We may not have the highest leaping, strongest marking or most agile ruckman in the AFL but we sure as s**t have the slowest. Lycett does not get off the ground in the ruck contests and he could not run out of sight in a month of Sundays. Scott looks cooked to me. The problem is we do not have many other options.
Was cooked last year, have no idea why the 'brains' trust 🤣 thought this year would be any different

Just a gentle reminder that Sam Hayes has a 5-2 w-l AFL record.
And (including preseason) Lycett is 1-8 from his last 9 games for the Power, with the only win being last year's practice match against the Crows.

Carr is rubbish.

I want some-one with a proven record of organised efficient football. Carr would be a sentimental favourite with many on here

but seriously we need to aim as high as possible. It's probably going to get ugly as Hinks goes thru' the death throws of an inglorious

11 yrs with us, let's take Koch out of the process and make a hard nosed decision based on everything but sentiment.

Oh and what the * is with umps allowing players to get tackled on the marks?

Josh Carr is our midfield coach and I have never seen a Port side beat up in the centre square so easily

Yep, midfield disgraceful. Did not try & win the ball. Shocking in internal trial too. Don't want Carr as coach & if they don't get rid of Hinkley I'll end up in the clink.

Credit to Chad. He might be a poor line coach but at least he doesn’t try to polish turds the way Carr and Bassett did after the WCE trial. Looking forward to their take on this one.

Addressing the players at the breaks with a backwards cap on and chewing gum.

I mean I get it, he's a cool dude and it's just a pre season game. But given the pressure this team and coaching staff should theoretically be under, a little bit of professionalism and a business like approach might not go astray.

It's just so easy for the opposition to crowd our forward line.

Poor skills on show as usual.. like wtf we are over a decade into this s**t

Backline's biggest liabilities appear to be the Captain & DBJ.. tweakable & salvageable if you have the balls to drop them.

Aside from JHF they spectate first at stoppage instead of hunt.. nothing new

Frank the Tank showed a bit and made some space up there, he might have some smarts

Anyway... Round 1 is coming and I can already hear the air raid siren... prove me wrong campaigners!
Yep JHF only midfielder that hunted the ball. The rest were disgraceful. Liked Evans in training, got some skills & work rate way better than plenty of his team mates.

McKenzie already doing a better job than Jonas, fck me Jonas should be in the SANFL round 1.

I've been telling everyone who will listen for years that he's better than both Jonas and Clurey. The coaching staff have figured out he's better than Clurey, now they just have to work out he's also better than their captain.

The only small positive I see is that there's every chance we'll be 1-5 or even 0-6 after the first 6 rounds which should see some heat being turned up on the clueless dud and make it almost certain we'll miss finals again, forcing our gutless hierarchy to finally cut him loose later in the season. Not entirely confident about this though as I can see Koch & Co desperately cooking up lame and nonsensical rationalizations for his failures no matter how badly we're going on field, as they have throughout his tenure.

There is no reason to keep Bassett. Absolute failure as a coach. A big broom is needed.

We need to ask the next defence line coach we interview, Who would win out of 100 x 2cm tall defenders and 1x 200cm forward?

Just what is the rule on being tackled from behind after taking a mark.

I get the umpire probably called Play on both times but the Freo players were definitely inside the protected area even before then. Or is it like an elliptical orbit and doesn't exist behind a player?

Did not like Burgoyne tonight - still think we should be playing bonner or McKenzie ahead of him. He just gets pushed off it way too easy.

Once he's got some muscle on him there's a spot waiting for him. Until then he's not able to defend
Please don’t ever mention Bonner and replacing someone because of his defence prowess.

So, we were efficient in the first half. However, we were outscored (specially in Q2).

Then, in the second half, we matched their score. However, while we scored behinds, they scored goals.

In brief, we've hinklied once again.

Coach Ken Hinkley said the Power, who were increasingly caught on the back foot as the Dockers handballed out of congestion, had been outplayed around the ball.

"We need to be better than we performed today," Hinkley said.

"It's not so much concern because that's what trial games are about. They give you information and we've got to do something with the information.

"We've got a lot to learn, but I'm sure we can learn a lot. Come round one we'll be right. We won't have an excuse, we'll be ready to go."

Press Conference:

Why the F can we not just go back to that fast, play on at all costs move the ball forward slingshot footy.

Yes we got caught out the back at times but F me, we still do when we move the ball with the pace of my grandma.

Get the ball forward. Give some space for our tall forwards to lead into and get the ball into them quick.

Honestly don’t think I can sit through another season of us chipping it around sideways slow as bat s**t only to bomb it forward to no one and then try to lock it into our 50. Which then inevitably fails as we can’t score as our forwards have no space to work in and the opposition just counterattacks in a heart beat and scores.

Would rather we loose 100-120 and give ourselves a chance than struggle to ever kick 10 goals and be a boring slug fest.

Move the bloody think fast as we’ve been told is what to expect!
Hi mate, your post sounds like the exact same thing we've been grizzling about on the Dockers board for years. Not sure we've fixed it yet either. Here's to 2023👍
