Hope they give Kroeger another year. He seems to have talent. Hope that he can get his body right after a further pre season and play consistently.

If he has talent ..then why not. I doubt we will struggle for spots...especially if they reintroduce a vets list.

Same height as Caleb Daniel and he is more talented ..probably a cross between him and Miers. Stengle is 175cm.. and I think Watson is better. Shifter likes to say if the good enough they are tall enough. Watson is the sort that will create miss match issues for oppositions like Toby Green. If he was 180 instead of 170 ..he is probably pushing Reid for #1. Of course that doesn't mean Im locked into him

On kpd .. I liked Will Dawson in the champs as a late pick ... and apparently WA kid Zane Zakostelsky is moving up . Looks a strong athletic frame. Mentioned in Gettable tonight (around 5 min mark) ..

We need an Ivan Drago on the team. Now that would be bad ass.

Pay the man .

Its almost like Ess will pay him up to the amount that would only secure them a band2 ... so if he left for another club ...they would match a contract on that number...but they would not match a band1 offer.

That other aspect is interesting. The CBA adjustment ... how is that calculated into compensation... but I suspect it it would be a criteria that would have to be matched if they were going to match a contract

If was interesting listening to him on SEN. He is all about the numbers and he was quite compelling in terms of what was down in 23 and how it “could be” different in 24. He noted that the difference between 21 (when the era was certainly over…) and 22 (too old too slow too good) was the impact of 3 young players (Max, SDK, i forgot!) and lack of injuries in the back half of the year.

So he wasn’t saying that the Cats would bounce back but did say it was possible that the era still has some way to go if we get improvement in some youth and a full preseason
Apologise is this has already been posted. But this article is based on what I mentioned in my post. From SEN/Champion data bloke. An interesting take

Last time a club wouldn't budge on the final year for a free agent potentially coming to us it was Dahlhaus and the dogs were absolutely making the right call.

Pay him for him, but I don't know about paying him now for him in 2029
Guy in his mid 20s that has had two years in a row interrupted by soft tissue injuries isnt a guy I'm giving a 6 year deal on big money.

Would be terrible list management IMHO.

If we are one of the teams into Grundy, I wonder what Stanley would do? Stay on being told he’s break glass in case of emergency, look elsewhere? Retire?
Stanley can play other positions though. Was a forward and defender at the Saints.

And last year he was taking the ruck and dropping into defence.

If Grundy comes in he is first ruck and takes most of the hit outs, but with the injuries we got this season and no guarantees on players form and health next season Stanley could still do a job forward or back and pinch hit in the ruck and have Blicavs as a full time midfielder.

Stanley would be a handy second ruck, and is extremely athletic.

GWS have a retention problem, they're in a spiral where they over pay to keep players so they lose a bunch, so they over pay to keep players etc

They do but its not just them. Look at how many average free agents or pre agents are getting 5 year deals. Heck rory atkins got one. Ellis did. Lycett got 5. Theres heaps of examples. Parish getting 6 years isnt the outlier that you think it is. Hes durable enough that i wouldnt be against it.

Dahlhaus was different because his body had a lot of signs of wear and tear-parish is more durable.

Vdubs is a big wrap on him ... think it was his ER connection.... but yeah hope he gets it right, gets a chance next year ti just play some consistent footy.

GO Catters

Its artificially created value is giving plauers leverage to demand these long deals. Six years is too long yet it might be the going rate. Its a choice to pay or walk. If all walk then then player find he does not have the hand he thought he had...its not like he is gong oversea to play with Hotspur or something.

Not sure ... Parish's year on year total games are (from first year to most recent) 20, 20, 15, 21, 17, 23, 16, 17, suggesting there have been soft tissue issues in three of the last four years.

By contrast, Dahlaus's stats are (again first year to most recent) 11, 17, 22, 21, 23, 21, 22, 17, [comes to Cats] 24, 16, 21, 10, which suggests the injuries were an issue two of his last four years [last year at Dogs then second year with us], then the end came quickly in his final season.

In fact his average games per year (allowing for the slower start to his career, reflected in their draft positions) looks very similar or even better: four of eight seasons from Parish seem to have been affected by injury; three of ten from Dalhaus, one of which was his last.

He's no star .
But I'll be happy with Baz Williams.
We need another runner.
HB or wing .
Good age.

This is an earlier post Pure_Ownage . Doesn't read like a ruck to me

Ditto. Kroeger looks like he has it... talent wise. Thighs & butt of an KFC lovers wet dream.
Plenty of spots should be available.
2 years: Menegola
1 year: Simpson
Delist: Kroeger

But I'd say they all get delisted at season end...
But I bloody hope Tuhoy retires

You?
Kroeger gives us more going forward than Menegola.
Sammy struggled at VFL, yeah he got plenty of the ball but did very little with it for me.
