Don't remember this tbh, i do remember Sicily pushing Fyfe after getting him HTB and it went to shittery after that, not entirely sure what i missed after that if it was infact that.
He dug his hand into Fyfe's shoulder in that. Ugly stuff

Sicily is just angry at the world because he's a ranga.

I spent longer than i'm willing to admit pondering over our midfield this morning...

I don't know what to do but the problem of Mundy, Fyfe and Brodie in the same midfield looms large in my mind. We have too many midfielders for very few spots.
Your midfield is elite, genuinely gonna be the best in the league if it isn't already very soon.

To have Darcy tapping it down to, Fyfe, Brodie, Serong, Brayshaw, Mundy it's a great mix of big bodies, bulls, hard working both ways, ability to go forward and create mismatches and class.

First world problems, sheesh...

As a ranga, I have to call you out for rangaism and negative stereotyping here. Besides he's probably just angry at the world because there are only 7 days in a week, and all the people (ladies and gents no doubt) want some of that raction, so he's forever disappointing more people than he's pleasing. It's a real problem for us rangas. I've heard. From my other ranga mates. Not that we all just hang out together. Nope. No sir. Some of my best friends have brown hair.

Had a look again and i was correct in the first place, hit him in the chest, no other actions were dealt. Unless it wasn't recorded and you were at the game :))

Anyway, cheers big fella, great win and good luck for the rest of the year you lads are a really good chance and a good side that i'd be happy to see win the flag, you really deserve it.

Fair call my man.

I should have clarified, I had a concern that his dominance might detract from Brodie and Brayshaws capacity to hunt the ball in their own natural way.

Brodie had less than ~30 plus which hadn't happened for a while so just wanted to know if those numbers meant anything.
Just going on
You're right that it's a small thing, but I also thought it was a bit of a slap in the face to Brodie.

I think starting him in there would have been a good opportunity to reinforce how valued he is and how much he's made that spot his own. And it would have aligned with the rhetoric of Fyfe fitting in with the team rather than the team having to fit around Fyfe.

It took Brodie a long time to get into the game after that too, which we can't afford given how important he is to our centre clearances.
Disclaimer, I love Fyfey but I don't think it was a small thing. I think Estibador absolutely nailed it.
And it was disheartening to see our man Brodie faltering initially. Love JL too but I didn't like the Brodie sideline and hope it doesn't continue.

There was two actions. Find the one where Sicily copped it from Logue after

No problem. They don't all play at once. We're gold if a Mundy/Fyfe combo get first use of the footy, but neither is that quick so can be spread on rapidly if we do so need the speed of Serong and Brayshaw in there. Fyfe can play the Mundy role, so should when Brodie goes in to extract so. The 3 set ups are:

Fyfe/Mundy - Brodie resting
Brodie/Fyfe - Mundy resting or fwd
Brodie/Mundy - Fyfe fwd or resting.

Keeps Brodie & Mundy TOG to 68/70 ensuring maximum impact and ability to dominate the 3rd, Fyfe more TOG and but allowing impact (even just marking and ball retention up front).

Make no mistake, that's the worst game Fyfe will play this year, and he'll be rusty til at least round 17/18 I'd say. After that, if we're all fit, watch out.

I really like Aish and Switta running through the midfield. Fyfe pushing forward.

I agree Fyfe, Mundy and Brodie may reach a tipping point that we are a bit slow in the midfield. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

There was a centre bounce yesterday that had Fyfe, Brodie and Mundy and I nearly had a heart attack, Hawks got first hands on it and walked it out of there. That should never happen if it’s avoidable, especially the next month while Fyfe builds.

The ridiculous positional flexibility we have between Aish (tag/wing/small defender), Logue (Medium/tall forward/defender) and Fyfe (Mid/KPF) is throwing up / going to throw up some very interesting selection dilemma’s.

Just quietly, how funny is it that we confidently say a 20 touch, 1.2, 10 score involvement game from Fyfe is going to be his worst game for the year (though I acknowledge that like Mundy, he did get burned going the other way a couple of times), fun times ahead

"Good job getting on top of that Ballantyne stuff guys" - over the umpire radio right after it

Never forget.

The death of Sports Ears, AFL branded Merch, then withdrawn. Can’t have the crowd listening in can we.

Hard to be critical on Fyfe in a comeback game but he was noticeably stagnant on defensive accountability. You just rarely see that with Brodie, Brayshaw and Serong.

I’m confident we can find the balance and rotations. Needs fine tuning.

Also annoyed he didn’t release that handball when he had 2 opportunities and then got buried.

Yep. I was speechless when that happened.
CBAs for the 3rd we’re interesting when we got on top. We were +2 for the 1/4. Brodie in 7/9 and Mundy 3/9. Just seemed more balanced.
Even Fyfe and Mundy together without Brodie is a concern until Fyfe gets up to speed.

Fair call. He looked a little slow and lost at times no doubt. He did get some nice collect and release handballs out. He looked very similar for mine as he did vs South Fremantle. A couple of times he missed first option and that HTB moment came after he missed about three chances to get the ball on. Quicker decision making.

I often think the same thing of Hayden Young. Either there is no voice from team mates or just too slow. Tucker who is another that this season has struggled to adapt to the game speed.

Mundy is the one that you want having the ball on the spread from the centre contest. Fyfe and Brodie getting the ball out. Brodie is clearly well ahead of Fyfe for this at the moment. Fyfe well ahead of Brodie when it comes to playing as an effective forward.

I’d concentrate on maximising the presence of Serong and Brayshaw in the centre. Fyfe and Brodie roatating through. Mundy stints as well but preferably not when Fyfe is in the middle. Mundy can also set-up at CHF on the line and run in as another option for the release handball team to spread and deliver forward.

That is the rule though, or perhaps how it's always been paid/interpreted over the years. You can't soccer the ball when an opponent has hands on or near the ball trying to take possession.
The specific rule is that a free kick should be paid if a player "kicks or attempts to kick the football in a manner likely to cause injury". Interpreted broadly this could mean smothers result in free kicks. The original purpose of the rule is to stop players hack kicking the ball out of packs when players have their head over the ball. What Schultz did was not this, it was a loose ball in open play, and in my view he had no reasonable expectation of causing an injury kicking the ball anymore than a player in possession being smothered does. IMO it was an interpretation looking for an outcome.

Together with the bizarre umpire contact free against Fyfe and the lack of frees paid to Darcy and it's easy to conclude there was a specific bias against us for whatever reason. Who knows why, but one of the umpires has a long record of being terrible when he umpires our games so I am going to blame him.

Yeah, having watched it again I can’t agree it’s ‘kicking in danger’
