The fact is that from '17 to '20 the Tigers didn't have a problem moving the ball quickly, another fact is that the stand rule was brought in to prompt quicker ball movement.

Another fact is that Hocking said a player manning the mark (being able to move laterally) puts pressure on a Geelong kicker, this pressure Hocking said created a "delay" when Hocking would've preferred Geelong to move the ball quicker in that 2020 GF. Why couldn't Geelong move the ball quicker in that 2020 GF? Because of pressure, that's the answer.

Everyone agrees that Richmond's system was pressure based.

So it stands to reason, that the stand rule was like a pressure release valve, and we all know that the role of the pressure release valve is to control or limit the pressure that can build up in a game of AFL football (particularly in a final between Richmond and Geelong), like it built up in that GF in 2020. You remember well Chris Scott saying Richmond were shitting themselves, but when Richmond ramped up the pressure after HT, well then Geelong shit themselves. So Hocking had finally had enough of waiting for Chris Scott to figure out how to beat Richmond (which Scott claimed he did in 2021 ) so he invented the stand rule which acted as a pressure release valve for the handbaggers.

Now that's no theory, that's exactly how it happened.

We were the second-winningest team between 2017-2020. And in two finals against Richmond we dominated them for a half. If you think a rule was why you beat us, you’re selling your own team and players short.

Our win percentage is almost identical in the four seasons since the stand rule as it was before it. 65 to 64.

I don’t see anyone living off anything. Compared to a supporter base living off the ‘success’ of a good draft hand and finishing last however I would see it as being quite normal.

Knowing that you guys actually believe the stuff you say is perhaps the most hilarious thing to take away from the experience of being a user of this forum. Reading someone brag about being rabid about wanting to kill someone at a football match, reading the gnashing of teeth about alleged corruption within football, reading grown adults wish harm on people, and most of all reading the thoughts of someone old enough to be my father actually believe in the conspiracy theories he espouses: that’s entertainment as far as I’m concerned.

Probably. Either way you seem to forget that there was more than one good team in the afl at the time. One of them managed to deal with it. Actually several have. Port Adelaide have kept making the top four. So have Sydney. So have Brisbane. Another - or more specifically their group of fans - has done nothing but moan about it continuously ever since as though communism was introduced by the government.

Based on the 50000000 threads and usernames you’ve spent telling us that it was Dustin Martin’s attacking brilliance that won those two games, I’d say it was of secondary importance, and one would wonder why such a gameplan that they had relied on for four consecutive seasons slipped their minds for half a game at a time in preliminary and grand finals in back to back seasons.

If my behaviour was of that much of a concern, I’d have needed reprimanding and numerous aliases. Yet here I am.
I’d imagine the fact that I can construct an argument without having to routinely fall back on ‘you’re just salty because…..’ or ‘CFL’ probably has something to do with why some people don’t get chastised and others do.
