"The 24-year-old is working through which clubs are most interested in him as a player, rather than the teams who are more interested in the pick No.7, which the Suns have attached to the deal for the club to take on the heavily back-ended next two years of his contract."

We have been into him as a player for a while. He is a quality person as well so a good fit

Killjoy!

Was enjoying Shadow with catempire on the ropes. But...

It will be us or Hawks. I can't see him going to Bombers or North.

We might have a slight edge over the Hawks as a wild guess, mainly because he has been living in regional/smaller coastal cities. But take my rationale as a grain of salt, just a guess.

I don't think that phases most Pies fans. He apparently wouldn't risk not signing with Collingwood as he'd likely end up at Norf.

Almost a growing attitude that a trade won't be struck and he'll magically re-sign or send him to the PSD.
Of what benefit is it to Collingwood not taking pick 18?

Given so many clubs are now interested in Bowes with the Gold Coast offering pick 7 as a enticement, then I reckon Dangerfield might be the key to whether we get Bowes or not. Danger has stated he likes Bowes as a footballer, a bit like Mitch Duncan and has taken a interest in Bowes for quiet sometime and has apparently spoken to him and said as much. If Bowes entertains and likes the idea of playing alongside Danger, knowing it could fast-forward his long-term development then we might be half a chance.

Jon Ralph comments on AFL Trading Day this evening with Fox Footy (Monday 3rd Oct)

Re: Bowes.... “Andrew Mackie said today not only is Paddy Dangerfield desperately keen to have him, Gay Ablett Jnr he said is a huge wrap for him, he talked about his upside, um so if you Dangerfield and you’ve also got Gary Ablett and Geelong the 'reigning premier' asking for you, it would be pretty hard to knock that back.”

Given my earlier post re: Bowes & Dangerfield (see above) I'd just like to pass on from what I'd previously written that Gary Ablett Jnr as stated by Jon Ralph is also very keen to see Bowes down at the Cattery and given that the master was a Gold Coast captain & legend, perhaps we might be a better real live chance than we may already appear to be.

Real Footy (AFL) - Gold Coast Suns midfielder Jack Bowes will tour Essendon, Hawthorn and Geelong on Tuesday and then make a call on where he wants to play in 2023.

My two cents.

  • Bruhn will be next year's F1 - GWS don't need anything more this year and I think would prefer to spread it out otherwise they hit cap trouble yet again with this crop.
  • Henry for this year's F1 - probably with a pick swap in the F3s
  • I reckon we will bundle picks and perhaps try to get either a F2 next year (F1 if lucky) perhaps from Brisbane to offset their potential deficit next year and
  • Bowes to the Cats with 7 and next year's F2 back (still having an F2 for next year via Brisbane).
  • We keep pick 7 for best available and possibly our F2 (depending in bundled options) and whatever late pick down the list (Simpson on the rookie list).

What's Ollie Henry worth in your eyes? Do you think he gets traded?

Pies fans are a mixed bag and a bit bullish given the Bruhn trade that will also require a first rounder.

Most of the Collingwood contributors on the massive Trade and FA thread believe that if an adequate trade isn't found, Henry will either re-sign for on a one year deal OR the club will walk him off to the PSD and he'll end up at Norf.
This is classic Bigfooty talk.
The only club this hurts is Collingwood.

Can’t think of an example of an OOC player requesting a trade then re-signing. Just talk from Wright I think.
Bowes has not nominated Geelong or anyone yet... sometime in the next couple of days

Sound like Sav is going to stay. My guess geelongh must have assure him he would get games asa. defender.

any interest in any kid in the draft is still only speculation. We do not even know if we keep 7/8. if we get it.
I can’t see how they guarantee him games as a defender. Who does he push out? Anyone watch enough VFL to get a read on how he went as a defender. I love Esava’s effort and his ability to split packs but his football is not instinctive. Which will always hold him back. He is a role player with a bit of X factor. That early leg injury probably cost him reaching his full potential.

PS - Bowes is apparently seeing North tomorrow then will make decision later Tuesday or Wednesday.
If he does come to Geelong, recommendations by Ablett and Dangerfield are a big load to carry.

Someone mentioned earlier on here that O Henry is slow off the mark, and has poor agility. I can't find the comment now, but it was back quite a few pages.

He has good agility imho, and a very high skill level both at marking and by hand and by foot. He seems to play a bit like a Jack Gunston, but better skills.

He won't bring manic pressure like Rohan does, but perhaps under the right system his defensive efforts could improve.

Agility is not an issue, he can sidestep through traffic pretty good actually, and he can put boot to ball in tight spaces.

Only his defensive pressure is his weakness, and I think that can be solved under the right system.

I reckon you're wrong. He certainly played and coached at Nth Shore.
Bob Davis once said on the TV - and he was 1000% serious when he said it - and that was - that Gordon Hynes should have been a better player than Bill Goggin

Hynes had alot going for him - strong - athletic and a lovely drop kick on the run

Really VFL speaking - he was a bit of a wasted talent - Davis did say he got reported i think for kicking and got a lengthy suspension and that wrecked his confidence

If Tom DeKonning wanted to us next year, will be out of contract... What would TDK be worth in a trade sense would people think 🤔
If he's struggling to get a game, then a late 2nd rounder or 3rd round pick. If he becomes a regular, then probably an early 2nd rounder or very late first rounder. Currently, he's not a first round pick, and I think if Carlton has a good run with injuries, he might not even be first 22 there.

Listening to Dodoro saying Bowes was a 'high priority' makes me really want to get him.
Yeah i hate that bloke myself lol

He should go to PSD and tell any club will only play for 1 year then off to Geelong, and pies get nothing

different day back then as you would know if you were looking for Gordon the Oriental hotel would have been a good starting point.
