Laughing at all the facebook hate for Brain Lake winning the Norm Smith. To be fair, I thought he actually played well. No midfielder stood out today and lead the charged all game, they were all fairly even and shared the role without being great. Was either Lake or Gunston. And I thought Lake had a fairly solid game and a huge last quarter, repelling attack after attack by Fremantle and intercepting a few kicks inside 50. I am happy for him, and it shows the Hawks made a smart move in picking him up.

Am I the only one not a part of the bwian love fest on this site? Ivan think of plenty more desrving true blue BULLDOGS who couple give more kudos to than a grump who took the easy route when he could no longer see anything in it for himself. I feel like vomiting

Not the only one, mate.

Not the time or place - Hawks fans wouldn't have liked it.

I do agree, but if there is no mention for us over the coming days it will hurt no doubt. At the end of the day for him it won't matter, for all our fans it will though, that's all I mean

Lake in his speech, I'm actually hurt he didn't give us a mention. I thought he would, but I'm sure over the next couple of days he will. Just would have liked it public :p

He thanked the Hawks for taking him in - like he was out on the street!
Anyway, Brian wins, Hawthorn wins, we... don't... yet? Or something? I'm making an effort to look forward now.

Final Norm Smith voting results.

Lake - 12
Gunston - 11
Mundy - 4
Hodge - 2
Fyfe -1

Interesting to see Macca was part of the Norm Smith voting panel. He voted Gunston 3, Hodge 2, and Lake 1. Everyone else gave 3 to Lake, except one other who gave him 2 votes.

The best-performed team for the year won the GF

Just as it should be

Ballantyne, Crowley and the negativity of Lyon failed yet again

Well deserved Brian, one of the greatest defenders of the era.
Kinda sad, I feel he may be remembered as a Hawthorn Norm Smith medalist rather than a bulldogs champion. I'm sure we'll welcome him back to join the hall of fame.

Very happy for B. Lake - great effort and when Schoenmakers comes back next year Hawks' defence will be impregnable

Wow that's very interesting. Although it's not like the two he voted ahead were not deserving, but methinks a tiny bit of bias might have creeped in :p

Top 2 for a Norm Smith were a KPD and a KPF

So thrilled for lake, but that was the absolute worst gf of my lifetime. Even the beltings were more exhilarating than that. Disappointing.

It was the worst I could remember. 2007 had a superb Geelong team where you could just marvel at how great they were.

Also super disappointed that there was no GF moment :(

If Brian had made better contact with the Freo guy's jaw would have been a moment

Macca explained his 3,2,1 while on abc radio, he explained it so well it convinced the other radio guys Hahahaha

I suppose I should elaborate;

3. Gunston: was the differences between the two sides at half time and did everything right basically.
2. Hodge: everytime the ball was within a 20m radius of him he turned it into a positive for his team, weather he bet his man or allowed a team mate to come in and win possession.
1. Lake: He only gave the one to Lake because Freo let him play alone down there all day, and played into his hands perfectly. He still had to get the job done though, which he did and was why he got a vote.

The way he described it so we elegant and purposeful, the man could sell dirt to the Arabs, or water to Poseidon.

This might seem stupid, but I've loved the grand final sprint since i was about 10 years old. Who won today? Danger?

PS, anyone have a copy of it?
