Geelong - have to trade.

Gamble, Stokes, Byrnes and T Varcoe are similar types and wouldn't exactly cripple a side if one or two of them were traded and Geelong do have similar players being developed.

Stokes to West Coast has been one rumour doing the rounds.

Throw in tenace and D Johnson...Maybe even Mooney

Ryan Gamble's the one I could see doing a "Brent Prismall" and leave to find better opportunites.

Reckon he'd be good at a team like Essendon which could use another medium sized goalkicker who's quite good overhead.

Wojcinski's one I would dangle, as I think his best football is behind him and I'd like to see his spot in the 22 go to Simon Hogan, who was pretty unlucky not to be in our final team.

Gillies showed a lot in his 1st season as a key defender, and is being groomed to be Scarlett's replacement at full back, so he's definitely going nowhere.

Wouldn't surprise me if David Johnson retired, and Kane Tenace will definitely be delisted. Lonergan has another year on his contract so he may be safe.

Laidler and Mumford will both be promoted to the senior list.

What would it take to get Gamble from a Brisbane perspective, he seems like a player we could use in our forward line?

Saints second pick for Gamble.

Today showed that we need a Chapman/O'Keefe type who can lead up and take the pressue off Riewoldt. He can also crumb abit which puts pressure on Milne and Schneider (who was good today I thought, diving aside)

the prismall one made a lot of sense - a midfield as good as geelongs was always going to be hard to break into. but imo, the geelong forward line has been a lot more "average" for want of a better term. What prevented Gamble from getting more senior games? His reserves form not good enough? i think there are more questions about him being true AFL standard, whereas prismall always looked likely.

Not a pinch of shit.

Gone missing in two GF's now.
Glad you have that opinion, he did his bit with tackles and great set ups for goals. Poor last year GF, but he is young and improving and good enough to be in the starting 22 in the 2009 PREMIERSHIP TEAM-GO CATS, THE GTOA!

Harley will retire. I would be happy to trade:Blake,Wojinski,Hogan,Varcoe,Djkerra, even Mooney if we could snare Pavlich, which is the rumour.Perhaps you could add Stokes and Gamble to that list.

Your coach has just said you need to trade players for picks to create cap space. Getting Pav is hardly going to help with that.

I must question the mentality of Cats fans who only hours after winning a Premiership are on here discussing who to get rid of.
Whats the problem? The coach said we have to trade so we are just discussing who that could be.What you are saying really doesn't make sense.

He's probably a player who's stagnated over the past year, due to injuries and lack of regular opportunities.

In the pre - season, he looked very good, especially against Adelaide where he played FF, and looked as if he was really going to step up in 2009, but that didn't happen.

He's got an excellent vertical leap, and can also play in the midfield if need be. Probably defensive pressure is the main thing he really needs to work on.

In a lower team where he'd play every game, he could have a Mitch Morton type of impact (in terms of being a guy who could get you 30-35 goals potentially) for a new club.

Geelong will have no interest in gaining Pavlich. We are looking to fix our salary cap problems, not add to them.

I wouldn't mind betting that the names Gamble, Stokes and Lonergan will be thrown up. Gamble is a dud, so any club that wants him can have him. Stokes is a good little player but needs other good players around him, and Lonergan hasn't been up to standard. Players like Tenace and David Johnson are pretty much finished, and doubt any team would want them.

Blake won't be going anywhere as we need three ruckmen (Ottens, Blake + Mumford) due to our ruckmen usually having injuries.

Do those wanting Wojo realise that he will be 30 next year? His pace is not going to get any better, and probably only has 2-3 more years left.

With Harley (likely) retiring, we will free up some cash, plus Scarlett and Milburn are over 30 and therefore I would assume eligible for veteran status.

I don't think our TPP issue is as big as Bomber made it out to be, just a pre-emptive statement to ensure we don't go out of control with salaries, and ensuring we can afford to pay players like Taylor, Selwood and Hawkins properly in future.

Our youngsters like Hogan, Gillies and Mumford won't be going anywhere.

I wouldn't be expecting major changes in our list.

Bomber was suggesting we'll have cap issues depending on retirements/ payer demands
Which I think means one of the following.
1.Thanks for your service boys (Harley, Milburn, Mooney) but we need to move on and turn some boys into men
or 2.If your looking for more game time/money (Blake, Lonergan, Gamble, Hogan, Djerkurra,Tenace, Johnson, West) go! (3 of the 8 will be there next season)
or 3.If your looking for more money we'll make it happen but you'll be splitting up a champion team (Selwood, Ablett)

with two of our highest paid players on half price in scarlett and ottens now on the veterans list, their wont be any issues, and from what i have heard it is only selwood they need to sign up, the rest have all had their contracts dealt with, and he is as loyal a geelong boy as anyone you could meet, if selwood leaves, i will shave myself down below, place an ice block over my member for 2 hours, and then streak down chappel street naked at 1am, no chance in this world he would leave geelong.

Has Ottens been at Geelong 10 years?

I reckon clubs will be hungry for Hogan, Gillies and Mumford. Given they're still getting crap money and not getting any games when they'd do well on another list, those 3 should be the ones getting the most attention. David Johnson is shit so he'll be delisted, likewise for Tenace. Gamble's a chance of leaving too but I don't know if he's promosing enough to attract attention.

as a collingwood fan - i'd check out wojinscki (sp?) because i think we could use the pace. maybe varcoe aswell. hogan.

selwood. ;] i know it'd never happen.
