Who are you tipping to win the game mate?
Not tipping, but..
Hoping we get another crack at Port in a GF.
I feel more confident this week than I did for the Pies game, but big wins will do that. At least we are not travelling, not injured, not looking at suspended players costing us, but I saw what they did to Richmond- very impressive. We will want to be at our best.
I really think our best is the best in the comp, but just not sure we can do that 3 weeks in a row.

Not with Daniel Rich and Lachie Neale distributing the footy, no.

This would be a tantalising matchup if they get Daniher and we get Cameron next year.
Forward entries? Lachie Neale had 4 billion kicks and one goal assist for the whole year, coming in the second last round.

You must have it in for Rohan. I thought it was his best game for quite some time. He was marking everything. The Hawkins Rohan Dangerfield forward line worked really well.

That’s a bit strong. I have watched it a couple of times and Rohan is definitely putting in but he’s not the wildcard he could be. I’m sort of believer that in finals sometimes there is a player who is previously maligned who pops up. If we get through to the GF, big if as I don’t think we will then it would not surprise me if that person was Rohan with all the pressure off.

Danger unleashed into the fwd line is the ace up the sleeve. No one expected it, no one planned for it, no one saw it coming. It's like flipping over the final card in poker and revealing a royal flush and you've gone all in. Bring it home boys!!
It was very predictable. In fact pre finals I predicted it as my crazy Scotty move for this finals. Danger has spent a large part of the second half of the season as a foward. He just was pretty ordinary at it until the last qtr of the Sydney game.

Agreed it's very predictable but that doesn't make it easy to stop for opposition coaches. Scott doesn't reveal a lot but what he did reveal it seemed they rated Moore's defensive ability highly and saw him as a huge threat in our forward line, Danger was put down there to try and counter the Moore influence and it worked. He also rates Harris Andrews along the same lines, expect Danger to spend most his time forward again. As he said, Fyfe, Dusty and Danger are real tricky players to match up against in a forward line because they bring a different skill set.

Gotta say; I’ve gotten increasingly proficient at rationalising, distracting myself and keeping my mind occupied on other things prior to Big Games over the past decade - until the ball is bounced to commence the match, I tend to expend as little mental energy as possible on Geelong’s fate.
BUT
I can’t help but have thoughts of this Prelim intrude upon my mental bubble.

I failed dismally at this in first week of finals. Succeeded last week but I am slipping this week already.

I was mentally shot to shit in the 2 weeks leading up to the Qualifier. These 2 weeks have been much better. But after watching the Cats live on Saturday night it didn't help one bit.

Interesting to get the impression from people that just because our main 'wildcard' move is a predictable one, that it is somehow less meritorious. As pointed out, it is one thing knowing Dangerfield will go forward. It is another thing to stop it. The only person that has ever really lessened his impact when he is up there, is Dangerfield himself either a) because his kicking lets him down, or b) the players filling his role in the middle can't get the ball forward like he can.

As long as we are breaking even in the middle, any time he goes forward he is at the very least going to create opportunities.

Who else now believes 17 games makes more sense than 22?

I'd prefer a slightly longer 34 game season, keeping the shortened games with higher frequency. Put a hard cap on players not being allowed to play more than a certain number of H&A games each year. Forces teams to use more of their squad, exposes more young talent, the season is fairer, and exposes more young talent to boot. Keep finals the way they are, spaced by a full week.

I really don't see any negatives. It might upset traditionalists but the changes I'm suggesting would actually have less impact on the way the game is played than some of the huge number of rule changes they've brought in over the last 2 decades.

Yeah, and I remember a few things from finals... Like the Brownless goal after siren goal against the Dogs, Mooney's goal in the pocket in the first night flag win against the Crows at Footy Park, Ablett Snr's goal against Martin in NM Prelim at the G, Scarlett's toe poke to Ablett in the centre square in the 09 GF, but this Joel Corey tackle was probably one of the few tackles I actually remember...

Ottens on the wing in 07 anyone?

Every week I've had a huge challenge trying to book somewhere. Most places have a 2 hour sitting time that finishes around half time and any venue I've found that has a time that suits the whole game has been booked out well in advance.
I'm also keen to hear any suggestions

Surely now would be the time to sign up for a 2 week trial of Kayo if you don't already.

I certainly agree. But, as our board's resident realist, this is definitely high praise from you.

Dare to believe...
Can we win a flag without channel 10 doing the game if we were to beat Lions?
That is the question...

no, not really the question.

The fight pre-game 2007 QF, the final siren of 2007 PF, Selwoods back to back clotheslines in the 2009 QF, leaving the 2008 GF and Ottens miss in the 2008 GF, Brown's goal from 75 in the 2010 PF, Ling's goal, the celebration and the moment I realised the ump overturned it in the 2010 QF, Ling goal to seal the 2011 GF, Hill goal in the 2013 QF.

All things I vividly remember. A lot of bad moments in there.

yep
Solid 4 weeks
Maybe rd robin games around the regional areas then knock out stage back in proper venues

6 groups of 3 - top teams go through.

2 groups of 3 - top 2 teams go through.

Semis then Granny (Seeding based on percentage and WL across all previous 4 games)

Knocked out teams go into scratch matches ala current NAB games.

no, not really the question.

I do miss Channel 10's footy coverage. After all, it would hopefully mean no 'BT' on the commentary team, for a start.

Which would enhance my enjoyment of any game immensely, long before you get down to considering the result itself.

Me too. Anthony Hudson was miles beyond the forced BT'n'Bruce "banter".

get to have a good look at entire lists, with reduced spots they need to be able to play if they take up a spot on the list

argh. Anyone got recommendations for supplementary radio commentary? It's been ages since I've listened to the radio with TV on.
KROCK is the obvious choice. :D

But if not, then SEN will probably have Huddo and Whateley....3AW may have Jimmy as expert comments.
