Not as good as I used to as I’m now over 30 and been playing footy for 25 years.
Still have pace but back when I was younger used to blitz a lot of blokes playing down the wing and out of the middle. Did pretty well in sprinting and endurance events for representative levels.

Have to play a bit more conservative now or calves/hammies won’t hold up. Modelled a lot of my newer style play on Mitch Duncan and Robbie Gray and less like James Kelly or even his doppelgänger Max Holmes

But point still stands, Max wants to RUN and when you have to bounce and you’re going that fast it’s easier to bounce a lot to keep your momentum going and also not get pinged for running to far.
It’s more of a habit thing than anything else. Probably not the best habit as you’re taught to run your length then bounce so you can steady.
You can run? Yeah you are right the tendency to bounce when you are running flat stick is certainly there.

I don't know, maybe if you call a team terrible enough, it sends them to a premiership. At some stage you might admit we're okay.
I am, right here, right now, willing to admit I know nothing about football anymore.

It just feels like you shouldn't be in a prelim while doing a midfield transition.

Like. Am I wrong?

I used to play footy with a dude who modeled his running off Aussie Jones from St Kilda, which was tuck the ball under the arm and sprint the first 10m then take a bounce, but tucking the ball under the arm and taking off lead to him often getting pinged for running too far.

It's all good, I haven't been declaring us premiership favourites either, just reminding not to write us off if we play our best and opposition falter.

In reality we had only had a poor 7 or 8 week period in the middle of the season. We have actually been pretty good otherwise (round 1-7 and 15-now), with just a couple of dodgy halves that stand out. That Dog of a game in the wet against Footscray, then the fade out against St Kilda when we likely tired from the Perth heroics.

Our best this year has been competitive with every single side. The midfield largely solid since Scott rejigged it for the Essendon game (Dangerfield back and in full force has also been crucial).

Inconsistency within games has been the thing tempering my expectations. But in finals you simply need to put it together for 3 games. 1/3 done. Let's see if standards can be upheld. We'll need to kick straighter from set shots, that's for sure.

Can someone remind me our draft picks used for Zuthrie, Mannagh, Humphries, Miers, Stengle and even Holmes... LOL

Rookie, p36, p63, p57, DFA. Future 1st pick 20.

Plus henry close blitz and atkins all as rookies.

Correct, its why Port aren't there and we are ;)

Dixon is a complete statue lets not get carried away. As i said during the week it would help us if they picked dixon.

Max Holmes can run + bounce the ball, from end to end + back again, eleventy seven times every game! Especially if Geelong goals are kicked 😻 😻 😻l

Was Max ever penalised for running too far running over the 15m?
Bit hard to penalise him when he bounces it every 5 meters
