Has anyone noticed the picture of one Tom Young training with the big boys in Melbourne?? I don't think it's a short stay!

Interesting... HE isn't on the list yet, but is he allowed to play with our VFL team?

To be honest, it would seem that another year in the U18's would do him good though.

What is Happening with Sean O'Kennedy?
O'Kennedy won't be rookied this year. The club thought he was too scrawny for him to be looked at at this stage; he'll hit the weights and the protein diet and we'll look at him again next year.

Thanks for the Update I asked because of this here, We though are Risking he could go to another Club.

Has Cribben Signed yet?

My understanding is that Cribbin has signed, much like Carlton were doing going around Ireland with chequebook in hand and $1,000 (or Euro) contracts to be signed... except with much, much more class.

Wonder why the Club has not Announced yet?

Thought I Just Bump this Thread and Also say,

Will Ben Cammerllii be Rookied?
No, Ben Camilleri will not be rookied. We have three boys eligible next year however, in Perry, Young and Witts.

Be Intresting how we fit them in if all 3 Make it.

Hopefully Perry and Witts can make the NSW/ACT u-18 Side for the U-18 Champs.

Why have we overlooked Ben?

Not good enough. Barely touched the ball in his games for NSW/ACT Rams in the U18 Champs. Unfortunate because he seems like a quality person, and a hard worker... not to mention a diehard Pies fan.

As for next year; fitting all three on the rookie list will be easy because all three will fit outside the rookie list for their first season. After that, ie. end-2011, it will get interesting but that's assuming all three are playing well in the VFL. Given that both the 2010 and 2011 drafts will be severely compromised by the GC17/WS18, the likelihood is that there won't be a lot to choose from in the rookie drafts of those years.

We could well be planning on going with the minimum 2 National Draft selections plus a rookie elevation for the next two years, so along with the likely attrition of a couple of rookies who just aren't up to it, we should have space on the rookie list.

Royal, we are bringing Young to Melb next year now to play VFL. He aced the champs playing a wing or wherever he wanted, and ought to be a lay-down cert to go straight onto our senior list the year after.

What is the procedure for that? Eg last 2010 ND spot kept for him ahead of time?

He struck me as becoming a very capable CHB. Other projections? I see in some of the BF debates that Witts is being discussed as a potential tall KPF of the future. Wishful thinking? I'd have thought ruck and hold on rookie list for a bit?

Cheers.

Going By This:

“In committing to Tom’s relocation we are bound by the amended rules to select Tom on either the 2011 Primary or Rookie List. Tom’s destination will be determined by his performances throughout the 2010 season.”

Going By that we can put him on the Senior List or Rookie Him

Thanks TD. Great find. I see the Goddard build and strength but am hoping for something more like mobile KPD eventually. Still, great we'll get to see him in the VFL next year.

Thanks for the info, which has since been confirmed on the club's website. :thumbsu:

The procedure is as you guessed, we simply keep our last pick for him as clubs did this year when promoting rookies. If they're bringing him down to play VFL, I'd have to agree that it seems very likely he'll go straight onto the senior list. He's a talented kid and as was mentioned earlier in the year here on FMW, he won the Sydney AFL Rising Star as well as distinguishing himself with the Rams. At this stage I think Young could be a key defender moreso than a forward, but he's quite versatile and it may simply depend on where the club looks to develop him.

As for Witts, I don't think he projects as a tall KPP so much as a ruckman. He was listed at 202cm as a 17-y-o earlier in the year, and I'd guess when his stats are recorded for the state zone trials next year he might have added another inch. Several NSW-watchers have commented on his athleticism, he could be a mouth-watering prospect at that height if he can move and has skills to match. I really hope he makes the U18 Rams side to play in the National Champs so that he gets some quality opposition and we good a really good look at him. I also think that he'll go on the rookie list initially, as much because he's a longer-term prospect as any other reason. He wouldn't be playing senior footy for quite a while, you wouldn't think.

Yeah if Young is going to play Senior Footy in the VFL - He would go on the Rookie List.

Best of all he looks like a Kid who could put some good Muscle on and Not be a Bean Pole

Will Young play in the U-18 Champs

I think people thought of him as a KPF because Hine said he is like Tippett.

Hope Him with Perry and Hartley can play in the u-18 Champs as it is good Completion and we can watch them here in Victoria:thumbsu:

Nah Dave, we're suggesting that this year he plays for the VFL side whilst still on the NSW scholarship, and then in the 2010 National Draft we select him to go on the senior list. This is only speculation, but in a draft where many of the 17-y-o's have been poached, and the GC17 have 9 of the top 15 selections, we might want to make Tom one of our compulsory ND choices.

Will Young play in the U-18 Champs
I'd say probably, but can't be sure. I'm guessing NSW football would want to remain as competitive as possible in these carnivals.

I think people thought of him as a KPF because Hine said he is like Tippett.
And he does play forward for Sydney Uni much of the time, but I think he projects more as a ruckman than a KPF at AFL level. In truth he'd probably do both, again like Tippett.

Young, Perry and Witts are all eligible as far as I know, but the other boys would have to be selected bottom-aged which is less likely.

With the NSW Scholarships Ending can we still get the Wonder Kid?
My understanding is that we can. He would need to be signed before the end of next year, when the scheme officially closes for business though, and we're not certain to be his preferred club so it's still up in the air.

Okay thanks for Clearing that Up - Hope teams are not Cheating and Offering Money to the Kid;)
