Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

I'd like to see Carlton make a play for a versatile KPP (namely a CHB) such as Hanse or Trengove .... of course both of these players would cost way too much.
You've got to bite the bullet and give up one of your better mids.

That's how trades work (not here on BF though :(). To get big you give big. The blues know that as much as anyone.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

What would it take to get Brent Renouf over from the Hawks?

According to a few Hawthorn posters: Bailey, that bloke starting with an L who's name escapes me(Lowden??), Hale and now Roughead have all overtaken him as rucks. PJ obviously an exception.

Matthew Warnock and our 2nd round pick for him and Hawthorn's 3rd? (Presuming we finish towards the bottom and them the top)

I doubt the Hawks would be wanting to trade any ruckmen out, but with the offer of a KPD, they'd be extremely tempted.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

North don't need to look for KPF's, they have a team that should be on the top of the table in 5 years when all the players hit their mid 20's. They need experienced players who can teach them quality skills such as Brent Harvey, Michael Firritto, Daniel Pratt, Drew Petrie and even the likes of Todd Goldstein and Andrew Swallow(24 tomorrow). Players who lack the highest skills and aren't willing to learn need to go like Brady Rawlings, Robbie Tarrant and Lockie Hansen.

Trades they need to look for are running half back and Key position backmen.
Robbie Tarrant + round 3 draft pick for Grant Birchall or Sam Gilbert

Try for a round 3 pick with Brady Rawlings

Lockie Hansen for one of the Brown twins or a young gun like Ben Reid or Heath Grundy or Andrej Everitt to help out Scotty Thompson after Firrito and Pratt go

I think that player is called Waite. Stick Waite down back, use players like Bower and Jamison, then put Henderson at CHF/FF and hope one of your ruckmen like Kreuzer can cycle forward. Seems to me that Carlton don't actually have many structural problems, just need more time to gel. I predicted they would be at the top quarter of the ladder early this year, they're a good side, and it wouldn't surprise me for Carlton to make a grand final in the next few years.

I know it's been said before but the op is hilarious, Richmond would do that deal in a fraction of a heartbeat, and would mean that Richmond would bend Adelaide over twice in two years. Young KPP who can play ruck AND a handy small defender? McKernan is good enough, Symes to boot? Hells yeah. It's almost exactly what we need, and gets rid of one of our worst kicks and an outside flaky midfielder (we have many of these, many of which aren't that good. Edwards is one of them). It's a kind of trade I'd expect a braindead tiger fan to suggest only to be shot down by crows fans telling them that they overrate tiger players. For it to come from a crows fan is mindboggling.

Two things I'd like:

Richmond to trade fringe players for picks. Players like Thursfield, Morton, Tuck, White, Hislop should be shopped around. Sure, they may not get much, but there's no harm asking. Some fool may offer over odds. See Brisbane.

Richmond to trade a second round pick and or said players for a key back and or ruckman. This is without doubt the areas Richmond are weak in. I'm not sure who would be a good target here and it depends about contracts and whatnot. If however Richmond was able to say trade for Clark (not sure what we'd have to give, might be too much) it would be good IMO.

No to getting rid of Tarrant and Hansen
We don't really need KPD in my opinion
No to Birchall aswell
Clubs wouldn't go near Rawlings (should retire at the end of thie year anyways)

However, yes we need skilled players.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

I'd be interested in any of these players -

Aaryn Siposs, Danyle Pearce, Alipate Carlile, Jackson Trangove, Leyroy Jetta, Aaron Cornelius, Mitch Brown, Nathan Brown, Nathan Grima.

Wishlist: Chris Knights, Daniel Merritt

Trade bait -

Clinton Young, Rick Ladson, Xavier Ellis, Brent Renouf, Jarryd Morton, Brendan Whitecross.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

Still very early on and I doubt he'd become available, but I would love to see us have a go at Brian Lake.

