Continued in Part 2

Anyone seen Mitch's new haircut? Just when I thought he couldn't get me further on side he went and brought back that classic Acker style.

I'm guessing he did it to help raise funds for the bushfire victims?
He needs the contrasting dark Goatee.

I think he said he'd do it if he raised $10k ... got 15 :)

When was the last time that a completely new team with no history was successful, in any sport? Titans, Suns struggle, GWS average crowds, not sure how Western United go in the A League? I'd prefer to see Ipswich Jets or Logan Brothers get a go, or Redcliffe Dolphins or something, playing out of Brisbane.
If I recall correctly, the Broncos themselves were somewhat successful only a short (about 4 years?) while after entering the national comp.

True, Adelaide Crows didn't have a history in SANFL did they... have to go pretty far back to find examples tho. Maybe Melbourne United in basketball and Melbourne City in soccer? Can't say for sure

As above I think Melbourne Storm is probably the most recent.

Melbourne United I think were a re-brand of the already successful Tigers so dont think they count.

Western Sydney Wanderers entered the competition in 2012 and finished on top of the ladder in 2013 but lost the Grand Final. Not sure which way around is the more prestigious for A-League. Premier or Champion?

This article reminds me of the old expecting free kicks to be more or less even. I imagine the same kind of patterns can be seen in how AFL umpires pay them, as this example from baseball.

"As a final test, the team analysed umpires’ decisions in Major League Baseball games. In this case, the umpires were about 1.5% less likely to call a pitch a strike if the previous pitch was also called a strike – a small but significant bias that could make all the difference in a game. Kelly Shue, one the co-authors of the study, says that she was initially surprised at the results. “Because these are professionals and they're making decisions as part of their primary occupation,” she says. But they were still vulnerable to the bias."

Given how are players are performing I expect quite a few players will draw trade attention over the next few years.

Here’s hoping father fagan and co have created an atmosphere that will keep players Hereford three peat. After that level of service I’d give my blessing for them to go dollar hunting.

Having said that, by then we’ll have a 30 membership readership group and who’d throw that opportunity away?

I expect Hugh McCluggage to get some massive offers over the coming years. I just had a look at our roster thread, 24 players coming out of contract the end of 2021 including McCluggage, Andrews, Rayner, Cameron, Bailey, although you would expect a fair few contract extensions over the course of this season.

2-3 years ago we would have been ecstatic to have those types of players tied up for the next 2 years. Would hope with the uptick in performance and support the main ones sign on this year for extensions.
