Always want more from trades - particularly given 2 remaining years on contract and potential list depth concerns.

Realistically if we wanted more we should have continued playing fish at the back end of the season ie best 23, averaging 25+ as a damaging half back

I mean F3 is a little bit of a throwaway when they get to death ride our first pick all year.
 
Don't mind the fisher trade. Either Austin has a purpose in mind or as the BF draft experts have indicated, you can throw a blanked over that section of the draft.

Whole deal is also probably about salary cap relief too.

I mean we have been trying to crack down on people using laughing emojis to troll other posters ... althought I think you know that too.

Apologies for the intrusion, but is Fisher actually a good kick over <40m distances? Or just average? I know he lacks penetration so he'd surely need another string to his bow if he's been up for selection semi-regularly for a team that made a prelim. Cheers
 
I don't know this draft as well as others, but from what I am reading it seems the quality drops off after the top 10, and that from pick 15 or so it is a pretty even field.

If that's true, then this trade (even in isolation) seems good to me:
  • If we keep the picks, we now have two picks in the 15-30 group. In a lottery, I would rather two tickets instead of one.
  • If we are planning on trading, we will now be trading 21 instead of 17. I don't 17 would have got us anything radically different from 21 would get us in a trade. So, we might end up with a bonus second rounder (25).

Still, the reality is that this trade won't be judged in isolation - keen to see where this goes.

I like it as a hypothetical. Let's say we did that trade, our draft hand for 2024 would have no first, but 2x second rounders and 2x third rounders. That's pretty much exactly what you want when you are you are going to need to match two FS bids. Then, if we need more capital, we have next year's trade period (and 2025 picks) to help fill gaps.

Of course, there's still more to play out (Dow, Hollands, etc.), but if we ended up with Pick 8, Hollands and that draft hand for 2024, I reckon that's not a bad result.

Penetration isn't that bad, and his vision is his weapon when he uses it, finds good options.

Good player to get the ball to in transition as he'll find gaps.

Works a lot better in space, but has tricks when in the contest.

Good player, too small for a full time mid role but brings creativity and good use.

Best of luck to him and you guys (except against us)
