I would say Waite is required in the back half but will swing forward as required next year. Setanta will probably play out at CHF as he did mid-season before he was struck with injuries. Kreuzer and Henderson don't have enough bulk on them to hold down a regular FF post and would get mauled one-on-one. Fish would have to improve rapidly to maintain his place on the list let alone grab a regular spot on the team. Cloke is big-bodied can take a great grab and has an OK set shot so I would put him at FF to crash packs and take grabs and have Henderson leading out of the pocket with Kreuze pinch hitting.

Also there is the possibility of Thornton or Austin floating forward to change things up next year.

Completely the opposite IMO.
We have plenty of players who can play KPDs with a full strength lineup next season which can allow Waite to play further up the ground, and to add to that, with Fevola gone we would not have that much experience down there.
He's played down forward with a fair bit of success and will be our x-factor (give him some time though as he recovers from a knee reconstruction) in a new forward line after Fev.:thumbsu:
But with Fev gone it means we are certainly not as predictable in the front half with some unknowns and an unknown forward structure next year.:)
Would like to see Kreuzer, Waite and Henderson rotate between the key forward posts. O'hAilpin may get an opportunity with Fev gone as well so there's definitely the chance for a number of players to make a position their own next year.:thumbsu:

Hey guys,

sorry to interrupt but I was wondering what you think of picking up Robertson now? You obviously need a forward and Robbo would gve his all for a year or two. He's only 30!!

Or maybe Nathan Brown?

Were gonna have to experiment this year a bit with the foward line structure before we get it right. But i'd like to see

BETTS HENDERSON YARRAN

WIGGINS KRUEZER WALKER

you can rotate gartlett and houlihan in there to, but i like wiggins in the foward line, he hits the packs hard. i just hope his body can hold up

Waite will be a necessity at full forward / chf next year.

He's probably the only guy we can count on to kick 40 goals plus in a season.

Kreuzer should be blooded as a forward also (especially with Warnock, Hampson and Jacobs taking up the ruck stocks)... I really do see him playing a role like Riewoldt in future.

Then there's Henderson also who will play up forward.

Good things to look forward to next year.

Personally wouldn't be against taking Robertson in the PSD. I still think he has plenty to offer a club. He truly loves his footy, is passionate about what he does, works hard and is a great bloke. Would be great influence for the younger boys around the club. Would be a significant upgrade on a Fisher/Wiggins type.

If we dont take Robbo..... he may turn to singing full time :eek::eek:

I think we are doing the country, and indeed the world a favor in taking him

Waite should play FF...snagged 3 goals vs the Pies in a half of footy last year, and 3 goals the week after against Freo in a half as well. Kreuzer and Hendo the other tall spots.

I'm all for taking Robbo or another experienced forward, just to take some heat off the young kids.

He may not play at full forward, but Jarrad Waite is the only player on our list with the size, athleticism, skill, experience and genuine star-quality matchwinner about him to be our focal point up forward in 2010.

Setanta, Kreuze, Henderson and Austin could all potentially make great partners in crime but are yet to prove it on a consistent basis.

Yep, agree completely :thumbsu:

Just wouldn't want Nathan Brown. Think his attitude stinks to be honest. The last thing we want to do is bring guys like him into the club when we've just gotten rid of one of someone with terrible attitude in Fevola

What's Warnoks kicking for goal like? He could be a good replacement for Fev if we develop him?

I am more worried about our defence to be honest. Hence Waite needs to play back. I am really dreading playing the Lions next year. Apparently they have a awesome forward line now.

Waite should play FF. He'll be recovering from a knee injury, being able to lead out straight in front and attack the football will help him to recover and minimise the risk of further injury.

I can't remeber who said it, or in which thread, but someone was saying that the defenders hate playing on Hampson in match practice conditions. I reckon he'd be one that they should try to develop there as well. Everyone talks about Kreuzer, and I reckon he'd do well down there too, but he's better around the ground than Hampson. Hampson on a lead would be verrrrry hard to stop if he could take a grab.

Went for the Blues as a kid as well if I'm not mistaken. That never hurts.

Yep Hampson could be a star FF, anyone remember the nab cup game against Geelong when Hampson was flogging Scarlett on a lead and marking the ball:thumbsu:

Hampson has shown that he can play on the forward line, and would very likely rotate with Kreuzer through the ruck and play down there as well.:thumbsu:
Nothing wrong with it in theory in all honesty.:)
His marking skills have been a problem, but is still very good at ground level for a player of his size.
Not against drafting Robbo in the PSD at all, in fact very much for it.:thumbsu:
In fact, as he has played as an undersized KPF for Melbourne in the past as he can leap and take a big mark, it wouldn't be that bad to place him in a key forward post and play Hendo on a flank and learn off Robbo.:thumbsu:
Can't see him playing in a Carlton premiership side TBH, but his experience for 12-24 months could be very good for Hendo, Kreuzer etc to learn under.:)
