My main issue with Grundy is he will not be a good match to Conway imo. He will be very focused on not having another #1 ruck on the list he goes to.

Age and with two other clubs paying for him.. and at R2 /R3 pick ..it will look good till we want to get game time into Conway.

He doesn't seem a team first kinda guy..

Conway seems to be very mobile so we might be able to go for a 2 ruck set up next year. If Conway can go back or forward too that will be a big win.

I think if the price is right with Grundy you'd take him, absolutely. Our ruck depth this year was poor and may have cost us the game against St kilda. But the price should be purely salary hit, not giving up future picks.

Not any more - it's shithouse. Probably live in Newtown though
He'd adore Newtown, only problem is it's quite literally like walking into a different city up here.

It's like someone picked up a part of Brunswick or Fitzroy and dropped it into 1970s Australia.

It's so abruptly out of place in Sydney, but it's the closest us expat Victorians can get to home, so we it's a real social hub for those of us up here.

One of the only pubs in Sydney with AFL memorabilia resides in Newtown, so that should tell you everything you need to know.

You're right on Kings Cross, absolute hole these days (probably always was to be fair) but at least back in the day it was open all night. Nowadays there's no point even going out, you'll be in bed by 10pm.

The only potential fly in the ointment is that Grundy is 29, not 31. Could have four years of footy left.

My ideal recruit would be someone like Stef Martin at the Dogs last year. Put in enough time to see the young starlet through at minimal cost, then job done.
Isn’t that ideal recruit Rhys Stanley?

For a ruck.

Someone that can help in the ruck and move forward to take Hawkins spot would be fooking great.

Is that Neale..unsure .
He's a lot better than many think he is.

The guy was flying all pre-season and then gets an ankle injury that hinders 75% of his year. He would have lost all the fitness and touch he worked so hard building.

Then we throw him into the fire off of a month of VFL in two most win matches, I'm surprised he showed as much as he did tbh.

Neale will be great for us, but just not yet.

Hope he works out for us..

Restricted free agent Tom Doedee is still mulling his future at the Crows after receiving a relatively modest contract offer after his second knee reconstruction.
This masthead can reveal Doedee had been offered a long-term deal at the Crows as a member of the leadership group and strong intercept marking defender.

Doedee had already torn his left ACL in 2019 but then in June tore his right ACL in a horror development for his contact talks.

Adelaide decided to park those talks to assess the situation, given the risk profile of a player returning from a second ACL tear.

The club’s revised offer was well short of the initial deal, which means Doedee has a decision to make on his future.

Brisbane had initial interest, but it is not known if they have lodged an offer for the 26-year-old.

No other club mentioned in the article

It's interesting this article not mentioning us at all.... matter of fact I haven't see us mentioned to him in any news article...

Makes you wonder what made him go to Melb in the first place
I remember seeing a clip on that show about the trades and they sold it to him like Gawn would spend more time forward out of the two of them. They did try that for a big chunk of the season but it didn't work and thats why they sent Grundy to the VFL to train as a forward.

No smoke, no fire.

And Luke Hodge agrees that it's not end of the era stuff for Geelong

This talk of an “era being over” are media bait clicking garbage… what era?? We had about 20 years of finals finishes, 4 flags, 5-6 or so entire list turnovers… so what exactly is this era defined as???

Was 2006 the end of an era and 2007 the beginning of a new era?? Was 2010 supposedly the end of an era with collingwood fans chanting at the end of the game goodbye to us?? Was 2015 the end of an era also with too old too slow missing the 8??

Who has been defining the beginning middle and ends of this so called era they are now trying to define???

To me it seems like no such thing has ever existed, that for 20 years we have been developing, recruiting, free agent wheeling, going to war at the top with an eye for the future all at the same momen in time… I don’t see some defined period of clarity one way or another in hindsight.

Can we all remember…. As promising as Conway looks… he has hardly played even a handful of VFL games and zero AFL games… yet we keep talking like he is a guaranteed star.

So much water still to go under the bridge

First time in a while I actually sat down & had a look at the list as a whole & I think any thoughts of intentionally dropping back to rebuild are very unrealistic, Cameron & Stewart next 2-3 years look to be the window to me, definitely going to need some of the younger guys to come on very quickly, a lot on Holmes & Bruhn's shoulders to become elite quick.
