I’m not supporting the challenge.

To have the view that the ‘common man’ shouldn’t be given these opportunities - that is bullshit.

People from all sections of society offer valuable insights. Being a corporate success is not the be all and end all, as much as they’d like to have us think it is.

Of course not but the club is a big business these days. You need these people on there. Not exclusively, however.

Sounds like a politician blaming the previous government. He's been there 3 full years and was there when Bolton was sacked. If he can't move duds on in that time, particularly when a coaching change occurs, he's also a dud.

From all reports, this was put to Teague end of last year, and Teague wanted to keep his assistants.

The 100 signature threshold is terribly outdated, it’s a joke. As I said earlier – with our current election structure, a professional ticket attempting a spill should not be rejected outright considering our recent history.

Bring good people onto your ticket, outline both a strong business & football plan and show me at least 4,000 signatures (5% of members).

This Carlton NOW thing is a sham.

Bfevola is kinda right. This isn't the VFL anymore with blokes having a kick around on the weekend after working Monday-Friday.

I know we love our club, but our supporters aren't any smarter than the average footy pundit. And I find it kinda worrying that all it takes is 100 of the beer-swilling pie-eating dudes you see at the footy on a Sunday to create this sort of problem in a multi-million dollar organisation.

The threshold to push for a board spill needs to be brought way, way up.

Part of the changes to the Club constitution proposed is changing the threshold from 100 members to 5% (~4000 members) which got Vince's knickers in a twist earlier this year and started his entire campaigner campaign.

No sure if this belongs on here or on another thread, but anyone else have fears this will cause division in the playing group? Especially the way Teague was treated?

Full disclosure I wanted him gone purely based on his lack of improvement as a coach, but he was well and truly humiliated this week and no one deserves, that irrespective of their shortcomings.

Just wondering if some players consider their future at this club given how it has treated its people. Also thinking of someone like Eddie Betts who has gone on record for Teague and the lasting impact he will continue to have on some of the players at the club who look up to him. Surely he wont be pleased in the way they've handled this.

I really hope the playing group can look past the off field events which happened this week, take some accountability and admit that as a collective they didn't perform this season at a high level and strive to be better as a group next season.

Can't say I know how a football club operates but I know if this were an office environment and I saw my boss treated like that by senior management on the way out I would probably go home and start looking for new jobs on seek.
Players need to HTFU.
The media humiliated DT. It was their narrative ,their constant whining and carping, that exacerbated the whole thing.
DT was gone, we all knew it, so did DT.

Gut feeling for me is radical change but staged over time, more methodical than reactive.
And ignore drooling Fox Sports journos hammering the table, demanding to be fed their puréed apple NOW.

Was just reading a fox article that mentions relationship between Lloyd and Lyon had deteriorated since Lloyd’s departure from freo so most likely Lloyd will go as well if we hire Lyon as coach.
unless it's similar to the reporting on Ross & Cerra's relationship

Is there a risk that if we get a bunch together who are all a bit matey that they don't challenge each other enough?

Eg Ross coaching and SOS as HoF.
SOS and Diesel.
Throw in Ross' mate Steve Rosich who would have to be a chance for CEO.

Are you better off with guys who aren't as close who are perhaps more prepared to give honest feedback?

It only matters if they force others out through weight of numbers and if things aren't going well football wise.

Don't quote me but you only need like 0.2% of the members or something stupid. He probably only has 50 signatures.
Dont shoot the messenger but I have it on authority they have the number of signatures necessary to submit. The questions are:
1. Will they pass scrutiny and be deemed valid
2. Will enough people valid to vote turn up and have the numbers to vote the spill. I would doubt it but stranger things have happened.
Sayers and Co aren't dills.

Vanilla? Nah, solid gold.
really interested in your take on this last week's insanity, msr..........

A shocking & unnecessary implosion, once again putting the club in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The treatment of Teague was not unlike the embarrassing falling out the club had with Malthouse in his final days at the club.

The internal review findings were obviously quite scathing of the coaching panel, but if, as has been hinted at, the negative feedback came from fringe players who might have had an axe to grind with Teague & Co because they didn't believe they were getting a fair go, then this just confirms my belief, which I have expressed many times on here, that the tail is still wagging the dog at the club. If so, then the review was a total waste of time.

My only hope is that we don't just rush in & appoint Lyon as senior coach without a proper selection process. The messiah mentality has not served our club well in the past & we need to learn from this. It may well be that there are candidates out there who can bring to the club an approach which is better suited to the AFL competition circa 2022.

With the likes of Walsh, Weiters, Harry, Charlie, Crippa, Stocker, Kemp, we have a really strong base to build a successful team around, but this will be wasted if we continue to repeat the mistakes we have been making for the past 20+ years.

Sayers looks better equipped to deal with the media parasites than MLG was.

MLGs strengths lay elsewhere, not everybody needs to be a media performer. Sayers from what I saw is better in front of the camera but still isn't really all that polished. Anyway, I have never cared about that type of thing, more interested in how they perform in the important areas of their jobs.

Get the place running properly and bring us success and I couldn't give a stuff what they say in front of a camera.

Vince is on SEN now, bloke is an absolute clown. Surely we dont have enough members stupid enough to get this bloke up.
he appears on blue abroad and bluebaggers global and people watch that......

MLG would have needed 2 changes of shirts if he fronted that press conference:p

The board should face the vote of the members. If they are good enough, they should have nothing to fear. Sayers if he appoints Cooke, brings back SoS and a decent coach has a solid case. It is the board members' assumption they are not accountable to the members that is dangerous

Whilst I think the timing of an EGM and spill is terrible, the members have rights under the constitution and thats what democracy is. You are right, if Sayers thinks he is the right man with the right team, front up, pitch your case and let the members vote. If this other bloke as is a bad and unprofessional as people make out, Sayers should nothing to worry about.
Sayers reckons he has reached out to him to discuss his grievances but hasn't returned calls. Try harder to resolve this and defer any spills to a much later much later at least. This shit will affect the search for a coach, its the last thing the club needs right now.
