X-rays have confirmed Dustin Fletcher has a cracked left fibula with further scans tomorrow to determine the length of time the champion full back will be sidelined. Fletcher sustained the injury when he was tackled early in the third quarter.

The best case scenario for Fletcher is that the crack is hairline which would sideline him for about a month. If the scans reveal more significant damage, the Bombers could be without Fletcher for the next eight weeks.

On a positive note, Mark McVeigh will attempt to push himself up for selection this week. McVeigh has been struggling to shake an ankle injury but is some sort of chance of lining up against the Hawks.

Injuries are killing us. No just now, we have been struggling with the injuries curse for the last couple of seasons :(

here we go again, Essendon to blame injures for another poor season yet again. How many years have they been doing this for now?
Every club has injuries.

McVeigh was rushed back too soon, poor injury management. Should be back soon anyway.
Daniher has a minor complaint
Skipworth is VFL depth only, no loss. And he'll be back in 2 weeks
Reimers is a loss but as a second year player you shouldnt be relying on him
Welsh is a loss
Prismall was drafted injured. No excuse there, the club chose to play one short on their list this year
Laycock is a hack.
Gumbleton is just another disastrous Essendon draft pick like Lee and Johns before him.
Hille is a huge loss.
Fletcher is at the age where you can expect injuries. To be relying on him at his age is a disgrace.

Bottom line, only Welsh and Hille are important long term losses.

Essendon's spine wouldn't look out of place in an EJ Whitten game. They have to expect a few injuries. Surely Lloyd and Lucas are next in line?

1. Skipworth isn't VFL depth. He was in the top 5 for goal assists before his injury so he must be doing something right
2. Reimers is 3rd year
3. Laycock is still a better option than Hooker/Bellchambers and would allow us to play Ryder back/forward
4. I'd like to know how Gumby is an 'disastrous Essendon draft pick'. Certainly has nothing to do with on-field performance in which case it surely can't be Essendon's fault
5. It's funny how when Fletch/Lloyd/Lucas go from being past it to being the key on how well Essendon plays isn't it?
