If anyone does get the book, I'll be interested to know what Tom Doedee's height is quoted as. It seems to fluctuate wildly depending on the source.
Doubt he is any taller than 190 after a photo I saw of him and Payne the other day. He made Payne look like a giant, which I know he is but the size difference in all areas was (shall I say) noticeable.

It's really not the same though.
No, you're right. When you buy shares on the ASX, 100% of your money goes to whoever you bought the shares off, and 0% of it goes to the company whose shares you now own.

When you buy tickets to home games or a membership, a large % of your money goes directly to the club. So on that basis supporters/members have even more right to these sorts of details pertaining to key personnel than shareholders.

The shareholders don't generally get to find out who the best salesman or most productive coder and their metrics though, or how many sick days they might have had, etc.
I guess it depends on your measure of who is key personnel. I'd argue (pretty strongly) the players at a football club are, much like directors and executives of a listed company, the most important people at that organisation.

I see Charlie Comben is on the same page. I don't have much of an idea about his football ability, but he's certainly setting himself up for a media career once he hangs up the boots. He will probably get a rap on the knuckles from the AFL or the AFLPA for this and told to stay in line. Which makes it all the more impressive.

I'd argue it's softer to list the players weights. Cornes makes the argument that as a commentator he uses the weights to identify mismatches between players. Well if he can't do that by looking at the players themselves, he's not worth his salt as a commentator.

I get that player's physical conditions are their business and the club's, but are they the public's business? I'll argue till I'm blue in the face that even height is a somewhat useless stat.

I can't remember a decision by the AFL that I've cared less about.

Lol yeah let's blame the women 🙃
So explain why the issue around female athletes weight is such a sensitive topic when clearly overweight ones weight is actually discussed or worst yet there excess weight can’t be criticised like when years earlier a male athlete carrying extra pounds is rightly criticised?

All seems coincidental to me and another of these ridiculous topics to protect the many snowflakes out there.

So why weren’t you critical of weights being published like five years ago when it wasn’t an issue or maybe you were an I never seen it. I find it funny so many get on bandwagons of things when they could easily have gotten in their high horse years earlier but interestingly are stone silent until they have the backing of the woke masses

Sorry this is a touch ridiculous.

We don't even get useful information from the GPS club but you want them to keep their draft weights on their website?

And purchasing a ticket to attend their games entitles you to that and more?

I honestly can't reply to something so thoughtless and ignorant. Do better McIvor.

GPS details would indeed be very interesting. Good idea.

Pretty sure Fev and Relton Roberts were both listed as the same weight for every year of their career, which tells you all you need to know about how it was a load of s**t in the first place and anyone clutching their pearls over it might as well get upset that fairy tales don't always start with "once upon a time".
You have just shattered my childhood.
I will need therapy now. Will BF pay for it

Apparently, weight for sports people is not important anymore.;)
Disingenuous bullshit. No one's been saying that. The discussion is over whether the public have a right to know players' weights - I've not heard anything to indicate that clubs are banned from weighing players or anything.

First they stopped selling plastic Australian flags at Woolworths and now I can’t access out of date information on a player’s weight.

Australia has gone to shit.

Who knows, maybe that's next. After all, skinfold tests applied to everyone until Chris Johnson came along. Leigh Matthews, ahead of his time, yet again.

No sense of humor today dianod. Did you miss the ;)
My two tongue in cheek post prior to this were "shattered my childhood" and "run a poll i say"
Maybe i also should have stuck to the safer Simpsons gifs instead of the images.
Maybe the images got you riled up, but you did not say so.

Where in my post or previous posts did i say or infer "I've not heard anything to indicate that clubs are banned from weighing players or anything." Where did that come from?

Disingenuous bullshit. Pretty harsh words from a moderator and you really did not explain why you think that.

No one's been saying that: You are correct they have not but don't forget the ;)
However even without the ;) why can't a poster bring up something that no one has been saying. It's a forum.

On this: I started the discussion and stated i don't see any logic in withdrawing the players weights.
I also said i won't lose any sleep over the decision.
I have posted my serious point of view on the issue in other posts.
I also understand other posters would have different views and they do.

It didn't come across as tongue in cheek, it came across as misrepresenting the discussion to ridicule those posting about it

Completely disagree with that assessment.
In what way was my post "misrepresenting" the discussion.

How in the world could you come to the conclusion that i "ridiculed" other posters on this subject.
In all the years i have been on this forum i have not once ridiculed any poster.

You really have not answered my question about your "Disingenuous bullshit" comment.

disingenuous

adjective

  1. not sincere, especially when you pretend to know less about something than you really do

It didn't occur to me. I cannot remember the last time I even sought out the information or thought about whether it was available. That's how useless a stat it is for me. If it had been taken away and no one had twigged, I (and many) would have been none the wiser.

How does any change affect you personally?

The world has gone crazy and I bet it’s more to do with the AFLW because god forbid anyone can call any of them fat or overweight, which many are. I mean seriously when has a male players weight really been that much of an issue aside from say Fev at times or Whale Roberts or even one of the indigenous boys whose name escapes me that regularly came back in the off season unfit.

It really is insane how soft and precious younger people s feelings are these days.

All seems coincidental to me and another of these ridiculous topics to protect the many snowflakes out there.

this has to be parody right?

youre posting about how soft and precious young people are and labeling others as snowflakes whilst being by far the most emotionally charged poster on this extremely inconsequential topic
