I think it shows just how big an advantage Crows and Port have had with all of SA’s talented kids

Today's ruck battle in Adelaide btw:
Strom 34 hitouts from 78 contests (43.6 win%). 8 hitouts to advantage (23.5 hta%).
Allan 30 hitouts from 58 contests (51.7 win%). 9 hitouts to advantage (30.0 hta%).

If Strom was playing instead of Sholtz Port lose that game.
When I say it, they start hate accounts.
When you say it, they hit the like button!

Eliza West 10 touches at QT, finished with 18 for the match. Just four kicks too (the last time she had fewer was in a 15-point loss to Brisbane, R4 of 2022 S7). Says quite a bit when the team with 37 handballs for the match runs over the top.

Another 1-tackle game by Tilly Lucas-Rodd who shows more fight after the final siren than during matches these days.

The bright side for Hawthorn is none of their 3 best players even made the AA squad this year. But in a game rife with young players (some dominant, some doing very little), yikes, the Baskaran situation is a bad look.

What chance do Port have next week? That last quarter was impressive. Young, fit, handled the ball cleanly despite the pressure of the match and bullied the Hawks' midfield.

Port have got a lot of good young players but unless there is a miracle on grass next week, i don't think they are defensive enough to beat 2024 version of Lions, Crows or North in a final.

They conceded 51 inside 50s to 29 of their own, both sides kicked a lot of sloppy kicks to nobody in particular, it happens in high pressure games but so far this season we have put sides to the torch that have turned the ball over a lot. My side was very similar when we came into the competition and the last couple of years has been more about improving defensively as a team and playing with more system.

I think if they bring the same kind of heat then it will make it harder for us to score but they need a lot more defensive pressure from the midfield and the forward line players to make it easier on their defense. I think the Hawks would feel very disappointed they weren't able to get the job done given the disparity in scoring opportunities.

What's the Baskaran situation?

What's the Baskaran situation?
Top 10 draft pick, had a promising start to her career (7th in club B&F at age 17, Rising Star nom following year).

Suddenly struggled to get a game with the new coach (other young players with less ability seemingly been given greater leeway for poor performances).

Now reportedly has multiple clubs pursuing her, perhaps not unlike the way Hawthorn sniffed an opportunity with Eliza West after she was dropped ahead of finals last year.
