I really don’t know how much the longer term problems, like soft tissue injuries, are the fault of the S&C guys - I don’t know enough about Sports Science - but it does seem like we have a lot of very long term injuries that get extended and 2-3 weeks is, in fact, half the season. Captain Obvious.

But if these guys really aren’t up to scratch, which I think they’re probably not, I’d hope that Belly sits down with Garlick as the new CEO, and has a good long chat about replacing Weber, and then they follow through with bringing in someone new. Kate Starr (long time Hockeyroo) has done some great things in managing the injuries of the women’s team. We could do worse than bring her on board for the men’s team. She’s highly regarded and, it appears, very competent.

If not her, there would have to be someone better to head up that department. 12 years is a long time for one person unless they are exceptional, and I don’t think that Weber is. I think it would be ugly reading if we went through the players who have been put on the park while still injured, and then reinjured themselves first or second game back. And others who have injured something else because they’re moving differently to protect the original injury.

Isn’t the fellow Hockeyroo, Jenny Morris, on the Freo Board ?.

She has worked very closely with Kate.

Yes they were strangely silent considering it was an obvious suspension.
They were strangely silent when we started to come back too - it was all party time when the Saints were killing us and King was going to kick 6 goals, but strangely subdued when we came back. I love it, just shows we are the red headed step child of the AFL and makes it all the more delicious when we knock off the favourite child :)

Brad Johnson was very critical of Long on Foxtel this afternoon while Ed was trying to make a case for Long

Yeah how was Eddie's form... 'I'm not arguing one way or the other'... then proceeds to spend 5 minutes arguing every excuse under the sun why Long might get off.

But not a word of disagreement that every other hit this weekend will get weeks of course.

The whole thing was a pretty unsavoury throwback - second rate ruckman getting cleaned up so he resorts to thuggery so he can get a kick - should really be sent off as well getting the three weeks.

Of the best 22, it could be as bad as this and for hysterics, I'll make it worst case.

Hamling
Pearce
Logue
Conca
Fyfe (hamstring?)
Walters (limping all game)
Darcy
Serong (spotted in a moon boot?)
Hogan
Young
Lobb (ankle)
Hughes (hip)
Cox (JL seemed confident he'd be available)
Sturt (JL seemed confident he'd be available)

Serong is fine and Walters has been limping after every game. He’s obviously got some kind of ankle ligament inflammation that can be played through (hopefully not requiring post season surgery).

I've got something similar. Dodgy ankle from 2009. If it's taped up and compressed enough I can play on it for a coupe of hours, twice a week with no problems - as long as it doesn't get trodden or something like that (which would cause similar pain/discomfort to someone who has a normal/fine ankle)

I'll often take a heavy hit and be limping for a day or two, but am fine the following week. And that's without the rehab, physio and medical staff that our players have access to (which come to think of it, might be why my recovery time is better than most of our AFL players).

I'm not playing at anywhere near the intensity or expectation that our players are playing with either ;)

Scar tissue probably.
I nicked my right achillies a couple of years ago and it is sore occasionally after pushing it on runs.
