If it was Sicily, there would be 900 replays on AFL 360 talking about how the AFL should make a stand. :$
There has never been any doubt in my mind that Geelol (thanks for spelling suggestion Bruce) are a bunch of cheating campaigners, full stop, but sadly they have mates at Head Office, and hence the complicit media rarely seem to draw attention to it.

The AFL has problems. Umpires are inconsistent and players dive to get free kicks.

Rather than fix the problems, the AFL has decided to punish everyone who reacts to the problem (except for those with mates in-house, of course).

The AFL has become Orwellian. Keep feeding people bulldust but hope they won't notice that today's bulldust is contradictory to yesterday's bulldust.

Time to get creative!

So I just need to clarify.

Porkins cheated by taking a massive dive.
Umpire rewarded the dive despite having no legitimate reason to pay a free kick.
Confused Hawk players pointed to the scoreboard.
The Umpires then magnified the injustice by paying a 50.

The AFL has now said that no dissent is allowed.
No comment on the dive. The AFL apparently condones that.
No comment on the Umpires error. The AFL apparently condones that.
Criticism for us for being confused.
So the victims are the bad guys.

Have I missed something?

Yeah, you missed the bit where Hawkins can apparently question an umpire decision with his arms out and NOT get paid a 50.

When he encroached on Sicily in the last quarter, the umpire correctly paid a 50. When Hawkins turned to the umpire and questioned said 50 with his arms out wide the umpire should have paid a second 50 putting Sic on the goal line. Umpire decided not to pay that as umpire dissent though.

Got to say, the Brisbane fitness team are doing an amazing job.

They've been able to get the following players with injury history to play consistent footy

Marcus Adams
Lincoln McCarthy
Nakia Cockatoo
Joe Daniher

And they worked miracles with Grant Birchall

Listen to the words the umpires are using. These decisions are made to get Mondays headlines. It's done on purpose to guarantee we get front and back pages it's feeding the machine. "Arms out" .....it now has its own identity. Don't be fooled by head office. I ain't.

Just when you thought the AFL couldn't make anymore terrible decisions; they decide in their infinite wisdom that selling NFTs is a great idea

Surely they're just messing with us now?

Makes sense to me. It’s the modern version of footy cards and afl branded tazos (remember those!?).

NFTs are great bro, what could go wrong?

At least our players have stopped trying to sell these ridiculous shithouse pieces of “art”.

*they also seem to have deleted them from their Instagram history too.

The weekend just highlights the ridiculous position of the afl appointing the twin brother of an afl coach to lead the umpiring.

It's actually far worse than that. They're all mates from Old Xaverians Football Club, one of Melbourne's wealthiest private schools. The very definition of jobs for the boys.

LOL. WTF. NFI.

Next, AFLX highlights as NFTs.

Can I pay with an IOU?

Players should just turn to each other and say how shit the decision was. Nothing being said is being directed at the umpire that way.
Perhaps if umpires were held accountable for mistakes there might be no need to mention anything at the time at all. Who knows though.

Yep.
Imagine if the AFL said: "Look, we know Hawkins took a dive and that is not acceptable. Hawkins will be fined and the Umpires need to watch out for that sort of staging. But - we still don't want to see demonstrative arguing with the umpires".

If that happened, I for one would accept it. If they are trying to fix their end then it is reasonable to ask the players to pull their heads in.

What the AFL basically said is: "We do not care if Hawkins dived, we do not care if the free kick was wrong, we will back the Cats... I mean we will back the Umpires no matter what. We can screw the players as often as we want and they just have to like it".

When that is their attitude, I find that arrogant. It does more harm than good. Players will be more frustrated than ever.
(Except for Geelong players of course - they are allowed to push in the back, take a dive, or argue with the ump. No problems for them, but for all the players who are not protected by the AFL, this becomes a real problem).

Instead of fixing the problem, the AFL wants to punish anyone who mentions the problem. That does NOT fix the problem.

Telling the players and even the media "Don't mention the war!" does not stop the war from being real.

Tom Green wouldn’t look too shabby in the brown & gold.
