List Mgmt. Geelong chases Hamish McIntosh during trade period

You would want to hope so as friday is getting close.

Personally, particularly with Brown possibly wanting out, I'd move on Rivers now and not let any stalling over HMac by North (if there is any) to get in the way. Make KPD priority number 1.

Yes....Rivers is an important acquisition IMO. We should snaffle him ASAP.

Rivers sounds like a done deal. There's no talk of any other club going near him which is surprising considering the issues the Hawks and the expansions clubs have down back.

it's going to sure us up that's for certain.
As good as Scarlett was/will always be, his final season was starkly different to his usual brilliant self and Rivers won't be anywhere near the same player but he may help us stop a few more goals than what Scarlo did in 2012 as his foot speed just seemed to literally drop off after he returned from the 4 week suspension. Plus the amount of games he missed hurt us so Rivers would be a handy replacement.

Gosh' we really will be a premiership threat if Menzel, Varcoe and the big boys can stay healthy and return to 75% near their best, Cats will be flying under the radar in 2013.

I always forget that we have Menz, Vardy and Varcoe to come back. Can anybody say "most potent forward line in the league".
Stevie J. - Vardy - Menz
Chappy - Hawkins - Pods
With like a bazillion others rotating through.

yeh and like you say, Motlop, Smedts, Stokes, Walker, Kersten will all want a goal not to mention McCarthy is a serious talent who will be fit and raring to go 2013 while Burbury may have to bite his tongue yet another year

Could we be cooling on HMac given the new ruck rule? I'm in the camp of believing that we have the perfect setup with West and Vardy to take advantage of limited contact. West has a fantastic leap.

I'm beginning to think we opt out and go for Rivers only (and keep Brown).

what is the deal with mitch brown? who is showing interest and what has been speculated for? a second round pick?

Mitch has approached the club looking for more opportunity or the promise of getting game time. He is currently contracted ( year 1 of 3 yr deal) so the club obviously require him. That said, they will look at any reasonable offer to accomodate his request as the club is good like that.

As far as I know, no club has made concrete offer. Our board seems to expect late 1st or early second for those seeking compensation. The rest want him to stay as a required player.

Im more in the keep than trade camp myself...

Go Catters

If the club reckon Hmac is someone we need then lets get this deal done today and grab Rivers under the free agency period.

Then we can all relax and wait until ND day where we will have 2 picks- 15 and some late draft pick.

15 will secure a good player for us and we can only hope that Wells pulls a beauty with his late pick.

Then we can spend time writing about the rookie pick we have.

The problem with getting Rivers is that we can't then troll Rioli's tattoo on the Bay ...

What we really need is for the club to get Hmac for pick 55 and upgrades of later picks.
That will get rid of the boredom, because then we can sit back and read the North board for a few days.
Fun for the whole family.

Agree with you and PO on this one. With the loss of faith in Gillies and with Brown having a question mark the KPD Scarlett replacement becomes extremely important. Brown needs to understand that even if he is earmarked for that role to expect to play all 22 games with this history is fanciful. I reckon the scenario for him is to share the role with Rivers and up his games tally and impact so he becomes a lock in our best 22. With the support we have shown him through his injuries it's time the pendulum swung back in the Clubs direction.

The Roos appear to be playing hardball with HMac so I would do the Rivers deal tomorrow. Whatever dollars are left becomes what we are able to offer the Roos as the HMac subsidy - they may have to suck this up as the cost of vacillating. Could end up being a no deal.

I am in the camp of not delisting any of our Rucks as I see Vardy as a KPF , not second Ruck. If worst comes to worst we run as we did in 2012 and hope Dawsons form improves and plays 1's for at least 1/2 the season. HMac is a good strategy but there is no guarantee he will work out or play a significant amount of games. I reckon Orren was stiff last season and I would like to see him get half dozen games in succession to see what he can do. He was awesome in the first 1/2 of the Hawks game and could surprise with another preseason and more game time.

Let's get Rivers under FA before the deadline expires tomorrow !!

I'm not sure how the rule changes disadvantage Simpson?? Surely if there is less wrestling, this actually emphasises the height advantage of a 206cm ruckman. Is the thinking that less stoppages means less use for a traditional ruckman? Simpson is not Blakey, he does have a little ability around the ground, though obviously not as much as Vardy, West or McIntosh... I say stick with Simpson.

Good point. It almost makes it like a tip off in basketball. And granted, some shorter guys than Simpson could get the better of him with a superior jump, at 206ish, there's not going to be many of those about.

With speculation surrounding the possible departure of ruckman Hamish McIntosh to Geelong, Daw’s value as a ruck/forward prospect has significantly increased.

Closest thing I could find.
