Don't get it. He'd have enough money?
Unless some underground connections over there from his past, putting pressure on? Drug or gambling debts?

You would be surprised how much players can quickly waste away all their earnings they have made in footy (Ben Cousins, Brendan Fevola, Chris Yarran etc) especially if they have been dealing with serious addictions like gambling and or drug/alcohol etc)

Feel really sad for Pickett's family and young kids.

Sicily not being available helps our cause a tiny bit.
Not sure the penalty is warranted to be fair but it's one less headache our forwards have to worry about
It helps but the decision is absurd - it is totally based on the result of the incident and the refusal to accept that s%^t happens. They are going to change the very nature of the game.

Already have.

Buckley pointed out that Ziebell avoided a front on contest on the weekend - Jack has limits as a footballer but toughness/his attack on the footy has never been one of them.

Then there was Sam Landsberger saying that several teams didn't even bother showing the AFL's updated video on the subject in recent weeks - they all figured it was a lottery anyway.

I'm pretty much done with AFL now.
They have officially ruined the game.
Will still follow my beloved Blues, but i now have zero interest in the future of the game.
Thank god the Golf and Cricket start this weekend.

Do you have a local country or ammos team. Head down there and watch some local footy.

How many times has Pucowski been concussed playing cricket?
Hughes lost his life to short pitched bowling.
Are the bowlers ever held accountable???? NO
The players are aware of the potential risks.

I don't understand why the AFL is such an outlier.

Local footy has been ruined as well down my neck of the woods.
Paying ex Afl players who take the spots of local kids has come home to roost and now my local club is paying the price...can't field an U/18's side, and 50 yr old blokes playing reserves.

Down on the Peninsula mate.
Problem is over the last 10 odd years my local club has recruited all these ex AFL players who have no allegiance to the community and as a result all the young local guys have quit footy as they can’t get a game ahead of them. A whole generation of good local footballers has been lost, and whilst the club won multiple flags, they’re now in strife as they’ve pissed so many good young footballers off.

I understand that and don’t blame the young fellas. Ours is a bit different here there’s only a couple of ex afl guys and they’re massive on culture of the club and getting the younger blokes thru.

Could the AFL not pit more money in to a post retirement pension fund for players suffering the effects of playing, rather than going down the current path of suspending players every week for tackles that don’t hurt anyone?
