it, know they don't get it, but post anyway. Then complain when they get a card, trying to reason or threaten or bluster their way out of an infraction they deserved. Sometimes you'll get lucky and an admin will reverse it. Sometimes you'll be unlucky and get an EXTRA card. Mostly an admin will not reverse a decision by a moderator. That is the way it goes.

Either way arguing about a card can be a dicey proposition. Live with the uncertainty.

What about an early guilty plea.?:p

PS do I have any carry over points?

next step, the Gameday Board.

How about deleting any thread that isnt X team versus Y team.

Too many posters know they can get long term exposure by starting new threads on the gameday board.

I am sure the Gameday board mods can see your reported posts.

It's talk like this that really rubs people up the wrong way, as another poster said, you started a thread and let a discussion evolve with various people on the topic of banning (many of whom i now see are banned)

if you didn't want the topic discussed in an open & fair (well slightly fair) manner, then you should have locked it.

no wonder you end up with posts like this:

Everyone? Am I so disliked??? :(

And cheif you said that u'd give out red cards for people not "talking like an ordinary human being interested in discussing footy".
Yet this whole blog is dedicated to talking about the cards not footy:confused:

Probably the silliest post in this thread.

We'll be having a bit of a cleanup on the main board by handing out one-day red cards for, well, anything other than talking like an ordinary human being interested in discussing footy.

e.g (but not limited to):

* One-line rubbish that contributes nothing and/or annoys a mod enough to give you a card.
* Multiple valueless one-line posts in a row.
* Posting "Culture." or other over-used catchphrases. Or even under-used catchphrases that annoy people.
* Pointless abuse "Well yeah screw you you fahgit and your club are fahgits 2"
* Boring tirades about your right to an opinion. Whinging and moaning about moderators, what people are saying or doing on other boards as a way to excuse your own actions or getting upset about the Festival itself.
* Wasting mods time by reporting people who you think deserve a card because you got one for "exactly" the same thing.
* Starting a thread posting a news article verbatim and no other comment.
* Rehashing old rumours, topics discussed to within an inch of their life or just being a twit.
* Posting stupid unfunny pictures in an attempt to make a point
* Quoting a long post to respond with anything remotely like "lol rly??" or "I agree"
* Failure to understand what we're trying to do during the Festival of the Red Card and posting a dumb question or pointless whinge in this thread.

A little argy bargy in the process of making a point probably isn't going to raise much of an eyebrow. Neither will posting a one-liner that adds to the discussion, you might even get away with a pointless post if it has no effect on the thread or if mods can't be bothered infracting you. But posting like a 10 year old drunk on home brew is a sure way to cop a card.

To avoid this arbitrary flurry of red cards, just be civil and make a proper point when you post. If you don't know what I mean by "civil" or "proper point" you might like to take a break from the main board for a week or so.

If you get multiple cards during the Festival you will probably lose your main board access. So if you get one it's only for a day. Use the time to write angry emails to me, but delete them before you hit send. You'll feel better.

Are you excited????
You're not actually serious are you?
Red carding someone for "overusing a phrase" like culture? :D:D
You are hilarious (unless you're actually trying to be funny then it's just mildly humorous satire of despotism).

When you get dozens of people all thinking that posting "Culture." is funny or relevant then, yes, it's time to crack down on these useless posts and encourage better posting.

Next season we'll probably be bringing back a "member of the month" prize as the carrot to the Red Card's stick.
