WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

Nice business to get #27.

Any chance Oliver Henry is still available or is he certain to be gone before then?

No chance, but we do have the ability to trade up now, which could be what we're looking to do with some of these futures.

Have thought all along we're gonna try and get Olly, as the Falcons coach raves about him and he's likely to end up back here anyway. Think Essendon's Future 2nd gets packaged up on the night with this Pick 27, and we move into the first round if he's still available at Pick 13-18ish

Loving the bitching on Twitter after that trade went down - peeps not happy

Which pisses me off because GC wont even use it, its called a trade relationship, people just dont like to see a well run organization continue to be well run

I'm not sure i see p27 this year versus p55ish next year as that clear an upgrade. They're both going sit around the same point in terms of clarity in draft potential and taking a draftee a year earlier for us isn't going to help us develop the kid much when they aren't likely to get seniors matches anyway. It's pretty much a wash. Helps them a much as us

Trade pick 20 this year for 2 seconds next year then trade pick ~40 next year for pick 27 this year, chefs kiss.
Wellsy really is a maestro

Nah he will go possibly as early as essendon and if they dont take him he will go in 10-20 imo..we would need to trade up further to get him or bruhn. That said i think there will be some good value at 27 so i like the trade.

The biggest opportunities will be with clubs matching bids but I doubt any pick in the top 20 comes into play here. More like offloading one in the 20s for 51 + future second (tied to Geelong) or 30s for 51+future third (tied to Melbourne). Our future first will have to come into play to get into the teens and I don't think we'll pay that. I reckon our strategy will be around preparing to go hard for someone falling into the 20s who we like but otherwise only making small moves (if at all).
27 ends up in the 30s I guess so I wasn't far off but clearly a slightly better deal than I'd imagined. We haven't given up on this draft at all, getting this done ahead of draft night signals wanting to move up further imo

So our trade period now becomes:

OUT: 13, 15, 20, Future 4th (Pick 70ish), Cocky, Fogarty

IN: J Cameron, S Higgins, I. Smith, Pick 27, Future 2nd (Essendon) - Pick 22-26ish, Future 2nd (GWS) - Pick 24-28ish

3 mid 20's picks, 2 ready to go gun players and 1 superstar key forward

for

3 mid-late firsts, 2 fringe players and 1 Future 4th

Surely no-one can complain now?

Such Wells. Much trading. Wow.

GC were always going to want to trade this pick before draft..as they didnt want to use it
