Have you seen Sam Mayes' video? We'd be crazy to go past that kid if we had the opportunity. He's like Mundy with intensity.

We already have him. Now we need to get someone who can help him. If you look at all of the top teams this season you will notice that they all had some tall timber up forward. Sydney, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Adelaide and even the Toasters

Trade Radio mentioned that we are interested in Gumbleton, but if that deal doesn't occur then we probably won't make any other trades.

But going with your comment we shouldnt have drafted Pavlich at #4 because he is not 194cm

Tell me who the power forwards are for Sydney? LRT, Goodes, Reid and Pyke are not power forwards.

Anything worth mentioning from todays trade week period...

Dylan Roberton ??

No. Bondy said the Roberton thing will probably happen late if at all. Broughton will probably only be moved on if Ross doesn't see him as a first 22 player. Hansen unlikely as he is believed to be close to re-signing with North. Gumbleton being chased by WB. Apparently WB is 'holding sway in his mind' at the moment.

Sydney might not exactly have Power Forwards but those guys aren't shrimps. Even Cox isn't a Power forward but being 203cm tall aure hasn't hurt him from causing a fair bit of damage up forward so the smaller (191-192cm) guys in Kennedy and darling getting their hands on the ball.

He's nearly gone and 2 of him ...

Broughton had a hand injury during the season (they kept reporting his back injury though - that didn't appear too bad though). He was moved forward as it was more difficult to tackle/had more potential to damage it further. When the others came back they sent him off to surgery - that's what I heard anyway. I expect he will return to the backline next year as best 18.

That's my understanding as well, Broughts is one of my fav players would be shocked and dismayed if they were even thinking about trading him. Watters would of coached Broughton at Subiaco so would understand he would be keen like he has been picking up a lot of other WA players and coaches to St Kilda but just because St Kilda would be keen doesn't mean we are looking at trading a contracted best 18 player.

Yep, not much to hang hats on. Seems he is holding cards close to chest - late play if anything during Trade period.

Here's Bondy spinning the spin on ABC radio:

Other bits:
  • Confirms November 14th players are back on deck
  • Club's in no doubt Morabito is on track

He played plenty of defence this season, also started around the half forward line at times, as well as in the guts. He's a utility player and does so effectively, the defence is strong enough for mine at the moment so I'm happy to see Broughton being released to find the ball.

We don't exactly have a surplus of quality lock down small defenders though, and Broughton is the best small defender in the team for mine whilst the midfield is starting to attain a bit of depth. He is a pretty decent midfielder but I think he serves us better down back.

Also glad that with the re-emergence of Walters we won't need him up forward ever again either.

Would be crazy to trade Broughton, the idea is to have as many good players on the list as possible. If he is over his injuries he would be around the mark for best 22. Would be a solid option as the sub, seems the type of player who can come on the field late and be settled straight away. Also can play all over the field so good as a cover player.

It's such a strange rumour too that he'd want to leave, Freo threw him a lifeline when no other team would (rookies are traditionally more loyal), he's pretty much guaranteed a place in a side that looks like being capable of consistent finals series and he's a WA lad to top it off. Freo offering him up as trade bait makes even less sense.

I agree.

BUT

He may have been requested as part of a trade that we want to make. He's very valuable to us though.
