Here is David King's All Australian Team, with surprisingly three Hawthorn players selected.

You know, Kingy is a bit of a whipping boy around these parts, but this is probably one of the better All Australian sides I've seen. I'm not sure the positioning of Moore is right and I'm iffy on Sheezel as a HFF given that he's only played there for about half the season but otherwise I like it.

It actually reads like a team that I could imagine playing really good footy. With Sinclair and Sicily he's got two ball using defenders who can actually play defensively accountable footy, he's got two wings, he's got a good balance of pressure and attack up forward. Hard to find issues.

Moore is a hard lock by any measure.

Massimo should definitely be in it if they're picking a team like last year with the best performing wingers and not trying to squeeze in a centre square mid who wasn't good enough to win their actual position.

Sicily is an interesting one. To my eye he hasn't been as good or as consistent as his last 2 years. But I believe he's rated the #1 key defender by Champion Data. He's still performed incredibly given his shoulder injury and maybe his leadership of a young side into finals from 0-5 while injured gets him in so they can give him the C or VC. Deserves it after being snubbed in 2022.

Sic hasn't been as good this year, reminds me a bit of when they gave Gibbo a token AA in 2015 despite arguably having 3 or 4 better seasons.

I think what is helping Sic this year is that he's playing more of a third tall and an attacking role, so instead of competing with the likes of Andrews he's more of an individual standout. I reckon come selection time he probably won't be there without a phenomenal final 2 games, can imagine they'll go for running defenders with zero accountability and his spot will be taken by Bailey Dale or similar.

Dodoro and Sheedy departing the Bombers. I really hate when good things happen to that club.

Moore is a lock.

Sic will/should get a square up for the travesty that was 2022.

Massimo is 50/50 at best as they usually only pick one specialist winger which will be Gulden.

No Essendon fan-boi on the Committee will push for Mass as it would make their disgraceful club look more disgraceful.

I agree Sicily will get in there as well acknowledged he is playing injured and putting in some inspired performances.

If Sicily is to be named in the AA team then I'm going to cut Simon Crawshay 's lunch and suggest that Scrimshaw should be in the AA squad of 40. They've had very similar outputs this year and personally I think Scrimshaw has been more consistent.

Soccer has always had higher participation rates than the contact sport codes. I played soccer as a kid through to my teens but would always be talking about other sports as would most of the people I played with. Never underestimate the power of cautious parents.

If Soccer was the number one sport in Australia we would be so good at it.

Who has had a better year Sicily or Scrimshaw?

Bit flat about Dodoro and Sheedy moving on.

Holding out hope that Robbo can put together a ticket with James Hird, his demented old man, Tim and Jobe Watson to stage a coup

Same. It’s a sad day. You have to think this happening 24 hours after Sheedy leaving is no coincidence.

Part of me thinks he isn’t actually gone and it’s just some sort of bluff again so I’ll believe it when he doesn’t walk in the doors for a good year.

Just on intuition I feel Sicily has had more games where he's been in the top 5 performers on the ground, whereas Scrim has been more consistent in being among the top 10.

Looking at the Coaches Association votes would seem to support that as Sicily is well ahead on that measure where votes generally only get awarded to those in the top 5 or so and tend to be more midfielder focused.

Scrim also sometimes having to play more defensive so Sicily can be attacking tips the scales.

I don't expect Scrim would actually get named in the squad. I just think he's had an awesome year that has enabled guys like Sicily and Amon to light it up for us.

I do expect he'll be recognised strongly in the PCM.

I try and moderate my Scrimmers praise these days but you are 💯 percent on the money with that call Senor Cryptor 👌

Hopefully his match-winning forward cameos help get him over the line
