Geelong rorting the system

How many times does this have to be answered before people hear it?
Big Footy is an eco chamber. I’m sure everyone believes it on the Geelong board but it makes zero sense. Geelong would be the richest club in the land if they make nearly double that of an 80k stadium for home games.

Collingwood don’t even average 80k yet Geelong are raking in the cash like they have 130k attending each week.

Yeah, sounds legit.

It's absolutely true. To quote Brian Cook in a submission to Parliament:

...at Skilled Stadium when you have a capacity of 25,000, we make a net profit in that game of $638,000 per game, which is $26 per head. If we have a crowd of 85,500 at the MCG, which we did have against Collingwood in 2007, we brought home $771,000, which was $9 a head. Importantly, Telstra, now Etihad Stadium, with a near capacity of 46,000, we brought home $293,000, which is $6 a head.

So more money from the G back then, per head means stuff all.

So what did the upgrades cost to go from 25k to 40k and surely the government are now recouping that via the stadium deal. It’s not the same as 15 years ago.

Yeah the club just cooks it’s book and lies to it’s shareholders and breaks the law for shits and giggles

Do you even listen to yourself ?

Presented with evidence and still act ignorant

The football club did or the state government did?
The football club did, the State Government did, the AFL did, the Federal Government did, and the Geelong council did.
No different to every other stadium

If Carlton had of stayed at Princess Park, and lobbied the same entities, they might also have such a ground for themselves, rather than moving you home ground to Marvel and MCG.

I bet you don't believe man walked on the Moon, or that former Prime Minister, Harold, Holt drowned at Cheviot Beach.

Some people are so full of themselves they will not see the wood for the trees!

And who was to blame for that mess? Ian Collins. The most conflicted executive ever to work in the AFL

LOL you have to kidding from seeing the your Fremantle supporter this how it works.
Geelong in Victoria is 1 a satellite city like Newcastle and 2 Geelong is a swinging seat so Labour and Liberals will do anything for that club to get votes at any election.
Plus they are getting a $6 Million scoreboard upgrade and rumours are rife there getting some sort of Netball upgrade apparently promised by Dan Andrews for the Commonwealth Games.
So that’s how it works and to say Geelong is doing illegal stuff in regards to its player payments maybe they are but there not to only club doing it.
So time to move on but being a Fremantle supporter you will be happy down the track when you get another home game thanks to North when north give up a home game in 2026 .

Here was a quote from 2009 by former Cats CEO, Brian Cook,(when GMHBA was known as Skilled Stadium):

...at Skilled Stadium when you have a capacity of 25,000, we make a net profit in that game of $638,000 per game, which is $26 per head. If we have a crowd of 85,500 at the MCG, which we did have against Collingwood in 2007, we brought home $771,000, which was $9 a head. Importantly,Telstra, now Etihad Stadium, with a near capacity of 46,000, we brought home $293,000, which is $6 a head. So when you compare a crowd at Skilled of 25,000 compared to Telstra, which is nearly twice as much at 46, you at Skilled bring home to the club $638,000 out of all revenue sources per game and only $293,000 from Telstra.

So the MCG was more profit then.

BTW the AFL changed the MCG deal during 2009 for 2010 and my guess is it has changed again since then.

And yes the capacity has changed a lot at the Cattery too. But we dont know what the Kardinia Park Trust have changed since then.

What we do know is Docklands was a terrible deal for everyone except Essendon. But that has also changed a lot since then.

If Carlton had stayed at Princes Park and had a 40k limit we would be locking out a huge chunk of our supporters who want to watch the team live.

Years and years ago Ling was commenting on a game and was teased by the other former players about his $1 pub.

Its not new. The AFL doesnt care as long as the media doeant care. And the media are controlled by getting extra Grand Final tickets for behaving.

All that happens is that more clubs do it, making a farce out of the cap.

So this really isnt about Scott. Its about how now all clubs will do it more brazenly.
Lingys $1 pub cost him millions in the end. There was a reason he was able to buy it for a dollar

Not per head. $26 at GMHBA v $9 at MCG. And I'd be confident the rate of profitability per head has increased at GMHBA since the last two stages of the ground development were completed. Improved eating facilities, a two storey merchandise shop, and of course greater capacity.

Also, as for the KP Trust, its role is to "administer, promote and manage the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust Land, with an overarching objective of contributing to the economic, community and liveability benefits to Geelong, that arise from the use of GMHBA Stadium". They're not out there to screw tenants, and certainly not the No.1 tenant who delivers so much to the City. A successful football team = a successful team and region.

I wouldn’t bother the poster obviously needs a picture book to understand basic economics

Well considering we don’t get to play there as often as everyone else for starters, we have no deals with any other governments, we don’t have poker machine revenue and we can’t actually go higher than that 40k crowd figure during our home games I think you’ll find there is still a limit to what we can make as an organisation

Simple question, how many hours a week does Scott have to work for this mob and what is his remuneration?
That is 2 questions, so you can't even stick to your mantra of keeping it simple.

Still laughing at the Morris Finance one. I saw it this morning on social media and just kept scrolling, completely thinking it was just another joke account.

Geelong getting on front foot narrative here.

Read through the "press release" and thought this sounds like padding the coaches salary outside the cap. And they are openly telling everyone.

Bold Strategy Cotton GIF by MOODMAN

End of the day the AFL simply needs to reconcile how much the payment of services is and exactly what services are being provided to justify the salary or contract amount.

Maybe Scott is setting himself up for post coaching and when it is transparently explained it stacks up.

Plus merchandise at the shop. It’s like a Boxing Day sale on game day

Once you own/share in the food and merchandise that’s where you make the money. One of the advantages of having a true home ground. Good luck to them, wish we still had one instead of sterile Docklands. Our deal re every aspect is shite
