was out in the backyard with my daughter having a ball and the radio on in the background. She asked whats that noise? I told her it was the Tiges fans singing their song. We need a bit of that spirit ASAP!

Half of us, should I say them, are lined up waiting to stick a knife into either the club because they cannot deal with the unpredictability of sport and their own expectations. ..

Everything is better when you're winning ;)

Seriously, what does it say about us if Coll can beat the same team we got smashed by last week with an injury depleted team? It really does show the shit football and form we are playing with at the moment, and players need to get their bloody act together. You can only go so far with effort, which haven't been putting in of late.

Watching footy flashbacks on channel seven and there playing the game that made me a blues supporter.
ironically i was a north supporter and the next week they pumped us in the final.
I wouldnt have it any other way though.... oh unless carlton won the granny then i'd have it that way:p

never gets old. he so thought he was home hahahaha. The best part was none of us really gave a crap about the flag that year because no one - not even us - gave us a chance lol

I've often remarked to people just how stark the difference was between sitting there in '93 and then again in '99. Was shattered beyond all belief in '93.

I'm not gonna say we didn't care in '99, but it was just so odd to sit there, watching the lads get a lesson in a Grand Final, but without the same oppressive sense of disappointment that I'd felt the previous time. I think the carefree way we all approached the '99 GF is proof of how significant the win was the week before...we didn't even give ourselves a chance. Except for Kouta; did what he wanted and dragged the club along for the ride. :thumbsu:

I think the commentator at the every end sums it all up "..and Carlton - CARLTON - are into the grand final..".

We lost more games than we won coming into the finals series and werent expected to do anything. We all knew that we'd had our grand final against essendon, and we were like woo grand final. and then we were like well is its no surprise when we lost. the feeling was we were on borrowed time the whole finals series.

^^

:thumbsu::D:thumbsu:

What we wouldn't give for a bit of Matty Hogg right about now...
Enjoyed watching some of the unconditional attack on the ball and the man with the ball by the likes of Hamill, Rice, Kouta, Mackay, Brown, Hogg etc.

Not only hard and tough all day but made a contribution with their skills and ability also, big goals, great marks and good disposal under intense pressure.:thumbsu:

The last 2 goals by Hamill and Whitnall were set up by great run and carry followed by good disposal from Matthew Hogg who had a huge job on Bewick but was able to hurt him the other way also. :thumbsu:

Have my doubts that Curnow, Ellard, Joseph, Russell or Armfield etc, have been given the license to do this or just dont have the belief or skills to really hurt the opposition.

Very well said.

I also have doubts about that capacity in some of today's group, but I suppose we have to just remember that Hoggy was 30 in the '99 prelim, Rice 31, the Dog was 29. They each had a whole footy career of being a dogged prick behind them; if they're good enough to stay on the list, it will come for our current boys.

Norf doing what Norf do best, beating up on a shit team. Petrie must be theming of getting soft goals over the back

I was out that day and only got to listen to the last ten minutes on the radio. My memory isn't great nowadays but all I can remember from back then was Eddie McGuire screaming "Carlton are gonna win by a point! .. Carlton are gonna win by a point!" over and over.

Good times.

I too, like most others, wasn't too disappointed or surprised by what happened the next week.

AFL websites Match Centre has Bower and Lucas listed as emergencies and Watson as sub with 4 players still named on the bench:eek::eek:

What is going on there, this site is a mess!!

For an organisation with as much clout and coin as the AFL, their website is absolute shite. Has been poo for years and continues to be so.
