We’ll do the best deals we can for Dow and Fisher.
Fisher is contracted so we can apply a little pressure to North.
Shame we can’t turn Fisher and Young into pick 19.
Encouraging to hear we’re after pick 7 (Cats) maybe this and next year’s 1st rounders ?

If we can bring in O’Sullivan with pick 7 …

Collard with the proceeds from our Fisher/Dow deals …

And E.Hollands …

We’ll have done well …

Here is what I think will happen over the trade/ draft period.

Dow to saints for Future 3rd
Fisher to North for pick 42
Pick 42 traded to GC for E Hollands

Rookie promotions Boyd and Cottrell

Draft pick 16 (probably end up pick 21) DeMattia

One list spots left open for either pre- season supplement select or mid season draft.

The media will bring up trading McKay 27 times before the end of the trade period.

Your maths is off, we would have 1 more spot

Cheers for the insight, Soapy V - any talk/word about Pick 7? Is that in our earnest plans?

If we can pull in a top 10 pick plus Hollands/depth, then bring in the Campo boys next year (and Cody after that) then we will be in a VERY good position with young talent for when Crippa/Newy/Doc retire.

Blues list manager Nick Austin said the club was happy to negotiate a trade for midfielder Paddy Dow to head to St Kilda, and hoped to secure a future draft pick in return.

“We have some good discussions with Paddy and his management at the back end of the year. His exit meeting was really productive,” Austin said.

Best case for me?
  • Paddy traded with little fuss or stress (more for his sake than anything) for a future 3rd
  • Fish traded for a pick in the 20s (or future equivalent)
  • Hollands senior brought in for one of these picks
  • Move up to get Pick 7 and grab another talented youngster of positional need with a) good foot skills, and b) good character
  • Bring in some more talent through the draft, including pre-loading up on points for what I expect will be 2 x 1st/2nd round bids for the Campos in 2024
Otherwise, as its been stated - a lot of the work on our list has already been done and we can now put more focus on developing it and getting growth out of our young/developing players.

Very pleased that we're not going down the neo-desperate path of the Swans and *, grabbing everyone and their dog (in the case of ex-dog Hamling).

“Zac has two years to run on his contract. He has proven himself to be a quality AFL player. I had a little bit of a start with Brady over the [draft] combine, but North have a fair bit going on, too,” Austin said.
“We will be looking for something that represents the opportunities that they have presented Zac, but also what fZac means to us.”

Fisher, 25, managed only 12 senior games this season, but this included the final four, where he displayed strong form at half back, averaging 27 disposals, but was dropped ahead of the finals.

Adams disgruntled with Collingwood for giving him a hamstring injury.

Pies have transitioned him from #1 centre bounce mid to HFF/mid.

Only attended 39% of centre bounces this year (5th most for Coll mids), following seasons of 65% (#2), 77% (#1), 76% (#1) in last three years.

Would be straight into the centre square at the Swans.

FA compensation is ruining the draft
Absolutely. Scrap compo picks. I've said it before, but I reckon 'compo' for a side losing a player should be in terms of salary cap flexibility. Say North offered B.McKay $700k p.a., they can adjust salary cap for next couple if years by that amount so they have time to target a FA, or to pay forward some salaries of players to have room in subsequent years for a FA. But get rid of compo picks.

The AFL really should decide if free agency is about free player movement or clubs getting players for free.

Some of the compensation picks are well above the players worth and the more free agent compos, the further everyone gets pushed down the order.

Why should Brisbane get a free player, Adelaide get an end of 1st round compo pick and the other 16 teams have to move back.

It doesn’t make sense.
