Yes, but then there are other members like me and my girlfriend who have been to every game this year and missed out. It is shattering at the start of a week that you should be pumped about.

Become an AFL Silver member: Hawthorn Club Support. You'd get a GF ticket any time we play an interstate side. No waiting list.

Of course there are members that miss out every year, but there are things you can do to ensure you aren't someone who misses out.

If the Swans don't sell out their allocation (if we go by the successful/unsuccessful applications they had 30 pages of applications whilst we had 37) it wouldnt surprise me if they reallocate the seats to Hawthorn members.

They've got about 5 hours to move about 3,000 seats.

No question that any left overs (they'll all be standing room) will be offered to Hawks members who've missed out

Any AFL Silver Members with Hawthorn club support will be able to get a standing room ticket tomorrow morning as well

If anyone has a spare AFL Hawks Silver membership barcode they don't intend to use...i'll take 1 or 2. I can swap a m10 standing concession ticket if it allows me to get a few tickets together

Doesn't make it right. People at my work who dont have any memberships got tickets for $100 today because they knew someone with an Full AFL membership. We have brought our memberships for years, brought our finals tickets, turned upto the games where only 20,000 people were at and we miss. Not everybody has the money to upgrade memberships every year to guarantee tickets.

And if they get asked for ID at the gate they will lose their ticket and the AFL member who gave them the ticket will lose their AFL membership. Its a big risk !

It's what the AFL wants. They want people to sign up to the 20 year AFL member wait. Slug you $500 a year for 20 years and exorbitant finals prices until you get the privilege.

MH....don't mean to intrude - I have a friend who has put down 4 AFL Silver - Hawks codes and he has not heard anything as of yet. My understanding is that he will find out tomorrow if he is successful, however he is of the belief that he will not get tickets as they have all been allocated? Can you shed some light?

I'm a priority 3 member along with another 4 mates - we got 5 standing room tickets - STOKED! After missing out in '08 and and never been able to get our hands on a gold membership, this has made it all better! Go the hawks!!

Well that'd be a first... AFL Full members pay $178 to reserve a seat. Very generous of them to sell off their ticket for $100.

Not saying the current system is fair, but it is what it is, and isn't likely to change in the future.

Well it's still showing up on ticketek, so i reckon maybe. just a little chance maybe.

Does anyone know any FULL AFL members who bought tickets recently and where they were seated/standing?

Possibility of some level Q seating available tomorrow

Goes on sale tomorrow for AFL Silver Hawks and Swans members... Swans members won't be buying any as they'll have gone through the ballot.

Going on past experience, the AFL Full members only fill their allocation if two vic teams make it.

AFL Silver Hawks members will get access tomorrow at 9am, and I'd bet that there'll still be tickets left for AFL Silver members who aren't Hawks or Swans at 12pm

Actually Shakespeare, it's a bargain...

I paid $22 for the Hawks v Pies final, $22 for Pies v Eagles, walked into Geelong v Fremantle for free, $22 for Hawks v Crows and $178 for Hawks v Swans GF.

By being an AFL member, I am still a Hawthorn member (25 years) but I'm not taking up any of the ticket allocation for Club members either.

The AFL rip off the club members for the finals matches, it certainly had an impact on crowds for the finals this year

If your friend is an AFL Silver Member with Hawthorn club support, I'm sure he knows how to get his tickets tomorrow.

Info has been posted, emailed etc...

There was a number of Pies fans who joined up in 2003 and 2004. That waitlist has grown because of that

Joined in 1991.

I have a few mates who are silver, they spent years of delaying joining...

Actually $100 for standing room 'face value', have seen the ticket myself. Good to see even our own fans aren't showing solidarity with each other. You wont convince me of anything other than that the current ticketing system is an injustice. At least a fair slice of true committed fans miss out while others float in for 1 game and purchase through avenues that lead to no revenue to the club, or line scalpers pockets.

Write to the Sports Minister of Victoria and ask him how he was able to approve this years ticketing scheme?

No reasonable sports minister could have approved the scheme considering the "purpose" of the Sports Ticketing Fair Access Act:

Purpose
The main purpose of this Act is to maximise access by members of the public to tickets to certain sports events by—

  1. (a) allowing the Minister to declare certain sports events for the purposes of this Act; and
  2. (b) requiring the sale and distribution of tickets to declared events to be in accordance with a scheme approved by the Minister, which may involve placing conditions on the sale or distribution of tickets to the event; and
  3. (c) providing offences for certain breaches of an approved ticket scheme for a declared event or of conditions on the sale or distribution of tickets to the event.
Also ask him if he can give you the Grand Final tickets the AFL have given him which he clearly couldn't accept.

The ticketing scheme is designed to minimise the access of tickets to the general public and to extract as much $$$ from the general public while putting the biggest possible veil of secrecy of the actual allocation of tickets

Pretty fair to say they'll be more and more Hawks members ditching the club membership and going for AFL membership in the next few years. When you look at our total membership, the number of AFL members with Hawthorn club support is tiny.

Not sure if anybody here is interested but I have access to one more Swans membership barcode that can purchase one concession ticket today before 5pm. Would have to message me soon though, to organise something.
