This is one of them, if you go through the posters history you'll find a few other things. List Mgmt. - Contract and Trade Discussion - 2022 Off Season Edition

Thanks mate. Definitely interesting reading going through his posts, but it does sound like he's still not sure himself...so I would say it's basically between Clark and Buss as it stands. If one is gone we'll take the other, but if both are there then that'll be really really interesting to see what we do.

Selwood's words about Busslinger had me thinking that we might be set to take him.

Just seemed like he had been told something, otherwise, I would be surprised he said what he said about him.
Busslinger is ranked WA’s #1 prospect in the years crop by quite a few pundits over here.
Seems to be a fantastic long term partner for SDK in defence- great skills , strong aerial game , good decision maker and an ability to find time and space.

We have a large group of young Mids

Where as we only have 1 young KPD
Don’t think we will take Clark regardless

Brown leg was in a game after drafting i thought.

Menzel ACL's was post drafting as I recall it.

Same with Motlop shoulder.

Cocky was an ankle injury but we all remembe that preseason crows game.... damn that was a brilliant 15 seconds.

Ans if youve been living under a rick since 2012 or so...

I mean this one.

GO CAtters

I was at that game and I remember being very excited about cockatoo and Mitch Clark. Unfortunately neither did as much at the cats as I was hoping.

There was certainly a risk with drafting cockatoo not injury but his game was risky to translate to afl.
We’ve seen the way that geelong have found a role for Rohan. With low stats but high impact, I think cockatoo could be used in a similar way.

Picking Clark makes sense, it seems almost too perfect. Selwood retires we get pick 7 and pick and midfielder with similar attributes.
We do need to pick a key defender as well so it depends who’s available late or as a rookie if we don’t go for Busslinger early.
Obviously Clohsey is a bit more of a speculative pick hence why he should be available later. But he would still add a good developing player to our list. And if we do go tall early he’ll compliment that.

We'll have pick 18 next year (😉) so why not pick a kpd option then? Best available with p7
Y not just take the best KPD when he falls into our laps..??
Instead of the the 5th best mid one could ask.
Would we pass on Aaron Cadman in the same scenario?? I think not.
Pick 18 next year can go on a smokey with upside.

Because why not take the gun mid? Instead of reaching just for a need.

These are these are the decisions I'm glad wellsey is making rather than us plebs

You can't replace Joel Selwood i'm afraid. Those looking are gonna be disappointed.
I remember Cooper Stephens being was once touted as a high character plenty of upside special kinda local Falcon mid.

The GUN mid is going to Brisbane... with the one closest (Wardlaw) to him is going to North. Then there is daylight.
Gun Key Defender is sitting there for us at 7... not the 2nd best, 3rd best nor the 4th best. But the No. 1 ranked Key defender.
Drafting is a need/want tug of war. Always has been. Ohh and taking Buzz isn't reaching by the way.
Thats my 2 bobs worth. I can't see the sense in passing the No.1 ranked positional player when they are gifted to us. Doesn't happen very often.
Whatever MackWells do is fine by me... They know what they are doing.

So long as he is not a flight risk back to WA... I suppose.

Can buss take the first or second fwd or is he more a third intercepting tall?

To me he looks like he plays like a taller version of zuthrie.

Think 7(8) is a reach for a player like that. Think there may be better options with a top 10 pick than this sort of player.

If he’s a genuine no. 1 or 2 key defender then it’s a different story

I’ll back Wells every time in a Mid vs Busslinger call.

Adding a KPD could allow Henry to play forward with his brother.

Imagine the saltiness from the Pies when they kick a dozen between them and we point to the fact that playing opposite ends of the ground wasn’t close enough for them 🤠

Truer words have never been spoken. You can't replace him.
Ditto Hawkins. But we won a flag without Hawkins in 07, and you would have said back in the day "can't replace Stevie J" and yet atm we have someone in Stengle who at 24 in his best season kicked more goals (53) than Johnson did at the same age in 2007 (49).

Not the same players, not the same game, but when Johnson was at his peak I thought we would never have a medium forward anywhere near his level and Stengle this year was something else. Offers goals but is also a very different player.

Joel was Joel. At some point we will have another elite midfielder with leadership qualities. And I can't wait til the end of that players successful career where we say "remember how everyone said he would be the next Selwood when drafted and he was something new entirely."

I remember thinking you couldn't replace Gary Hocking then Joel came along.Would love to see those two scrapping for the same ball at the bottom of a pack.

He’s listed at 196cm but is a late birthday so he’s young and could put on a few cms more- he’s a KPD at that size you’d think.

I used to think we could never replace Ben Grahams massive kick outs until Josh Hunt came along.
Didn't think we would replace Colbert at CHB, since then we have had Harley, Egan, Taylor.

Each of those took something a previous player did, and brought their own talents.

Losing Hawkins will hurt but the way our club is going, we lose Hawkins eventually and probably find a guy who kicks 100 in a season.
