Fevola: The Real Story

Neil Mitchell made it out to be Sexual Harassment rather than Sexual Assault. He was very vague about the detail so people seem to be getting way ahead of themselves over this.

If Brisbane knew of all of this before signing him then the only person who is accountable is Fevola. However, this turns into a giant shit storm then it may damage the Brisbane name by knowingly drafting a player who could face criminal charges.

Carlton has known about these alleged incidents, so has the afl and her employer and her way BEFORE TODAY.
the deal was sown up this morning and irrespective , why the delay ? why wasnt he suspended ? why didnt the afl step in ? why didnt her employer do more to have him charged and or suspended ?

If Carlton, the AFL, the HS and numerous websites such as this one knew about the rumours, why didn't Brisbane and how is it Carlton's fault if they didn't?

Might have known the usual suspects have got on their high horse.

Carlton have said that they have heard a lot of different rumours about what transpired that night and this was one of them. Those same rumours have been posted on here so have been leaked out in various ways. Carlton do not control Crown Casino and Carlton have no reason to have known more about this than anybody else at Crown Casino that night. AFL people from everywhere were present.

Did I see JD suggest that we should have suspended Fev? From what? He didn't go to our B&F, didn't go on the end of season trip, took no further part in the club at all. Carlton met, discussed all of the rumours and all of the knowns and opted to get rid of him. What would you have had them do? Badger the HUN journalist, assuming they even knew who she was and made them tell her if it was true or not?

The AFL's hands are all over this. The AFL told Carlton to get him out of Victoria. Do you wonder why only one Victorian club showed any interest at all but Carlton quickly said they wouldn't deal with them? No doubt in my mind, people suspected something was up, as we did or that the AFL warned them off.

IT is clear that Carlton DID investigate it!

Fevola had spoken to Dimetriou twice in the first week.

The AFL has admitted it was aware and supplied counselling as did the HUN.

Kernahan announced they would be meeting Fevola on Monday (a week after Brownlow ... "to lock doors and thrash it out"!

Judd is involved in later CFC discussions!

AFL are trying to grow develop the game and don't want a scandal.

Carlton announce up for trade. BUT will make NO COMMENT till after trade week. Fevola (via manager) says same!

Journalist doesn't want to press charges because she thinks it may prejudice future work. But would be best if Fevola was NOT in VICTORIA

Alistair Lynch is Fevolas manager...of course... Brisbane were made aware!

Fevola and wife immediately book secluded palace in QLD.

POLICE investigate Crowns Liquor Licence and view tapes. NO WAY that toilets do not have cameras in a casino!!!

Go on troll on....!!!!:)
Exactly. Carlton initially fined Fev over his behaviour. They then said they were going to talk further about it. They were obviously told the rumours but had no evidence. They opted to get rid of him, how much more can you do to an employee?

I am bewildered by claims we should have suspended him out of season? The incident happened 18 days ago, we announced he was being traded 8-9 days ago.

Also how could we have had him charged? Based on what evidence? It is up to the victim to make a complaint.

Geez people are deliberately perverse when it comes to team biases.

Agreed!

No doubt Brisbane were aware of what went on ...... I believe most clubs were aware, hence the lack of interest.

I can absolutely understand why the journalist doesn't wish to come forward. She is already a woman working in a mans world, this story will unfairly hinder her career.

The dodgiest thing is that this comes out after the trade and I think this was to help all parties.

Carlton needed Fev gone
AFL needed him out of Melbourne
Brisbane wanted Fev

None of this could have gone on if this story had been out. Brisbane officials would have be crucified by soccer Mums saying that they shouldnt take him.

The AFL told Carlton to get him out of Victoria.
And you know this as fact?

FWIW, I agree the AFL's actions towards Carlton have been pathetic.

They have been ever since the Visy money started flowing at Princes Park.

Now guys like Neil Mitchell have a hold of this story, there is going to be a media groundswell to investigate regardless now I suspect.

Could get ugly.

:confused:FFS ! ODN

I was defending Carlton for a rare change!!!:)

The only pity is Carlton let him ... continue to do TFS! rubbish ....when he was on his last warning. But no doubt ...finally might have learnt a lesson!

This has AFL intervention... stamped all over it!

Fevola is bloody lucky she doesn't appear to want to make a song and dance scandal about it!