Sure, we'd taking him on reputation alone, but given that our main focus is obtaining a key defender, you cannot go past the duel All-Australian.

As far as a fair swap goes, let's put it in perspective. He's an A grade defender on his day, but has been close to irrelevant this season and will be 30 next year.

I'd say a 1st round draft pick would be a pretty generous offer.

The Bulldogs would seriously have to consider that. In a compromised draft it's either that or a second and a fringe player I would think. Good deal for both sides. The Bulldogs need to rebuild around their young guns coming through. It'll mean a lean couple of years at the kennel but it's a better alternative than what else could be on the table for them.

Can't speak to the others, but with respect to Leroy Jetta we would tell you to take a hike. He's becoming one of our most dangerous players when the balls in his hands, just needs to up his engine and number of possessions. To get him he'd have to want out and then we would want a pretty nice offer.

Both Tarrant and Hansen have proven to be duds and atleast for now being young high round picks would be considered highly by other clubs.

May aswell try to get something for him, he could go to GWS as a senior player to bring up the youngsters.

Birchall is the kind of player North need someone to run and break the forward press with a thumping left foot.

North would not even think about trading Grima, last year he missed 4 games all of which we lost. Very very important to the side.

Would definitely look at Young, kicking skills are needed and is in the right age bracket (20-25).

So you have assessed they are duds (presumably with little hope of redemption) and yet think other clubs would value them highly based on their original draft position?

I don't think AFL clubs are quite so ignorant / gullible.

Anyone interested in McIntosh?

Chris Knights is contracted and won't be going any where.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

McIntosh would make a fair bit of sense for Collingwood IMHO, or even St Kilda. Dunno if Jolly's getting back and I don't think Wood's getting anywhere. I quite like McIntosh. If he got back to senior football he'd be worth a fair bit but does miss a lot of football.

I guess that's his only real knock. Had operations on both achillies over the preseason and apparently running without pain for the first time in years. 26 years, 99 games, can play forward too.

Re: Trades youd like to see your team make

He's a good player, and would lead the ruck at about half the clubs. His body type just reminds me of Mick Gardiner - both build & fragility.
I wouldn't necessarily say he is fragile. 1 badly broken ankle, 1 pcl, 1 AC joint, and achillies issues due to the ankle is probably par for the course for a guy in his 9th year in a bash and crash position. Indeed his breakdown of games per year looks pretty consistent.

2005 - 1 game
2006 - 17 games
2007 - 25 games
2008 - 14 games
2009 - 22 games
2010 - 20 games

Saints and Pies look like they could be options, maybe Richmond.

What would he cost?
Would be a very handy pickup for a lot of clubs out there, however, I get the feeling the Roos would want a pick between 5-15 + a player... And I don't think many clubs would be willing to part with that for a risk like McIntosh, especially since he's latest injury worries. I think he is a bit old for the Tigs but if you wanted to let go of Goldstein, then we could talk??;)

Ha! Get in line mate.

Dunno what we'd look for, but I would be pretty happy with a 5-15 on it's own to be honest. A sweetener would be nice, but probably unrealistic. As stated before, the operations that he has had have been to clear up an issue he has carried for years, so if anything the work should help him further, not hinder him. In a recent interview he said he now wakes up for the first time in years without achillies pain and can go straight out for a run without needing significant warm up time. Will be 27 in 2012 so probably has 4-5 good years left.

Hmm, good to hear he is recovering nicely. I hope he manages to get back to his best (AA Form).. Probably a bit too old for the Tigers IMO, we should be looking for someone around the 23-26 age, so that we can get a good 7-8 years out of them.
Do you think any offers for Goldstein will be listened to by the club?
Say we offered our 1st rounder (~Pick 13-16) + a player that fills a void in the Roos list? What type of player are you looking at in return?

Think you're stretching a bit there. Couple of years ago that would've been a steal, but not for a guy who hasn't been on the park all year. GWS might consider it, but that's just because they have picks to burn (not sure what his contract situation is).
