Haha these threads.

“That’s it, NEVER watching again!!!”….until next week. We’ll all be here.

“That’s the END of Rawlings and Brown. NEVER AGAIN!!”.. yeah, nah. They’ll all still be here. Don’t worry.

“TURNER SHOULD NEVER WEAR THE JUMPER AGAIN!!” …and yeah you’re probably right. Maybe we’ll delist him. Then relist him. Then expect something different to happen. Then all meet here, same place, same time next year. You know it.

“Larkey is soft”… yeah, til he kicks 3 easy ones next week and we all feel better.

On a positive note.

Sheezel is not human, looked like Stevie J when swung forward in the last.

More of it in the final few rounds please.
He’s a real shout to win the rising star in a position he had not played in until round one this year.

The kid is going to be brilliant.

It’s an indictment on the coaching group that they wait till we are about to lose the game before Harry gets moved up the ground.

He’s too good in the f50 to continue playing in the d50.

Our kicking to Larkey was woeful though, gave him no bloody chance kicking it so high.
Yes it usually is but today Hurn used every ounce of his AA experience to give Larkey a bath and Larkey let him..

Wasn't impressed with Viney's answer to the very good question about what will be/has been done to improve our fitness. He acted as though it was a non-issue - said we spent 5% extra on game plan so 5% less on fitness

Vodd, how about just concentrate on getting the players 20% fitter instead of running a school holiday program for adults over preseason. That way we might be able to compete against WAFL standard sides.

And also do the extra work on the game plan with the players. You can do both.
If you're a player and you're being told by Viney, Monky, Ratts, to get fitter, are you going to take them seriously?

Larkey was leading to the ball because Hurn was letting him and as Larkey would put his hands up Hurn would use his body to nudge him under the ball and take the mark..

After it happened the first couple of times I thought Larkey would stop his lead while the ball was in the air and let Hurn cannon into his back or at least stifle Hurns ability to push him under the ball, but alas not to be..

Larkey was very, very, very crap today.

Leeds United Football club were just relegated from the Premier league a couple of months ago. Amid a massive downslide in form last season, dropping them into the relegation zone, their captain Liam Cooper, stood up in the middle of the dressing room after a defeat, and addressed the squad, with one, loud, pointed message.

"If you don't want to be here, then F*CK OFF".

it is now printed in the training ground change rooms.

I am hoping LDU has just screamed those exact words in the Optus Stadium changerooms.

Enough is enough. This club is on its absolute knees. This is rock bottom.
I don't think LDU particularly wants to be here after the last couple of months tbf

I don’t think Larkey leads at the ball carrier. At best he stands with his hand up. We don’t kick it to him well, granted, but he doesn’t help himself.

I think Larkey needs another Tall KPF down there as a foil.

I still think he’s better leading rather than planting down in the fwd 50
He needs someone to be there who can take a contested mark

YES.

This is what I've been saying for years and people told me I'm crazy, but Larkey's leads are awful.

He doesn't lead when he should.
Then when he does lead, he leads into the wrong space, or worse into the direct path of a team-mate who has a better position.
He flies for pack-marks when he should stay down, and he stays down when he should be going for the mark.

He routinely makes the wrong decisions, and this far into his career his feel for the craft of being a key forward in the modern AFL is sorely lacking.

He's had a good season and he has some parts of his game that clearly work, but too often still he relies on free kicks, or getting balls out the back of a pack for getting his goals.

No matter how bad it seems, we always find a way to dig ourselves deeper into the hole.
Have lost all positive feeling towards the club, and it's getting harder and harder to carry on any emotional investment.
Just want a sign of a brighter future. But it's just not there, it never is.

The anger I felt walking out of the ground today, was close to the strongest I've felt. A win would've made me feel slightly better, but only papered over the cracks.
There is no hope, none

On what planet are the Match Committee living that they think Kayne Turner adds more than a fit and firing Hugh Greenwood. FFS be honest with yourselves.
Did you see the 2nds today? Was an ordinary watch.

We could make the 30's look competitive where we seem to be heading.

I ****ing called it that this game was going to break the club in half either way, and the worst part is that it was an almost game but if we just remained competitive for more than 2 quarters we would've won easily, but again how many times has that been said of our myriad of losses because we lose across the line. We lost on selection, we lost on strategy by doing predictable zoning, and we lost the only part of the game we held West Coast at when it came to turning the tide at the stoppages the rest was dismal, especially turnovers and scoring out of defence.

The entire game was like that, each and every team, even the bottom team like West Coast who are really terrible and are in the early stages of the pain their about to embark on, got the best of us from player against player, coach against coach where they can easily stream out of their full back defence and into their F50 and stay there to put scoring pressure on. Meanwhile, North, rarely at all this season can stream out of its backline and even manage to deliver it to the 50 much less keep it there.

There's no point trying to pick and diagnose the singular problems or symptoms of what is a very complicated and widespread disease that has metastasized over years, maybe even since the Carey fallout, but assuredly since Scott's tenure. The proud club culture is long gone, its spoken about alot but when was the last time you saw that week in and week out. It's not enough to demand a single win to snap a very horribly embarrassing loss streak, this club needs to demand consistency every single day, not just game days. Our standards are pitifully low and accepted by leaders who have gone most of their career on low standards (looking at you McDonald), fitness and development is non-existent and sometimes going backwards and club culture is eroded into a losers mentality where this team snaps the moment it puts in some effort, and the opposition realises its on, puts an equal amount of pressure which in return melts us down to a bunch of witches hats who can't even pull off the basics.

This loss is just another one in the season, but the symbology of it in context to the opposition, the season and the greater picture of where we stand is far greater than people realise, this is a new low point and the fact we're still hitting these when the whole point of the last 2 years was to look ahead to potential has left us feeling the opposite is such an indictment on the club and It doesn't help when the messaging isn't selling anymore. Supporters have had it and no amount of letters, social media posts or platitudes spoken about whatever will cut it, the action is being asked of it, and if they can't even get up for Ratts or Clarko what do you even do aside from gut the list AGAIN and start over yet have no real trade capital.

Club's in a ****ing pit. It'll take years to fix and the only way to fast track this is if the AFL does give us a hand out, and the rest of the comp can suck it up frankly because if you play us twice in a year you're guaranteed 8 points and good win % most likely, so if North is gonna suffer like this the whole fairness of the league suffers.

Interesting point that. Given how fit Viney was in his playing days, it's surprising to see how much he's put on. But Neil Balme was heavy when he was in a similar role in Geelong's 2007, 09, 11.

Either way, our lack of fitness has been there for five-plus years. Senior players not doing enough. We get exhausted and outnumbered every week - usually after there's been a bit of circle work.
