Why would GC do that deal? It will only get eaten up by Walter.

The only way I could see us getting close to GC pick is if we use our Fr1 ..and maybe throw in pick for points this year if they want it.

Pick 4 will get eaten up too so you’d assume they will want to trade it to get some other value from it. I’d be tempted to use our FF with maybe a swap of future 2nd round picks? Something like that anyway.

Look just a view on our youth kids...

Look our youth eg Knevitt, Clark, Neale, Holmes, Bruhn, Conway etc does look good and potential..

But I beat you, if you asked all supporters from 17 clubs, I beat you they most likely say the same about there club.. Look im not saying ours won't be, but there is no guarantee this next lot of kids will be the next bunch of kids to take us to our next Premiership..

Please we just have to a little bit of hope that our senior players give these kids some guidance in to make our kids better than the 17 other teams..

We will need a lot more than those named to be competitive moving forward. I don’t share quite the same short term optimism as some do. Think we have a decent base of young talent but will need a couple of good drafts and FA’s to get us back to top 4 discussions.

For mine the era is certainly over. We still might contend next year if like in 22 others walk under a ladder while we have a good run
This years top four is weak as piss and if we didn't have the bad run with injuries, we would easily be top 8, and add two decent mids into this years list and we are comfortable top 4.

Next year I think won't be different. Our defense suffered because our midfield was tragic. Fix the mids, and we stop letting teams pile on the i50s that put massive pressure on the defense.
Our attack was incredible considering how many games we weren't good out of the middle.

2 decent mids in the 24-28 age bracket and we comfortably make top 8. And with an easier fixture top 4.

There is no "outstanding" team this year like us last year, Dees in 21, us in 2019 (til we bottled the finals), Richmond in 2018 (til they bottled the PF).

If we get another sweetheart deal from the Gold Coast the AFL community would explode 😁

True. I was thinking it might be a bit of a quid pro quo by us offering our FF with 7 (with a bit of other pick shuffling) to make up for last years one sided deal. Also means we get to secure one of the best young mids in this years draft.

Pretty sure I could find a post where you said something similar at end 2021.

IMO 2022 was a bit of a freak year. Everything went right, the most talented side in it (Melbourne) couldn't get their shit together, we didn't have a team of stars but they stayed healthy and everything just clicked. We also got an absolute golden run through the finals.

This sounds like most Premiership years.

Luck is the key factor in flags 😇

Not quite IMO - injuries, yes, but having other talented sides shoot their own feet off, not so much.

Sometimes it's a massive part in things, though. 2018 West Coast probably couldn't believe their luck when Richmond choked against Collingwood. The Dogs probably wouldn't have won without the Franklin injury and that armchair ride from the umpires.

We have far better young talent now than we had in 2015 or even 2020.

The issue isnt the young talent its our 24-29 age group. Other than atkins and moc as a role player theres nothing there. We will need some value trade ins to fill that gap.

Anyone who thinks Stanley won’t be playing a major role next year is on the wacky tobacky

Anyone who thinks stanleys body will be abke to play a full year next year is on the wacky tobacky. Hence the need for a ruck.
