Between Nicholls doing his thing for Hawthorn, them being handed shots at goal by the umps every time they got inside 50, and them clinically slotting every half chance set shot they had, the entire game reminded me of 2013.

I think that's why I felt pretty agitated while watching. Objectively it should probably have been a pretty good game to watch but I didn't enjoy it at all.
nicholls was at the centre of sirengate as well wasn’t he? that didn’t help my mood either

Did anyone notice the Hawks players lobbying the umpires after almost every play? The one that particularly got to me was the Banfield snap to the 2nd O'Driscoll end and they were half calling it touched and half calling it needing a review for actually missing the goals. It was amazing.

Almost like they knew they needed 21 on the field to beat us... and almost did!

Ah yes, that snap they were calling for a review. At no time did the ball go anywhere near a defenders arms, they were miles away.

The complainants should be fined for deception.

Which is fair enough and Shultz didn’t complain.
The complaint then comes from the supporters who see dozens of these toe pokes and they don’t get paid.

Fair rule, but what about the times when players put in a fully fledged fast moving boot to soccer ball ?.

Toe tap is less dangerous than full blown hack.

I actually thought that despite his mistakes Logue still looked good. He has an amazing ability to compete as a small when the ball hits the ground (his pressure is terrific) and as a tall when the balls in the air. He definitely showed some forward inexperience that game but he's providing a lot each week IMO

Yeah he’s three games into the role and doing a good job. If he can keep learning and growing from it, he will no doubt be much better after another nine games

Yeah same, he was definitely schooled by Sicily a few times, you could see him get out-positioned and then think he could get back into the contest but Sicily was just too good.
Overall though he still showed plenty in the role, particularly his second and third efforts. He also got a hand in on some contests he had no right to, which resulted in a couple of goals.

The bit I thought let Logue down yesterday was his marking when he had a clear grab. Like the one he dropped in the middle after Mundy went the corridor.
I'm assuming the ball was a bit slippery, but all of our rucks and forwards struggled with even semi-contested marking.

Logue gets to so many contests but last night dropped around 5 marks he should have or could have taken. One day soon it’s all going to click. Second and third efforts are incredible for a forward.

Get that feeling too. Reminds me of Tabs early on. Got to so many contests but couldn’t stick the marks. Logue goes at everything full throttle.
Once he clunks 5 marks then he ll clunk 10. He’s building.

That was a tough fought out game as the Hawks are a better team than their ladder position suggests
After our guys getting up mentally and physically for the last two weeks and knocking off the comp leaders I think we relaxed a little but still had the composure to slog out a win.
Its also the first game where I thought some of our guys were a bit gassed in the last quarter - which could be attributed to the last two weeks one would think- good time for the bye.
We’re starting to get some steel in our spines - I like it.
Yes.
Our boys looked a bit flat, depleted after the adrenaline output of the Demons and Lions games. Add in the Fyfey fanfare (and Brodie shuffle) disturbing the order a bit, and I thought we were in for a loss.
But Freo took a collective deep breath and summoned that extra effort. So good to see.

Sicily is a very good player, but deviates into Steven May territory at times. Steps over the line for “unscrupulous acts”.
He’s a bit of a grub. Not as bad now as he was when he was younger pre-injuries, but a grub nonetheless.

Agree. I want JL to persist with him forward. He maybe doesn't quite believe in himself as a forward just yet.
Once his confidence is up - look out!

True. But also discredit, as wasn't it Sicily who did his best to gouge into Fyfe's injured shoulder? Crap act whoever it was.
Don't remember this tbh, i do remember Sicily pushing Fyfe after getting him HTB and it went to shittery after that, not entirely sure what i missed after that if it was infact that.
