Honestly, for a company whose literal job it is to handle that ticketing process, it is unbelievable that it is such a poor system. Their infrastructure should be juiced up to handle at least 50,000 web requests per second. I suspect their system can only handle a few thousand though.

It’s not really even close to 50k in reality either ….. if 40k are in a queue then they should not be hitting the backend with any level that should impact it and certainly don’t need to hit it each second. And in todays day and age they should be able to scale up infrastructure almost instantaneously to support demand.

Got our tix to the Port game eventually.
Went on today to get tix for my son and his support worker to another game. Got on the site, and it said Cat 1 tix were sold out, but still Cats 2 and 3 available.
Selected both of those categories in turn, but it said not enough tix left to fit your demand!!!
Tried just one ticket for him - same answer.
So I'm guessing the game was a sell out, but Ticketek just hadn't updated their ticket selection page to announce it. Slack as spaghetti noodle.

Bet there'll be a fair few empty seats on game day though  :embarrassedv1:

I tried sending a message online to Ticketek as they recommend about the non-appearing tickets. I have no confirmation that they have received my message. Who knows?

They havent recevied your message. They willreceive it after the purchase window is closed and they dont have to deal with it.

I had the same issue.

But when i tried one ticket for my wife it went through. Then did another one for me and that went through. So we are going to the Port Match but We are two sections away from each other.

Anyone else have a similar thing where they used their code and upgraded to cat 1 for $30 then later on was able to still purchase a free cat 3 reserved seat?

Ticketek crash!

5 of the 9 games are sold out and already sold 20,000 more tickets than last year, total 195,000.

Most of those sold out games will probably have some unused AFL entitlements thrown back into the pool a few days before the relevant games.

4 night pass at AO - using Port barcode
Cat 1 $195
Cat 2 $150
Cat 3, Hill and restricted view $105
Alcohol Free area $150

3 night Pass at AO
Cat 1 $163
Cat 2 $125
Cat 3, Hill and restricted view $88
Alcohol Free area $125

Looks like price is the same for members and non members ie hit ticketing and pricing info button without using the barcode, but that might change tomorrow when General Public get access
Free alcohol area sounds enticing.

THE AFL is pleased to announce that more than 195,000 Gather Round…Festival of Footy tickets have sold, with five of the nine games sold out - 20,000 more than this time last year.

Member on-sale on Tuesday saw a significant uplift in demand for tickets this year, selling more than 100,000 tickets in the first four hours, in comparison to the same amount in 24 hours last year.

This year there are an extra 47,000 tickets on offer for fans with the two Saturday matches being ticketed separately.

Tickets still remain for (Adelaide Oval game)
Collingwood v Sydney Swans on Friday night,
Carlton v West Coast on Saturday afternoon,
Melbourne v Essendon on Saturday night and
a very limited number of restricted view tickets and tickets for the Pepsi Collective for Port Adelaide v Hawthorn on Sunday evening.

Didn’t share my experience but it was a bit shocking trying to buy tickets. Ended up with tickets to all 9 games but it began to look like I’d miss out on the Port game of all things. Should be a great weekend, hope to see some of you guys there!
