I don't think Lobb will be facing us next week
I think he will play if his ankle is not serious as he has a history of them.

One of his best games for them was the first against us, the "Lobster Tears" game.

He is obviously fighting some mental demons at the moment which is not helped by Colon putting it out there that he is looking to get traded mid season and mid contract.

That is just a dumb move when competing for a spot in the team.

He has been badly advised and managed but he has also not helped himself either.

He is very inconsistent and I am not a fan of him as a person but he has the potential to pull out a decent game when it suits.

Sorry but I had to share

He showed his true colours long ago and the Colin Young thing, the documentary stuff was farcical; unfortunately Bulldogs fans are finding out the hard way (not your fault your club decided to trade him in), this man has no heart when it comes to his football - he doesn't play for the passion of the game at the forefront of his endeavour; he plays for the dolllaaarrrrrrrrrrrrssssssssss. And only the dollars. If he were amazeballs, it might be forgivable, but he's clearly a very ordinary footballer when all is said and done. Gotten away with daylight robbery for the money he's earnt.

He's a mercenary grub and I'm glad he's getting his just desserts. He played one very good year at Freo in 2022, the rest were average to ok at best and he wasn't worth the trade price nor the asking fee when we recruited him in 2018. Hopefully you get rid of him at season's end, make him someone else's problem. He'll be looking for one more juicy pay day!

Just wondering whether anyone has visited the Doggies board to get an honest review of his performances to date? I just can’t help but think back to when they pinched him and the trade being weighted in their favour asserted that they’d made out like bandits. How’s that going?

I agree with him but also disagree on the bit about his management. For as much as Colon is a massive cretin, it is his job to sell his client in the best way possible and to get the best deal for him. If painting the Dogs in a bad light does that then it is his job to do it.

He’s making his clients relationship with his current club near untenable & putting extra pressure on his client to perform to attract interest for next year. Those discussions can be had on the quiet with potential new clubs, using the media at this point just makes his client look like a sook.
He hasn’t read his client very well, he is not mentally strong enough to go down this path.

Think people are underselling what Lobb did for us tbh. He’s a bit soft but overall he added a bit for us imo. First couple of years he protected a 3rd year Darcy from needing to play the no.1 ruck role because Sandilands was always injured by then. Third year he still averaged well over a goal a game whilst being the back up ruck and playing in a sh** team. Fourth year he kicked 35 goals. He was okay here - not worth the reported pay packet but if you ignore that he was still an okay player for us. Trade price was about right imo.

Also the trade to Western Bulldogs was heavily in our favour and despite the clubs demands, always was. Two second rounders for a 29 year old B-Grade ruck/forward. That’s the problem with ruck/forwards though - league wide there’s only ever been two at most at the same time that are match winners yet clubs pay big dollars for them and use high draft picks on KPFs that can play ruck. Unless you can get a generational talent like Jackson it’s probably better to just play a KPF that doesn’t ruck all that well there in that role and have your no.1 ruck do the ruck 75-80%.

Lobb was fine for us in the time he was here, but once the rumours got out that he wanted to leave I think all the good will he had built up was lost, sure he played well in his last season for us, but it felt like he was buffing his trade value up more than anything, same with Henry last year.

When he came across here with Hogan it genuinely looked as if the two of them along with the likes of Taberner and McCarthy would form a pretty good forward line, we never got to see it properly in action for an extended period of time though, at least that season Matera ended up having career best form.

Don't often agree with the sanctimonious git but he is spot on here

is that someone laughing in the studio where Gerard is..?!?! I mean I'm no fan of the toad, but that seems distinctly unprofessional if it's other media grubs. Hardly surprising.

And agree with what he says, just emphasizes the point many of us here are making. He couldn't care less

Oh 100%.
Thought he was huge at crucial times.
Don’t forget he kicked two pearlers in a row v Bulldogs in 2022 elimination final. On his day, he’s elite. His contested marking can be a real asset.

But that’s his heart. He reminds me of Kurt Tippett. Know they’re tall, fit and AFL is easy at times. But just no heart nor guts to tough it out like Serong does.

That GWS game in Canberra I think int 2019, was that hope we had something of a forward line.
Matera kicked 4
Tabs has 13 marks, 3 goals
Hogan got 3.
Walters was at his best with 3.
One of my favourite Fremantle games

It was causing headaches. Too bad Hogan never got going.

Hogan really talked up the partnership with Tabs.
Shame it never aligned for Jesse.

Colin did a delightful job of taking Logue, Lobb and Henry to the absolute worst teams for their ability and stage of careers.
Logue at North. Ouch.

Lobb at Bulldogs. Why? Why overload with talls? Melbourne would’ve been the dream. Gawn rucks 80-90% and Lobb gets games every week as forward.

Henry at St Kilda with Hill and Wanganeen-Milera makes no sense. He plain stinks for them. Sharp has overtaken him immediately

Saints fans seem to love Henry as thought he’s the second coming. I don’t get it at all. He’s played one good game vs Pies but other than that he’s been plain average. He disposal yesterday under the tiniest bit of pressure was poor

Lobb to the Dogs was the most Confusing . He is their 4th best Tall forward , Very strange .

Darcy Tucker played OK yesterday for Norfs I thought.

Not outstanding, but solid game. He really hasn't had the level of opportunities there that I thought he would get when he left. At the time I thought it was a good move for him as he wasn't in our best 25 anymore but (I thought) would easily be top 15 in that Norfs side.

He's had an injury or two but I still don't get why they don't play him more than they do.

Logue to North made a lot of sense. I genuinely believe he wanted to stay at Freo but got persuaded as a result of money and preferred position. Freo played Logue but as a third forward tall. If he is playing right now he would be their number 1 key defender. North have missed Logue big time. The start of second round and start of third round is slight unders but North genuinely threatened PSD. Darcy Tucker was surplus and like Meek they accommodated depth player a return to Vic.

Lobb - was definitely pushed to the wrong team. Made zero sense. Tim English, Sam Darcey and co. They also had Jordan Sweet as a back up that they then traded out and others in the mix. Dumb and dumber comes to mind and as it turns out he will be traded out. We didn’t do badly out of that. Prob got some of his better years and got reasonable trade value out because he was still under contract. As I’ve posted previously, the trade was Lobb and Meek > Hugh Davies, big Knobel and JOM.

Henry to Saints also a bit strange. They prefer Mason Wood and Brad Hill on Wing. As such Henry has been playing HHF. This is not his preferred because he isn’t a good kick at goal and forward craft is not his strength. Hopefully Saints fall in the bottom six and a pick in the early second round is solid enough.