That's an easy one, because no complaint has been made. In terms of what Fevola has or has not done there is nothing to act on. You can't force someone (the journalist in this case) to make a complaint, so at this stage it is nothing but rumor and innuendo.
If these rumors become fact, then the AFL can do something, until then it's hearsay.

Carlton knew about them and so did the afl , so did her employer yet NOTHING was done .Why not ,why wait until now ?
She hasnt made a complaint but now the AFL want to do something NOW ?

They all knew that night it happened.
Yet now and only now does the AFL want to do something about the alleged assault/s ?
Why did they delay ?
Carlton should have suspended him then not do nothing if it is true .THEN the AFL could have stepped in .
Then the police if she MAKES a complaint to them

Surely the issue is why the Herald Sun didn't report it when it happened. They have admitted they knew. They are a newspaper. This is news. It's their job to print the news. If they had everyone including Brisbane would have known, and Brisbane would not have taken him. If the victim had been anyone else and the Herald Sun found out about it they would not have hesitated to publish.

You don't really believe that Brisbane weren't aware of this do you?

In fairness they do have a responsibility here as an employer.

That takes precendence over any perceived responsibilities as a news organisation.

Wrong, wrong, wrong wrong.

Your President has admitted he heard the rumour of this act and did not investigate:

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/873735/carlton-knew-of-fevola-sex-misconduct-claims

Carlton president Stephen Kernahan today admitted the club was aware of the explosive claims but decided not to look into the details.

So before you accuse the usual suspects, how about you stop being the usual deniar?

The legacy of Elliot lives on. Pay of females who alledge sexual assualt and then when your current president hears of an alledged case, he does nothing to investigate.

Fevola, whose deal to move from the Carlton Blues to the Brisbane Lions was finalised this morning, fronted the media alongside new coach Michael Voss at Wet 'n' Wild on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

ah the irony...

The bit in all this that seemed to be missed ,he was at this function with his pregnant wife.............In my experience it would only take a fierce glance or a few harsh words and i would pull my head in.................no not hen pecked just have respect.........which makes me wonder if she either did not say anything............or he ignored her.................mmmmmmmmmmmm.

the guy has a good point - and it is disgraceful that he did that

I cant believe people were on this site saying it was a storm in a teacup etc

how can you defend fev?

Agreed.

If this were a league player, it'd be fine - the blame would somehow be twisted around onto the victim - but the Australian football industry needs to be better than that. Recognise it for what it is; reprehensible, and completely unacceptable. Hate to take the emotive tack, but imagine if it were your sister...

As for what to do with Fev, God knows... I'd hate to be the one who has to deal with it. On the one hand, he needs to be made an example of, on the other hand, I'd hate to see him miss games or have his career threatened as I love watching him play.

Disappointing as well that nobody was able to pull him aside over the course of the night and get him to have a few waters. Football clubs should all take a lesson from this.

So if it's one of their own they respect the victim's privacy, but if it's anyone else they would be all over the front page.

I repeat . . . they have responsibilities as an EMPLOYER.

Legal responsibilities.

If that's too hard for you to grasp then maybe it's best you keep you ignorant comments to yourself.

If the PC-nitwits can cause a storm in a teacup about hey hey its saturday... I guess I shouldn't be surprised they will turn Fevola into the next Ted Bundy.
Hit the nail on the head here. The media blow absolutley anything up, surely there are more pressing world issues at the moment? The timing is also very dodgy, just as his trade has been cleared, why not before this week when he was still at Carlton? O well it is the HUN I guess, not suprising.... Also to say she won't press any charges, why bring it up! ***** sakes, just let the guy go, he's copped his fair punishment since the Brownlow, just move on!

I know you guys would expect this bias from an eagles supporter but....

1 year ban for bringing league into disrepute??

Very similar circumstances, multiple offences, near illegal conduct...

Ah I see you are headline watcher. More fool you.

He actually said:

"I think everyone knows of an alleged happening at the Brownlow," he said.

"I've heard all the stories and the rumours … that's all I'm aware of and I suppose it's an AFL call from here and we're officially not involved in that.

The article just bent those words around. Hell, I heard the rumours too. Most on BigFooty heard the rumours. Our board has been full of them all week. The HUN knew about the rumours. Other media knew about the rumours. What makes you think Carlton knew more than what the rest of the football world knew?

As for doing nothing, we kicked him out of the club FFS. Stop using BigFooty to promote your personal bias and ignorance.
