Would be a fantastic get if we can afford it, I guess Taylor would have to retire and with the hope that the money isn’t eaten up too much by the new contracts.
Stanley - out (400)
Black - out (250?)
Murda - out (300?)
Taylor - ?? (650?)

Not including all the minimum deals like House, Abbott and Crameri etc.

Has Kelly actually said something to suggest he might want to go back to Perth, or is it all just speculation?

No but I think it’s reasonbly possible that at some point he will be tempted to return due to family reasons. Would love a good 3-4 years and possibly a flag out of him if it comes to that later on.

Heard the same thing about Taylor last year I’d be very surprised if he retired after signing a contract earlier in the year. You’d think his contract for next year is not as high as the last couple. Certainly some cash could be saved from delisting some fringe players. Be we need to be careful not to loose to much depth.

Depends how bad his plantar fasciitis is to be honest.

I don't want him to retire and we are a better team with him in it but if he only plays a handful of games, he might.

Harry is an intelligent guy, I'm sure that he has opportunities outside of football.

Back running now apparently you’d think still a month away. Players are very reluctant to retire these days they usually need to be told or they can’t physically play anymore.

With the money on offer these days, it makes sense that players would want to be a part of the system as long as possible.

Guys like Lingy, Swanny or Juddy tend to retire young due to opportunities off the field.

Harry has plenty of good footy left in him but may wish to exit with his health.

I hope he stays on, the whole point was that he's on a fair salary and once he's gone we have the added flexibility to make a few big moves.

2017 draft looks pretty strong IMO... Some good players came out of that draft, and supposedly it was shallow.
I've always maintained that it would be a strong draft.

Some very, very good prospects went late.

The depth of it is unreal and the high end talent is looking exceptional.

Teams that selected well will have set themselves up for the next decade.

I wasn't thinking of those guys my three were Thurlow GHS and Murdoch remember all three signed their current contracts in 2015 when they were best 22 players they would be on a solid 350-450k range like Caddy was I'd say so that frees a lot (replace those three with draftees on min wage and you've freed up about 800k probably). All three are decent but with our kids develoiping we can afford to lose them and cover them. Black will go but I agree if NM are paying most of his salary he doesn't free up heaps and the same with the other guys you mentioned including McCarthy and Gregson.

I am not fussed about moving Smith or Stanley we have Abbott and it's easy to get mature age state league rucks cheap in the draft we can easily move Stanley on and rookie list a mature backup.

Guthrie I agree is the one who could get a decent pick I disagree on compo the compo system favours those who are young if someone offers him a decent contract we would probably get end rnd 1 compo or round 2 compo (similar to Motlop). But there are two issues one we want to keep him to keep Zach (who I think will be an A grader once he develops physically) and secondly if we let Guthrie go it means we can't bring in another FA without losing the compo pick, so I would re-sign Guthrie. Blicavs is the other OOC one who would get us a decent pick but we need to hang onto him as he is durable and most of our talls aren't. TBH there's not much incentive for us to trade for high-ish picks this year as if we trade guys for say 20-35 picks we might just have to use them on bid matching anyway, unless we can get a really high top 15 pick (unlikely) we are better off to just keep most of our guys except the fringe, bring in FA's and hit the draft and take the F/S kids.
Ok Pure.. in your eyes name the players in your eyes that won't be on our list next year. Understand if you don't want to

Agree...
Turbocat. Name who you think will be the name to be delisted.. lol I'm to afraid myself
delisted? .. That will depend on how many spots we need to clear.. that comes after trades in and out. The trades out may depend on fringe players seeing how secure their spot is. So.. its a bit early for that. lets see who misses selection when all are fit.. or misses finals. Lang was getting games but he sort of knew Ablett was coming. My guess is we have a lot of small FP/mids.. so thats one role I think could see someone go.. so Gregson , GHS , Thurlow are OOC and would probably look around.

I think this year could be the hardest for a while on who will not be on our list. Bit sad really

I doubt any of those three are being paid more than 300k a year

Yeah that would be fair .. Players that have come here from other clubs would be on more.. Replacing them with draftees probably would get us 450-500. Bit short of what we need for Gaff id guess.

These kinds of moves aren't made in isolation, other players on our list would get moved into that wage tier. Players drafted from the 2016 draft will moved off their initial wage. Stewart, Parfitt and (to a lesser extent) Sav getting decent pay rises. Cuncio would be on peanuts at the moment.

Yes understand that ... all is supposition.. we have no idea on how much was front or rear for eg. Stewart has just signed for an extra year.. I think he is happy to see off a couple of higher paid player...so Stewart and Parfit are 2019 now. Sav too
